A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 2)

Yes. I’m wondering about his pay, also.

Given that he works for Trump, so am I. :grinning:

I’m guessing that until last week his “pay” was room and board, consisting of a cot in a storage room and all the day old chicken tenders he could eat.

Once the indictment came out, he was upgraded to a suite in the hotel and steak and lobster three times a day.

Keeping this guy happy is probably the most important thing in Trumps life right now, and I bet having Trump suck up to you because he wants you to sacrifice yourself for him is creepy in the extreme.

Given that he is not officially retired, Nauta could theoretically be court-martialed regardless of the outcome of proceedings in civilian court. As I understand it, double jeopardy protections are not currently considered to shield a defendant who has been tried in civilian courts from a court martial for the same act. It’s obviously been argued against, but for now, it’s possible. (Not likely, I suppose, but possible.)

The weirdest schadenfreude I had today was out there…

I have this frisson, thinking of all the various Legislative Republicans, who, for a brief moment, could have just impeached Trump’s orange ass after 1/6 if they’d just kept to the enlightened self interest of getting rid of a goon who actively threatened them.

Then, they wouldn’t have Trump dragging down other possible candidates with substantially less baggage, whether presidential or down ballot. But nope, and now they have pretty much guaranteed that this next election cycle will be all about Trump again, with horrible infighting likely to ensue in between the Pro-Trump / Anti-Trump factions about 2020 and 1/6 all over again. Not to mention all the down-ballot Trump suckups who have no other qualifications other than brown-nosing.

It’s terrifying that despite all that he could be elected again, but otherwise I’d be expecting a probable DeSantis win in 2024.

It’s interesting that our two most likely options are so polar opposites. 1)Trump is so fucked up it will be great for the Democrats and therefore the country, or 2) Trump is so fucked up, but he’ll win again and the country will suffer immensely.

As we now know, only a couple of thousand Trump supporters showed up.

And thank all that’s holy: the left continued to stay away, as they did on 1/6/21–denying the lying right their chance to ‘both sides.’ Staying away also denied Fox et al footage of conflict that they could have used to court any remaining actual Law and Order voters, if there are any such left among registered Republicans.

Trump gave an explicit direction to his followers to Be There. And just as at his New York arraignment, they failed to comply.

I hope he takes that in fully. He truly is a loser–and the whole world saw that today.

I was referring to his retired pay, but you do raise a good point!

I’ve seen “a couple of hundred.” Anyone have a reference on the gaggle size?

Trump is always spewing on Truth Social about how Americans aren’t going to take this, the people will rise up to defend him. I believe he once stated that people should protest in every city. That’s what he wanted to happen, more than anything else. You would hope that seeing that not manifest would give him pause. But I don’t think he is capable of any self-reflection so he’ll just keep on believing that soon it will happen. And that he just needs to YELL LOUDER.

The Ugly American stereotype.

The Hoveround revolution.

The Flaccid Jihad.

Someone with more creative energy than I have at the moment needs to rewrite the lyrics to Dolly Parton’s Jolene but change it to Waltine. “I’m begging of you, please don’t take the stand” is a fastball across the plate though.

My favorite sign from the arraignment crowd

I thought a hanging curve was the pitch that hitters dream of.

I don’t know, I’m not really a sports guy. So if the designated runner wants to dunk the tennis ball across the goal line in the last quarter that will be fine too. Trump isn’t the only one who can make up his own rules.

I was thinking it was going to be from Casablanca.

  • Rick: Your cash is good at the bar.
  • Banker: What? Do you know who I am?
  • Rick: I do. You’re lucky the bar’s open to you.

Trump treats the law like Calvinball.

Yep. It’s Trumpbull.

Sure, unless you take casual relief over the hog line in the last chukker, and are given out LBW.

Here is a fun round-up of news related to Tan the Conman’s recent stage* appearance.

  1. Trump turns his day in court into a campaign event despite serious political and legal threats

  2. Trump Swears He Planned to Go Through Those Boxes in Fiery Post-Arrest Speech

  3. Trump Plots Revenge Against Biden in Unhinged Post-Arrest Speech

  4. J.D. Vance Lays Out Plan to Sabotage Federal Law Enforcement Because Trump Was Arrested

Honestly, #2 is my favorite one on this list. Basically, he did not have time to find all of the classified documents he was hoarding because he was being dogged for hoarding classified documents.

*Remember the old adage: “All the world’s a stage, and Trump’s the ham”.
