A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 1)

Politico has an article on it.

Dick Durbin put out a press release.

It just happened so it’s probably taking time.

Not one Republican objected, even though Durbin called out “Trump and his allies” when proposing it.

Thanks for the support. I just found the resolution but was beaten to it. Meidas Touch has been accurate in their reporting so far as I can tell.

Right, but “not objecting” is different from “actively voting for”, or at least they can tell themselves that. And even though Durbin called out Trump & his allies & followers multiple times in his speech, the actual text of the resolution is:

A resolution (S. Res. 775) expressing the sense of the Senate that violence and threats of violence against the employees of the Federal Bureau of Investigation are unacceptable and should be condemned.

Maybe there just weren’t any Trumpers in attendance either. It might not be significant, yeah, and maybe no senator wants to be painted as “supporting violence against the FBI”.

I do think it was a shrewd political maneuver to do it.

If you go to my second link in my previous post - it looks like it’s a lot of business that usually doesn’t engender much debate - like declaring September “National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month”. So yeah, he may have slipped this in to a half-full chamber.

Basically, it’s trolling the Tangerine Toddler with headlines (“Unanimously Passed Resolution”) that give the impression that even his sycophants have turned on him this time.

Countdown to incoherent rant on Truth Social in 3…2…

No, that’s the first paragraph of the preamble, which specifically mentions Trump in the second and fourth paragraphs:

Whereas, pursuant to a judicially issued warrant, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (referred to in this preamble as ‘‘FBI’’) searched the residence of former President Donald Trump (referred to in this preamble as ‘‘the former President’’) on August 8, 2022, for classified and national defense information records owned by the United States (referred to in this preamble as ‘‘the search’’);

Whereas the threats to employees of the FBI and their families have been inflamed by—
(1) calls from members of Congress to ‘‘destroy the FBI’’ or ‘‘defund the FBI’’;
(2) members of Congress comparing the execution of a lawful warrant by the FBI to the actions of the Nazi Gestapo; and
(3) repeated attacks from the former President, who has called FBI officials, among other insults, ‘‘vicious monsters’’;

This is the resolution:

Resolved, That the Senate—
(1) condemns attacks and threats of violence against the employees of the Federal Bureau of Investigation;
(2) condemns calls from members of Congress to ‘‘destroy the FBI’’ and ‘‘defund the FBI’’;
(3) urges public officials at every level of government to reject and condemn political violence and the threat of political violence, regardless of its motivation;
(4) honors the dedicated service of the employees of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, including their work executing lawful warrants; and
(5) affirms that a founding principle of the United States is that individuals settle differences through the political process, not through the use or threat of violence.

Ah thanks, I couldn’t find a link to the entire resolution (as opposed to Durbin’s remarks).

Resolutions like this are pretty worthless, but being personally called out and not defended by any of his minions in the senate no doubt rankles Trump. So all to the good.

sweeping lawsuit against donald trump, his three children, and the trump organization. 200 page lawsuit.

New York attorney general files civil fraud lawsuit against Trump, some of his children and his business | CNN Politics

from the article.

James said she believes state and criminal laws may have been violated and referred the matter to the US attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York and the Internal Revenue Service.

James is seeking $250 million in allegedly ill-gotten funds and to permanently bar Trump and the children named in the lawsuit from serving as the director of a business registered in New York state. She is also seeking to cancel the Trump Organization’s corporate certificate, which, if granted by a judge, could effectively force the company to cease operations in New York state.

So many happy events in Trump’s orbit. He must be thrilled!

I think you can mark September 21, 2022 down as the day that Trump got royally fucked and his world started crashing down. I think this will be the start of the end.

This time it’s really serious for him, because they are going after his pockets.

Given the nature of his on-paper-but-not-liquid wealth, a $250M penalty is going to really hurt.

WTF did James get from Mazars? Because there are a lot of specifics in that article alone that suggest James has a dumptruck-load of hard evidence of fraud in her files already.

I’m also wondering about the Weisselberg inclusion - he may wish he’d spilled the beans earlier. And all three of the odious offspring are in the frame too. I know the football keeps getting pulled away, but…

Aren’t there a lot of loans out there that are coming due very soon as well?

oh, yeah, very soon. and with this filing and the 5 year freeze ag james is requesting, those loans are going to be called very, very, soon.

on going investigation on cushman and wakefield; mazars and deutsche bank are co operating.

Trump will be sputtering with rage…

Actually, if Trump et alia believe that James has the goods on them, apart from the usual whining they’ll also be arguing over who’s going under the bus - after all, even if fraud was committed, James has to prove who was responsible for it.

Weisselberg is really going to wish he’d talked. Or he’s about to start.
