A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 1)

I get it, digs. You’re razzing me for seemingly being dismissive, after the fact, of the danger the dolphins were in, seeing as how nothing bad happened.

You’re not wrong. It scared the shit out of us at the time, at first. It was just a telephone wire. We suspected that even if it had been a live high-voltage wire, nothing bad would have happened, probably. This was a tank full of salt water, the the power would probably have gone directly from the wire to ground without bothering the critters. Unless, of course, they happened to be in the direct path. In any case, not much we could have done in the moment.

The scarier thing was the sheet-metal roof of the nearby workshop blew off and went sailing through the air, landing in a nearby parking lot. Had that landed in the water, it could have caused some serious injury.

The good news: I walked out the the beach (what was left of it) the next day. You never saw such a quantity and variety of fresh brightly colored sea shells all over the place. I collected a whole jar full of them.

And now, back to the Schadenfreude, of which I’m sure plenty still remains to be found!

ETA: I forgot to mention what my whole point was: I was just commenting on the observation that reports that got passed around and ended up on the evening news were totally distorted and wrong.

Yep, got your point. It fit right in with the thread, and I think we all would’ve been scared. No razzing, just a titch of teasing about your troop of tursiops truncatus!

No more Shelldenfreude will be tolerated! (Just kidding. That was interesting.)

Meanwhile, in CuckooLand, journalists are being threatened with arrest for asking Marjorie Taylor Greene a question:

What a shame it would be if Greene’s attempts to bring about full-authoritarianism (of the nutso variety) were to be derailed by a GOP nervous about shrinking corporate-donor support!

It’s going to be long and slow, but at least things are proceeding in the right direction.

A New York judge on Friday increased pressure on former President Donald J. Trump’s family business and several associates, ordering them to give state investigators documents in a civil inquiry into whether the company misstated assets to get bank loans and tax benefits.

The ruling was a fresh reminder that Mr. Trump — who left office about a week ago under the cloud of impeachment and is headed for a Senate trial on a charge of “incitement of insurrection” after his supporters stormed the Capitol in a violent rampage — faces significant legal jeopardy as a private citizen.

The most serious threats confronting the former president include a criminal investigation by the Manhattan district attorney [Cyrus Vance] and the civil inquiry by the attorney general [Letitia James] into possible fraud in Mr. Trump’s business dealings before he was elected.

Both of these inquiries involve the Seven Springs family estate in Westchester County, NY.

I sure hope they can pry open this nut to reveal all the rotten stuff inside.

Meh. Whenever Jeff Dunham comes on my radio, I immediately switch to Siriusly Sinatra.

For next level, there’s actually body cam video of the woman getting trampled on the Capitol steps.

Nasty shit, nasty people. Meanwhile, Republicans are like: “Heh-heh. Can’t we just, you know, move past this? Holding people accountable is going to be totally, like, divisive.”

The Republicans have gone almost a month without carrying out a terrorist attack on America, where’s Biden’s UNITY? Why are they being so mean?

“Federal prosecutors investigating the violent riot at the Capitol this month announced their first conspiracy charges against the Proud Boys on Friday night, accusing two members of the far-right nationalist group of working together to obstruct and interfere with law enforcement officers protecting Congress during the final certification of the presidential election.
In an indictment filed in federal court in Washington, prosecutors charged the two Proud Boys, Dominic Pezzola, of Rochester, N.Y., and William Pepe, of Beacon, N.Y., with 11 counts, including conspiracy, assaulting an officer and civil disorder. Both Mr. Pezzola, a former boxer and Marine, and Mr. Pepe, an employee of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, were already facing lesser charges connected to the Capitol attack, which followed a Jan. 6 rally in support of…” so-called president you-know-who.

Wait - his name was actually “Pepe”?

In my mind it’s pronounced like “Mr. Peep”.

I’m probably wrong but I’m going with it.

Maybe, but still - Pepe.

My brain had purged itself of that meme. Thanks for bringing it back. :frowning:

I do now wonder if it’s a pseudonym, it seems too perfect.

You don’t tend to see pseudonyms, without the real name also appearing, in indictments. I suspect it’s his actual name.

Donald Trump’s impeachment defence in disarray as lead lawyers quit – reports

I can’t help but think Trump’s impeachment lawyers jumping ship is all sound and fury, signifying nothing. It all boils down to whether there’s enough votes to get a 2/3 majority in the Senate. There wasn’t enough before, and there’s no incentive for GOP Senators to vote for impeachment this time either. They lost their spines the moment Trump took office, fearing loss of re-election if they go against Trump. The outcome will be the same even if there’s no one left to defend Trump.

Silence! I squeal you!

Ok, but what if we set that video of the Trumpist being trampled to death on the Capitol steps to Yakkety Saks? That’s comedy gold right there.

What Knowed_Out said. Trump could have Pee Wee Herman for his sole lawyer and the republican Senators will vote to acquit. Its just like the last impeachment trial. The jury has rendered its verdict before hearing the evidence, hiding behind “Its unconstitutional”. Its unlikely that the impeachment managers could present enough evidence to shame them into doing the right thing. The only up side is that the public will see the evidence this time around.
