@Johnny_L.A: Yeah. An apt description for sure.
@Horatius: It seems like what they’re mostly doing is flinging flaming chainsaws at one another. Or maybe it’s flaming bags of poo. In any case it’s quite the clownshow.

And then there’s this. Note that this won’t just impact Mr Robertson - it could catch Trump as well.
That is a truly yuge finding. And greatly reduces the barrier to trying & convicting a lot of very deserving people.
Yes, why not, indeed? Forget the fines though-- those mean nothing to him. Please, please put him in jail for it, if only for a couple days.
True, but as pointed upthread, it does serve a purpose of documenting escalation as appropriate steps.
I’d fine the fucker, to the tune of, say $100 for EACH unique hit on the missed link (reportedly a bit over 3k), so $300,000 or so (so not small, but not excessive in the scope of things) with some/all of the funds earmarked to provide additional security for the affected staff.
Make the punishment fit the crime, and take a nice high road, while pointing out just how much worse the next offense will be.
Oh, and cross-posting this, because it hasn’t come up here, but bro took the plea deal:

Being discussed extensively in the Georgia thread. AAAAAND…
Gym Jordan just hit strike # 3 in his speaker efforts.
Triple play of Schadenfreude. There may well be bonus booze today!
Quadruple play. See the post about the Robertson ruling above.
So much winning
The judge is letting Trump sweat a while too. Hee hee!
From that article:
Trump’s attorney Christopher Kise described the development as an “inadvertent” result of the crossposting of his social media messages on his website.
How does this make it any better? If he’s not supposed to publicly threaten the judges clerk he’s not supposed to threaten him either on his campaign site or in a social media post.
And asks him if he understands the Gag Order. Talks to Trump in small, clear words as one would do to a toddler. Keeps him on the stand talking for an hour or so.
ETA: Euphonious_polment quoted me before I reworded my final sentence.
Perfect! It has the bonus of the chance of Trump saying outrageous shit, to the point where he talks himself right into a jail cell that very day.
And he’ll already be conveniently located so he can’t make media circus out of showing up tomorrow in a limo with a 40- cop car escort like he did last time.
Bailiff, take the defendant away to custody. Bang Done.

“Defendant, remove your tie, your belt and your shoelaces.”
Do it in court before they haul his sorry ass away.
This just in: Gym Jordon lost the third vote.
Smells like Neosporin, huh Gym?
( Hey Gym! Are you regretting having your staff threaten other Congressmen’s wives with harassing phone calls to get them to change their votes yet…? )
“Defendant, remove your tie, your belt and your shoelaces.”
bolding mine
I believe he couldn’t do that alone. As I am sure he can’t tie his shoes without a butler. First of all, he could not bend that far down. Second, he lacks the manual dexterity.
Thirdly: I really hope he has holes in his socks.
Thirdly: I really hope he has holes in his socks.
I don’t think so, I bet he never wore the same pair of socks twice and throws every pair in the trash each night. He’s that kind of person.
Yes, that is possible too.
BTW: Looking on-line for the right translation of Häme (yeah, I am that lazy) Google suggests Schadenfreude.
ETA: DeepL suggests gloating. Much better!

Hopefully, he will get some nice orange slippers soon. So he won’t have to worry about it.
“Häme” is even meaner than “Schadenfreude”, but I can’t come up with a fitting English translation either. One of those German words that you can’t translate? (or even worse, one of those German emotions you can’t feel as someone else?) I was thinking of “glee”, but I don’t know if that word covers it.
Sadistic happiness?
From Merriam-Webster’s, gloating:
to observe or think of something with triumphant and often malicious satisfaction, gratification, or delight.
glee:
exultant, high spirited joy.: MERRIMENT.
// dancing with glee.
I think gloating nails it.
Now you got me thinking, but isn’t glee also associated with malicious joy? I think of the lines
I watched with glee
While your kings and queens
Fought for ten decades
For the gods they made
from “Sympathy For The Devil” of course.
Well, I refer to a standard dictionary and it defines glee as a benevolent feeling. Your quote hints at something lacking in that definition. A very pertinent quote, I must add. Very apt for the subject of this thread.
The only trouble I have with the definition of gloating is the word “often”: Häme is always malicious, vicious even. And I like it! (to quote another Stones song)
