Reportedly we should find out later today just how well that worked out when Engoron’s decision gets issued on the matter of the $370M engorgement case.
Heinlein uses that phrase in Stranger in a Strange Land.
This has made me wonder if such a case existed in Real Life. Heinlein, when he gets his steam up and is charging through a description, isn’t always reliable, and was never one to let truth stand in the way of a good story.
Disgorgement is the word I intended.
I thought engorgement works too, in context.
Doesn’t that word describe, for instance, ticks bloated on blood?
Yes, yes it does.
Yes, Heinlein was refering to the Teapot Dome scandal. Secretary of the Interior Albert Fall was convicted of accepting a bribe, oilman Edward Doheny was acquitted of paying it.
I wasn’t aware of that aspect of the case.
Just a couple of more reasons I love this place. Someone knew my reference, and someone else knew the real life story behind the reference.

And Trump is also barred from serving as an officer of a New York business for three years. Not dissolving his companies, but kicking him out of them. That’s gonna sting.
So how does that actually work? Who will be in charge of all the various companies that Trump and his sons were in control of? There’s the court appointed monitor, but will she be running the companies? Do Trump and sons still get the profits and other benefits from them?
