A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 2)

Mmmmmm, mmmmmm, mmmmm that is some extra tasty schaudenfreude - thank you for sharing!

Ehh, I’m not so sure we can lay that at his feet. It seemed like there was a portion of the populace that would have went along with Nixon’s “It’s not illegal when the president does it” theory. The main difference now is that more members of the legislature are willing to go along with it as long as they stay in power.

Should I call my broker and instruct him to buy shares in Heinz?

We’ll agree to disagree.

Nixon said it once and it was so shocking, we’re still talking about it to the current day. Yet he stepped down when told to and non-verbally understood and acknowledged he was in fact subject to prosecution by accepting Ford’s pardon.

Trump has made being above the law the centerpiece of both his presidency and his 2024 campaign. And while it’s true that if Republican lawmakers had not gone along with this shit we’d be in a far better place, it’s likewise true that Trump has controlled the party by controlling his followers. Anyone who doesn’t fall in line risks shunning, harassment, death threats and worse.

I’m not saying Republican lawmakers don’t have some responsibility. They have a lot of responsibility, especially early on when they nominated Trump in 2016. But Trump, from Day One, has relentlessly worked the levers of power toward making himself a despot. No one else in our history has done such a thing, and he has degraded many of the institutions that we once took for granted would prevent it.

Personally, I hope SCOTUS lets the DC decision stand and decides not to even bother hearing the immunity case. Keep in mind Trump’s attorneys never expected to win the Presidential immunity argument, just delay things. By granting cert, it would only further delay things.

One saving grace (there were others, thankfully) was that he was so incompetent at it. If he had been as smart as he was ruthless, well, I hate to imagine what that would have been like.

I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that we’d already be lost.

New truth from trump. What the fuck is he going on about? Does he own a bunch of AB stock?

Like the Trump Organization?

Isn’t she the woman who played the “prostitute” when O’Keefe was pretending to be a pimp back during their Accorn “sting” days?

He needs $83 million pronto, why not look for more ways to fleece the rubes? When he finds BUD difficult to manipulate, look for him to move on to more typical pump and dump penny stocks.

ETA: did that come out half an hour ago? BUD did suddenly rally 2% near the close today.

I’m pretty sure he didn’t write that. Not enough CAPITALS, and there are too many commas used more or less correctly. (Believe me, I know commas.)

Huh. You are indeed correct. From Wikipedia:

In September 2009, O’Keefe and his associate Hannah Giles published edited hidden-camera recordings in which Giles posed as a prostitute and O’Keefe as her boyfriend, a law student, in an attempt to elicit damaging responses from ACORN employees.

I guess she knew about the “strong evidence of past illegality” because she participated in it herself.

That’s definitely some Anheuser-Busch PR copy prepped for Trump before he contributed his own brand of stupidity. AB CEO Brendan Whitworth is just another right-wing shitbird and no doubt he groveled on his knees with tears in his eyes “Sir, please accept my most profound apologies for blah blah blah…”

I’m just curious just what “Bud Light ad” he’s talking about.
'Cause some definitions are including an ad that was not an Anheuser-Busch ad.

Sounds like someone just received a “campaign contribution”.

Bud Light should immediately make Dylan Mulvaney their national spokesperson.

I find is suspicious because we all know he thinks fallen servicemen & women are losers.

And since when has Trump asked anyone, “What do you think?” or cared?

Perhaps he thinks the ones that got injured seriously enough to be losers couldn’t be working at a beer factory.
