The lawsuit, filed by Mississippi Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson in his personal capacity, is the first civil action filed against the former President related to the attack at the US Capitol and comes days after the Senate acquitted Trump in his impeachment trial.
If it proceeds, it would mean the former President and others would be subject to discovery and depositions, potentially exposing details and evidence that weren’t released during the Senate impeachment trial.
I hope there are so many lawsuits and criminal charges filed against the orange fuck that he’ll have to learn to use a spreadsheet to keep track of them all. And that he’ll eventually end up in jail, along with some of his lawyers …
I just caught the last few minutes of Hannity. He was complaining about how the media is celebrating that PDAs (Public Displays of Affection) are back in the White House. They show pictures of Biden interacting with his wife, his family and his dogs (you know, normal human behavior). This is so unfair to Trump! The media never covered him this way.
Guess what, Sean? The media probably would have been all over it if Trump had ever released photos of him, say, hugging Barron when he visited the Oval Office. Or of him celebrating Christmas with his grandkids. We didn’t see it because he never evinced anything like affection for anyone. (Ok, well, maybe Ivanka.) Yeah, so unfair.
Perhaps because Trump just never acted like a regular human being, so the media couldn’t cover him in that way. He demonstrated no empathy for others, no love of animals or pets, no interest in Barron (none that was publicized anyway, unlike Presidents Clinton, Bush, and Obama with their kids). Melania declined to take his hand at one point. The man was just plain cold and unfeeling, unlike regular human beings, and so the media couldn’t put a “regular family man and ordinary guy” spin on him.
I watched Mr. Biden’s Town Hall on CNN tonight. What struck me was that Mr. Biden would always have a few comments after Anderson Cooper introduced the next questioner. “You’re a nurse? You must be swamped, but believe me, we all appreciate what you’re doing,” or “A teacher? I bet I know what your question is going to be,” and similar. In doing so, he elicited applause, and some laughter. In other words, he was a totally human president with totally human reactions to real people and their situations. And his answers, where they could, demonstrated empathy.
The most touching, I thought, was the mother whose 8-year-old daughter was with her. The mother’s question revealed that the young girl was very worried about Covid, to the point that she was worried that she and her friends would die from it, and soon. Mr. Biden asked for her name (“Layla,” if I recall correctly), and then answered, addressing his remarks to Layla, not her mother. His remarks were reassuring and comforting, not just to an 8-year-old, but to everybody, I’d imagine.
I shudder to think how Trump would have answered such a question.
The question would never have come up, let alone been answered. For one thing, Chester Cheat-o was (and is) only interested in rallies that boost his ego, not town halls that might require him to answer questions; and on top of that, at least in the clip I saw Layla’s mother didn’t look “white” enough for him to deign to notice.
A perfectly apt metaphor for the end of trump’s presidency, and hopefully his incompetent corrupt business dealings as well: trump Casino Plaza scheduled for implosion at 9:00 this morning. Sorry I apparently missed the deadline by mere minutes (unless there’s a delay or something); watching live online is / was an option:
I’m wondering how many other real estate properties are seeing what they can do to remove the Trump brand from their names. I suppose all they have to do is stop paying for the use.
This is pinging some vague memory. Was there some event where Trump made some typically Trumpish harsh remark, addressed to some child? Or was it just a bad dream I had one night? Anybody remember something like that?
