Seconded. Thanks, Ann_Hedonia, for that very convincing description.
It’s amazing that the investigators working for Vance and for the other inquiries aren’t ALL ‘organized crime’ experts.

Off-topic, but I’m going to stick up for the “FTE” verbiage - it’s been quite standard here (Australia) to see this in job advertisements for … decades, I’d guess. I’m pretty sure I remember it from the 90’s. And the reason is, that part-time work in all sorts of occupations is completely normalised and common, and FTE is a great handy way to categorise how much of a part your part-time is.
And having part-time work be normalised is excellent if you’re:
*having kids
*studying
*disabled
*got carer responsibilities
and so on and so forth. We raised 3 kids most of the way to primary school on 2 x 0.4FTE jobs and I never thought of it as remotely depersonalising … it refers to the work not the worker
During my work career I referred to human components more than once.
FTE is what we use in education where we do have a lot of 0.2 and other odd positions. We even have a version for students: AAFTE. That is Annual Average FTE.
Gives a whole new meaning to the term “I need a hand”
And +1 here. Late last night, when I was dog tired, I saw this long post from @Ann_Hedonia and I turned the PC off. For a treat like that I want to be wide awake to enjoy it. I wasn’t disappointed.

Yeah, I was going to make this point, as well. When you’re doing employee statistics and running reports on them, it’s very helpful. As said, it’s not the people, it’s the amount of work (represented by time) that they do.
“FTE” has been a phrase in use for a long time. I remember it from when I first entered the working world in the early 1970s (in a University environment).
It’s also important as a budget and payroll statistic. Budget appropriations for labor are often put in terms of the number of FTEs.
Not sure what existing thread is the bestest place for this. This seems as good a place as any.
Just noticed this tweet from yesterday (May 29) evening:
As of yesterday, all of President Joe Biden’s nominees to the Board of Governors of the U.S. Postal Service have been approved by the Senate. 5 of 9 board members are now Dems. Let’s not dawdle over this, it’s easy and obvious. DeJoy must go. What’s more, DeJoy deserves DeJail.
Has this been reported elsewhere in the news? I haven’t spotted it yet. Oh wait, here’s a report I just found:
A Senate committee on Wednesday approved President Joe Biden’s three nominees to the governing board of the U.S. Postal Service. The nominees — Ron Stroman, a former deputy postmaster general; Amber McReynolds, who leads the nonprofit National Vote...
Based on conflicting headlines I’m seeing, it’s unclear if these nominees have just been confirmed by the committee and remain to be confirmed by the entire Senate, or if they have been confirmed by the entire Senate, or if they have already been sworn in. In any case, things are progressing.
ETA: I just decided the above post probably fits better in the Biden First 1500 days thread, so I’m going to re-post it there.

Quite reasonable; in any case, I expect we’ll all feel very, very sad for DeJoy when he’s ousted (and, one hopes, held accountable in a court of law for his obviously self-serving attempts to sabotage the service with which he was entrusted).
100 Quatloos on DeJoy being in the same position a year from today.
It’s true that there are a lot of things the Biden Administration is being asked to fix. Some of them will inevitably end up on the back-burner.
But DeJoy and what he’s up to is still in the news fairly often. People notice that their post office branch is closed. Or has shorter hours. Or has longer lines because so many workers have been fired.
So I would bet against you on this one. (Had I a Quatloo to bet.)
I wish some online financial genius Trekker would make Quatloos the next Bitcoin.
You’d like to actually play Fizzbin, wouldn’t you?

Not on Tuesdays.
Did this get mentioned yet?
That hat shop in Nashville that is (was?) selling the yellow Star of David patch with the words “Not Vaccinated” –
Stetson (the cowboy hat company) pulled their products from that store. Goorin Bros (another hat company I never heard of) did likewise.
The Nashville store HatWRKS found itself in a sea of controversy for selling "not vaccinated" badges shaped in the Star of David. Two major hat brands have ceased distribution with the shop.
A Nashville hat store is facing backlash after announcing on social media that it was selling yellow patches similar to the Star of David with the words “NOT VACCINATED,” sparking widespread condemnation, a protest and severed business ties.
Iconic hat company Stetson announced Saturday that it will stop selling its merchandise at HatWRKS, the company at the center of the controversy. Goorin Bros., another prominent hat company, also announced its distribution with HatWRKS would end immediately.
There’s still hat stores?
Nashville is the epicenter of fake cowboy culture. Also numero uno in rhinestones per capita.
There’s still hat stores?
Sure. You may have seen a Lids Hat & Apparel store at your local mall back when people still went to the mall. And then there are places that still sell cowboy hats.

Yeah you beat me to it. I like to peruse them on the rare occasion I step foot in a mall, sometimes you find some really interesting hats.
