A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 1)

Yeah, I suppose threatening to murder witnesses would tend to get your bail denied.

Threatening to murder his own kids. If this is that same guy.

Indeed. For some reason his lawyer’s brief didn’t address that fact.

It’s not the same guy.

Also from the article,…

But, if he deleted his Facebook account on January 7, then he knew damned well that what he did on the 6th was illegal, and that he did attack, destroy, and injure.

This struck me as a ridiculously prolix way to describe somebody as a ‘fucking snowflake.’

Journalists paid by the word/attorneys paid by the hour

[you’d think somebody for whom the strain of jail would be so intense would have been more circumspect about trying to overthrow a government, though, huh ?]

And terrify. The PTSD among the capitol police, staff and Congresspersons may haunt them for the rest of their lives. Then let’s throw in that they were trying to disenfranchise every American who voted for Biden.

One would hope so. But one might be disappointed.

Of all the Trump attorneys in the clown car—Powell, Rudy Giuliani, Jenna Ellis, Lin Wood, et al—have ANY faced any consequences at all for their conduct? Has even one state bar association raised a hand to say ‘er, maybe you shouldn’t be doing what you’re doing’…??

Even Jay Sekulow, who stayed clear of the Overturn-the-Election shenanigans, was credibly charged with bad conduct over a year ago—but apparently is still in great with his bar association:

I begin to suspect that there’s nothing that could result in even sanctions for these malefactors—much less disbarment.

(And I’d love to be wrong about this.)

More fun and 'freude for Trump, courtesy of WaPo:

Major global network of high-end luxury travel agencies (that I’ve never heard of before, but maybe I’m not in their market demographic) de-lists Trump hotels.

Years ago my lawyer brother told me that about the only thing that will get you automatically disbarred is stealing client funds from things like earnest money accounts.

I used to work in the luxury travel industry. Virtuoso is a consortium of travel agents and travel suppliers, and it’s got a fair amount of stroke in the industry. Suppliers like hotel properties pay an annual fee to be part of the consortium, but are expected to adhere to certain standards of quality of service. It is entirely possible that the hotels stiffed Virtuoso for the annual fee, and so they were dropped.

It could also be that Virtuoso dropped them over quality issues. I stayed at Doral once, and couldn’t understand why it was considered a “luxury” product; it was a mid-market airport Marriott with gold-colored appurtenances.

In keeping with the brand, I met the Sales Director for the Trump DC hotel at a conference once and she was nuts . And not the fun kind. Like very, very unpleasant.

You can’t drop a nugget like that without sharing the details, man!

Gosh darn it, I just saw this in my news feed and was rushing to this thread to hopefully be the first to gleefully post it. Until (if /when) the investigations into his finances bear fruit, seeing what’s left of his real estate empire crash and burn is my major source of trump Shadenfreude.

Not too much more to tell. It was an industry annual conference, and part of the day is a “speed dating” round where we advisors would sit at little tables and every 3 minutes a different supplier would come around to tell you what’s new with them, current promotions, etc. Pretty sure this was 2017.

There were three of us at our table, and we saw that Trump DC was coming up. We all agreed that we would be professional, civil, and courteous. The sales director began by asking us if we had ever booked their property. I stated, truthfully, that I just didn’t get business in DC, and so it was a non-issue for me. I thought that was a nice way to sort of not engage without being rude. She then asked if we would consider booking their hotel should the opportunity arise, and I couldn’t lie; I said probably not, as it just didn’t seem like a property my typical client would be interested in (again, true, I think). She then point-blank asked if that was because we didn’t like Trump. I said that, in all honesty, I was uncomfortable with the President of the United States having going business interests like this. Again, true, and about as polite a way as I could think to dodge the question.

She went off. She was clearly tired of hearing anti-Trump sentiments (which was why I tried to leave some graceful exit points), but it was also clear that she was of a Trump type; no efforts to be persuasive or conciliatory - just on and on about what a great property it is, and how it wasn’t fair that we should penalize all the hard working men and women at the hotel just because we were against the President, all in a really aggressive manner; she was actively berating us for our reluctance. At some point she asked (and this is almost verbatim), “one of our doormen is a young man from Guatemala. Should he lose his job and have to go back there just because you won’t book guests at our hotel?” I lost it. I informed her that if her only strategy to win us over was guilt, then they had a lousy business plan and I had no interest in them whatsoever.

I found the head of our agency and filled him in, and he assured me he’d speak to some people at Virtuoso. I never did see her again at any industry events.

Funny thing is that about an hour later we met with the rep from what was then the Trump Hotel in Toronto. Lovely young lady, pleasant as can be, and we had a very nice chat. One of my colleagues did casually mention the DC rep, and this young woman just lowered her gaze, shook her head sadly and said, “yeah…”

Don’t sell yourself short, that was a great story.

Wasn’t Misty Belles a 1970’s porn star?

Google search says no.

As does IAFD.

Heh, three cars ago my car’s color was describe by Honda as “misty beige.” One of my co-workers said it sounded like a Playboy centerfold (back when this was still a thing).

A Trump property stiffing a business partner? Say it ain’t so!
