A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 2)

Rudy loses another lawyer.

“Giuliani has also taken to representing himself in a lawsuit brought by a Staten Island grocery store worker”

I thought he lost his license?

Disbarred or not, he can still go pro se.

Kinda like the old saying almost says:

A disbarred attorney who is his own lawyer has a fool for a client and demonstrably incompetent representation to boot.

This will end well. Picture me as Mr. Burns rubbing his hands together while slithering out his best “Excellent! Excellent!”.

I tend to use the analogy that Taylor Swift should write a song called “Maybe It’s Me.”

Ok, I guess this isn’t strictly schadenfreude, but it is delicious. Apparently, Trump used to regularly (and probably still does) throw food against the wall when he’s angry, according to Cassidy Hutchinson (who’s still gonna vote for him, but oh well). Poison ketchup is a top fear of the ex-Pres as well. I love the idea of him being so upset.

WTF? Really? I don’t understand people. I really don’t.

If I’m being honest, I kind of understand. There is nothing Biden could do to make me vote Trump over Biden.

She has seen Trump operate from inside the White House. She has seen the kind of people he lets close to him. She has seen him try to get her to lie under oath. She has seen him throw food at the wall, and watch TV while the democracy (and VP Pence) was in danger. I get “never voting for Trump over Biden,” but that doesn’t come close to equating to “never voting for Biden over Trump.” What the hell has Biden ever done to her or the country?

You say that, but I suspect you can only say that because it’s entirely hypothetical. You know you’ll never have to deal with this issue, because Biden isn’t as bad as Trump.

But imagine this: What if the news broke tomorrow that Biden and the Democrats are just as bad as the Republicans and QAnon types say they are? Pedophile Pizza Parties, Satanism, the works.

I’m pretty sure you’d change your vote then.

But this highlights the problem: Cassidy and the other Republicans are already in that boat. She knows, from personal experience, that Trump really is just as bad as we’ve been saying he is. All the crap about him is true. They know the truth of Trump vs. Biden, and yet they vote Trump anyways.

I would not vote at all. Nothing could make me vote for Trump.

There’d be a mass exodus of Dems to the Greens. Or some other leftish party. Sure as hell won’t go to the Rs.

So the question is why doesn’t Hutchinson (and the never-Trumpers) switch to some right-leaning third party? Libertarians or whatever.

Well, in this hypothetical, the Rs would have been proven right about everything. You can’t imagine that the psychic shock of that might make a lot of people into Trumpers?

The Dems are right about how bad Trump is. There’s all kinds of evidence to show this. How many Trumpers have gone to the Ds because of that?

I know I’m not the first to suggest it, but a psychological sunk cost fallacy is a b*tch to overcome.

Personally, I’d guess that she’s saying it for credibility on the right. In actual practice, I’d venture to guess that she would abstain if she’s truly opposed to Biden.

Abstaining is just as important a vote as an actual vote and the lack of it is the cause of many of our modern ills.

I am not sure where Cassidy Hutchinson says she’s still going to vote for Trump, but I’ll assume it was reported in the news outlets. I wonder, though, if she was asked if she would vote for Trump for President, if he is the nominee, or if she planned to vote for him in the primary. I suspect the former and either wouldn’t answer the latter or it was never asked.

All this means is that she still considers herself a Republican. One of the rules of being a Republican is that you vote for the party. If she is still a Republican, then she is getting something from it. She is selling a book, so perhaps she is maintaining party affiliation to sell more copies.

Er, cite?

For many, even if they conceptually understand their choice is objectively awful, they also know they stand to personally gain or do well in that scenario even if potentially the rest of the world will not. They may not support Trump personally, but they’ll “hold their nose” or whatever and still support the rest of the party, who they know will still back Trump.

As Sinclair Lewis once noted, it’s difficult to get a man to understand something when his paycheck depends on his not understanding it.

Mea culpa mea culpa-I genuinely thought I’d read elsewhere that she was going to vote for him again, but it seems not. I’m sorry, I should have checked before I made that statement.

She says in this story that she would not vote for him.
