A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 1)

A classic example of why somebody who takes on the job of being the freaking POTUS is supposed to cut ties with their private business interests. Trump’s allowed to use his POTUS power and prestige to shill and grift for his own hotels to put money in his pocket, but nobody else may allow their opinion of his POTUS activities to influence their patronage of his hotels? Fuck that hypocritical bullshit.

No reflection on you carlb, a very trenchant story and well told!

Did anyone else do a double take at the picture in that article and think it was Derek Chauvin, the cop that killed George Floyd? Just me?

I love that you knew this site existed, thought it was well enough known that you didn’t have to spell it out, and that no Dopers have asked what it stood for. Thumbs up for this post.

I may be wrong but I assumed Ike_Witt was joking because the name sounds like a porn name.

Just like her boss!

I suspect the difference there is that the Trump Hotel & Tower in Toronto was one of those deals where they licensed the name but Trump himself had little to do with it. The Trump Organization did have a management contract for a time and owned a minority interest, all of that long gone.

Like everything Trump touches, even remotely, the place went to shit, the owners were sued by investors, and the place was so poorly maintained that, rather symbolically, the “P” fell off one of the giant Trump signs and was just left that way, while in the meantime a city councilor moved to have the “Trump” name changed because it was an embarrassment to the city. Today the place has been rehabilitated and operates under the St. Regis brand, owned by Marriott. Somewhere in a dumpster or a landfill are two sets of gigantic letters spelling T-R-U-M-P, with one of the Ps a bit dented from having fallen off the building.

Yeah, just about any last name coupled with Misty gets that thought.

I suppose it is better than being a Karen… the thoughts that name generates aren’t as pleasant.

Present company excluded, of course. :slightly_smiling_face:

 maybe in my youth. But, I suppose Rule 34

Perhaps you’re thinking of Cheri Swellz? (ETA: SFW link, more-or-less.)

Misty Karen… “Do you want to speak to… the ‘Manager’?”

That is correct.

Now I actually feel bad about it. You have my sincere apology.

That would be an instant Classic.

I could have sworn Misty Peaks was a porn star but I guess it’s just a range of mountains in the Monster Hunter video games.

(I am well aware of the Misty Mountains in Middle Earth, but that’s a little less porn-sounding to me.)

I don’t know. To me, “Misty Mage” sounds like what a publisher tells the illustrator to put on the cover of the next Marion Zimmer Bradley novel.

“Can you make her more, y’know, ethereal?”

This has gone about as far from Trump and his enablers as it can. I’m not sure whether that’s good or bad.

Also: some of you are probably thinking of Misty Beethoven. No, I’m not putting a link in.

Schadenfreude-wise, one would have preferred that it had been the “T,” instead.

I thought Misty Belles sounded like the perfect name for a luxury travel agent. The second ‘e’ really makes the difference.

So, he’s an “Oath Keeper”, which means he has prior experience as a police officer or military, correct?

And yet his filing says:

Theres a “hmmmm” there.

Not at all, we’re discussing potential porn star names. That’s extremely close to talking about Trump.

:stuck_out_tongue:

I think all the Prenda Law guys got disbarred.
