A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 1)

Beclowning oneself is typically a solo activity and if you do it in private, you are typically OK. It’s when you beclown yourself in a public setting that there can be repercussions. Oz was a perpetual public beclowner.

Hell, I hear that he did in once in a grocery store, on camera, and he shared the video publicly himself.

Is anyone down to ?

Well, at least he didn’t run against him in '36…

It’s a small country.

I have my doubts about that. After all, how could they be given to the Committee when they’re under audit!

Schadenfreude mit Schlage.

That would be illegal, according to the orange dumpster fire. Who would never do anything illegal.

Even smaller, if one is trying to cite, as interesting information about some historical figure, a locale in which no mass-shootings have taken place.

Recent past, at least. Romney was the first candidate to release his taxes, Nixon the first President. Since then all have voluntarily disclosed their taxes except Ford and Trump.

I have genuinely forgotten why they wanted them in the first place.

But how much can they do with the taxes before the Republicans come in to make them disappear? Better get cracking!

Someone could leak them. I certainly hope that happens.

Everyone in Washington assumes that’s going to happen.

Why do they have to leak them? Can’t the committee just release them?

I would have guessed that if they discovered something illegal they have to report it to the competent prosecutor. Would that not be their duty? And the prosecutor would have to explain why he is formally accusing Trump of whatever (or, heaven forbid, why not), so at least the illegal part* would have to be made public. Otherwise there would be a secret trial and that is very unamerican, probably even unconstitutional, is it not?

*And if the illegal part is released, knowing TFG as I think I do, everything will have to be released. Because the total illegality is bigger than the sum of the individual felonies, high crimes and misdemeanors.

Pretty sure no - tax returns are private information. My understanding is the committee has access to them for whatever reasons they gave to the courts. Any additional use of them would probably need to be vetted also.

And as far as I know, that damn audit is still going on.

My private hope is that the W & M Committee will discover some shenanigans have been going on with the audits that didn’t completely follow the IRS code. Perhaps shenanigans over which the Secretary of the Treasury would have had oversight.

what the committee can do is pass them on to the senate committee. that way work can continue after the new congress takes control.
