A new article in Newsweek: Trump Wanted Cows to Climb Ladders Over Border Wall, Ex-Staffer Says (newsweek.com) talks about how Trump was furious when he learned that his border wall had doors that ranchers would use to allow their cattle access to the Rio Grande for grazing. If his wall had doors then it would allow Mexicans to storm into the country by the thousands! Trump had a much better idea - allow ranchers to use ladders, or even local fire company trucks, to allow the cattle to climb over the wall instead.
As my wife frequently says (quoting Hill Street Blues ) “Cows have no down genes” . We discussed tthis on this Board before. It might be stupid to expect a cow to climb up a ladder, but it’s even stupider to expect themn to climb down.
Yes, it’s true. It has to do with they way their legs work. Here is one explanation…
“This is actually correct stating that a cow can be led upstairs but not down. The ankle and knee joints are mis-aligned for supporting the cows weight when traveling down stairs. Its not that they physically can’t, its just that it is a lot of trouble for them. Imagine walking upstairs normally, but then when you come back down the stairs you have to wear a pair of ballet shoes and walk down on your tiptoes…
