Wild applause!!!
And then there’s this, heheheh:
The Republican candidate for governor in Michigan is so bad even Republicans can’t support her. Well,
not all of them anyway.
This is the second story in as many weeks of Pubs supporting the Dem candidate because they can’t stomach their own. A tiny glimmer of a hope of a turning point??
Probably not? I think what will happen is what we’ve seen elsewhere - those that don’t support the current crop of CS types will be outed as RINOs and either conform while muttering to themselves, become very conservative Democrats or Independents which will either way just reinforce the new orthodoxy.
I think it’s more a sign that what would have once been traditional Republican values are now so long gone that those who adhere to them are so disgusted by what the party has become that they cannot recognize it anymore and disown it. But it’s a meaningless criticism to those who have embraced the new normal - those cast by the wayside aren’t true believers after all. Again, the current crop is either a self-supporting group of conspiracy theorists, or born again cult believers.
The tiny glimmer of hope I have is that in an era with thin margins where the vote isn’t / hasn’t yet been suppressed that those who see what’s going on in their own party vote for Democrats, or at least don’t vote Republican anymore. So in a sense, yeah, tiny glimmer of hope, but not for a return to rationality.
But came to share this instead -
https://www.cnn.com/2022/09/13/politics/house-oversight-committee-trump-national-archives/index.html
Because I feel this may well be a ‘gotcha’. They suspect some things are still missing, and want Trump and Co. on the record as saying ‘No, of course not’ and then proving that yup, still not even making a serious effort to police their own. Which further justifies the DOJ actions.
Yup. The only smart play for Trump is to stay silent. If he says that the US government now has everything then he’ll (probably) be liable for lying to the government. If he says that he still has stuff, then he’s inviting the FBI to come raid his other places.
Sometimes, Trump realizes that he needs to shut up. Not often, but sometimes. We’ll have to see how he does.
No question.
From your link:
The committee’s chairwoman, Rep. Carolyn Maloney, a New York Democrat, also is requesting in the letter that the National Archives and Records Administration, or NARA, seek a “personal certification” from Trump that he has turned over all presidential records he “illegally removed” from the White House.
Maloney to Trump: 'You can either perjure yourself or admit to espionage and obstruction of justice, the choice is yours."
ETA: I guess there is a third possibility, to answer “I don’t know” which may actually be the truth and so may not be perjury obstruction, but makes you look like an idiot and still leaves you on the hook for the woeful mishandling of government documents.
It almost seems as if they don’t trust him.
This line doesn’t read quite the way they might have hoped: "Fortunately, Tudor Dixon does and that’s why we’ll continue to be laser-focused on electing her despite her efforts to distract from her failures.”
Isn’t the third possibility, “it’s all my personal property so none of your bee’s wax.”
It would also be a great chance to shift blame and throw more of Trump’s lawyers under the bus! He can claim that he cooperated fully, but the no good lawyers didn’t do their job right and that it’s their fault. I mean, they signed off that all the stuff was gone, so he didn’t do anything wrong - not that he ever does. And if anything is missing / got copied, well, that’s on them. He hardly knows them after all.
So version 1,276,003 of Trump the victim of employees being slackers, and the evil Democrats for making him out to be responsible.
Which certainly calls into question his claim of hiring the best people.
“I hire the best people, but I fire the worst people “.
Trump, smart, silent. One of these is not like the other two.
Poor Mikey, got his cell phone grabbed by the FBI.
In other news, my brush with history is complete as I have eaten at that Arby’s.
Other articles are saying Hardees though.
So your brush of history may not have happened. And so far, we just have his word for it… which, well, yeah.
From the story, it could be that some street urchins came to him and said “Give us your phone. We’re the FBI.” and his phone has long been hustled to some other shady guy in some backstreet. With all his business. And his secrets.
Dammit, it was a Hardee’s. Don’t remember going there.
I can’t decide whether this actually happened, or if it’s yet another Lindell delusion along the lines of “Hey, I’m important enough to be persecuted by the FBI too! Honest!”
A few months ago, Lindell ran a commercial where he started off chuckling about how banks won’t talk to him, stores stopped carrying his MyPillows, etc. then announced a 60% off sale on moccasins made from genuine Egyptian cotton, and showed a map of Egypt with red arrows pointing towards supposedly fertile fields labeled with little cotton icons. It was like watching a cocaine-snorting corpse flailing to stay alive after a 10-car pileup.
Hy-Brasil isn’t sinking!
Well, yeah! Two of them start with an “s”!
