A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 2)

It was debunked long ago.

All it takes guys is a quick Google search.

Eh, trump has done enough stupid things that I can easily let that one go, but it was fun thinking he did. It’s one of those things I never looked up because it seemed so typical of him.

It’s like, name the one time Trump was accused of doing something really stupid that he actually didn’t. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

My favorite part of that Snopes picture is the signboard at Saint John’s Episcopal Church.

ALL ARE WELCOME

Dang, and here I thought it was a cyclops all this time.

I nearly pissed myself.

Honestly, the whole thing was just stupid. “Oh, there’s riots out there, I know, I’ll go down to the church and take a meaningless photo using a bible as a prop…” There’s literally no substance to the act, but he thinks there is.

I mean, watch the video of the event, and it just emphasizes how empty it was. Trump spends a few minutes striking poses, obviously thinking to himself, “How should I hold this? What do people do with this thing?” He says absolutely nothing related to the Bible or religion, just trots out a few of his usual MAGA blatherings, and then tops it off with one of the most awkward group photos I’ve ever seen.

And the real kicker is that although that church is nicknamed Church of the Presidents , it actually is not government property. It’s owned by the Episcopal Church. It’s also the very same church I attended with my family while I was in 9th through 12th grades. I was even an acolyte there.

Same with the ‘triumphant’ return to the White House after being hospitalized with Covid. As if the entire nation was holding its breath until our incompetent dickhead savior was restored to the throne. Everything MAGA is a stain the fabric of America.

Sheeesss… what BS. And did he notice that he is standing in front of a church that has it’s doors and windows boarded up?

I agree, whether or not he held the bible upside down is really insignificant and immaterial in relation to the stupidity and ridiculousness of the entire stunt.

And let’s not forget, peaceful protesters in Lafayette Square were tear-gassed in order to clear the way for the Great Bible Walk. Democracy in action!

Well, I learned something! You can see at :34 seconds it is upright. Still - what a dick maneuver.

IIRC, one of those peaceful protesters happened to be either the rector or assistant rector of Saint John’s.

IIRC his feefees were bruised over being taken to a safe location and he was intent on doing literally anything. I’m sure the church idea was just a desperate scramble by his babysitters to find something for him to do.

Or, and I’m leaning towards this, his security detail thought that maybe, just maybe, if they were in or at a church, the lightning wouldn’t strike them.

Heh, this gave me a funny mental picture–

Now, I don’t wish a lightning strike upon anybody, not even trump. But, just say he had been struck by lightning as he held up that bible; let’s say he wasn’t really hurt, just got a mild jolt and his comb-over singed off. Perhaps the lifts in his shoes provided an insulating effect so he wasn’t fully grounded.

Would that not be the most absurdly ironic thing ever? Would it have given his followers pause, who must engage in magical thinking in order to be a trumper? Would they maybe have thought "hmmm…is God himself trying to tell us something?!?..

“…Nah.”

So you’re saying he was struck by lightning and came out unscathed? And you need more proof of his divine status? Typical librul unbeliever.

And all the liberals yell “You can see the god damn horns on his head now, what fucking more do you need?”

Although he does occasionally use lightning to scatter enemy troops, God using lightning to punish individuals isn’t all that biblical. Instead when the people of a country are following a leader who angered god he usually sends down a plague to punish them.
