Remember when Mr. Empathy met with Nobel Peace Prize winner Nadia Murad? You could tell he was bored to tears listening to her blather on about how ISIS killed her family. All he wanted to talk about was how she got the Nobel Prize.
One thing I noticed about how Biden spoke to that little girl: he used age-appropriate language but addressed her as one respectful person to another, not with the sing-songy condescension some adults think is the way to talk to children.
When I visited the Trump Plaza about 20 years ago their deli had awesome whitefish salad.
That’s as close as I’m going to come to saying anything good about the orange scum.
I always liked the bar at the Trump building in Chicago; it had a fantastic view up the river to the lake. Overpriced, but every upscale hotel bar is. I keep hoping someone will buy that building (hopefully under foreclosure) and redeem it in some way.
Ha! In all seriousness though, this is a very interesting confrontation. McConnell is arguably the most powerful and influential political figure in the Repub party, at least after trump, who inexplicably remains influential so far. McConnell is a terrible person, but in a very different way from trump. McConnell is much smarter and more calculating about his agenda.
However, McConnell, in trying to play both sides of the coin by acquitting trump, yet condemning his actions, seems to have miscalculated. If McConnell wanted to reduce trump’s influence over the party and stop any hope for trump to run again in 2024, he should have gone all-out and led a Senate conviction. Now he’s facing the wrath of trump and trumpublicans anyway, while leaving trump with a shred of a viable future in politics.
trump may have finally met his match in turning on McConnell, because McConnell is miles more shrewd and calculating. And trump is hardly in a strong position to attack, being an exiled ex-president facing a host of legal issues. But McConnell is going to be seriously damaged by losing the trumpublicans. I’m hoping this leads to mutual assured destruction for both their political futures.

This is the Schadenfreude America needs right now.
This is the Schadenfreude America has been waiting for.
And may 45’s diminution in the public eye continue apace, unless and until it is due to his successful prosecution and incarceration for some too-long-unpunished crime(s).
