A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 2)

Honestly, I think he just got tongue tied saying the word “reducing” and made a poor recovery. I’m not saying he is not losing it, but by itself I don’t necessarily see that this is strong evidence.

Now if he had a thirty second blank out like McConnell had started having that would be something else entirely.

I mostly agree with you (as is often the case). Perhaps I should say there are (duh) multiple categories of Trump supporters. Yup, there are plenty of deplorables that Trump has enabled, but the category I’m referring too tends to make up the people that we all turn and shake our heads about: the moms, the grandmoms, the once-close-friends who were pretty normal and now are raving, unreachable fans of the Dancing Orange Monkey.

They’ve (like Lindell) found a new Messiah that will fix all the problems, and to have it happen, all they have to do is show unswaying support and (not so metaphorically) preach the gospel to all and sundry.

Exactly. It’s divide and conquer 101.

Don’t forget the huge right-wing media juggernaut that has been telling them for decades just how many country-threatening problems they have that they might never have noticed on their own.

I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve given Fox and it’s ilk their fair share of the blame in this and many other threads, but you’re right, it’s worth repeating. But aaaaanyway, and to drag us out of this hole, schadenfreude:

https://www.cnn.com/2024/03/15/politics/texas-busing-migrants-donations-invs/index.html

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott boasted shortly after he began soliciting private donations for his controversial migrant busing program that there would likely “be no cost to the state” given the outpouring of support from concerned citizens across the country.

But after nearly two years of fundraising to offset the program’s costs, Abbott’s operation has collected less than half of 1% of the roughly $150 million spent on busing migrants to sanctuary cities, according to a review of state records. And CNN found that the largest donation – $900,000 – never made it into the state’s coffers, either because it was a mistake or a prank.

Granted, we all knew that the cruelty and the media attention was the point, but for Republicans/MAGA to have such an epic fail in their grift is surely worthy of some schadenfreude.

When the mechanic who tells you your car needs a new transmission is also the one who’ll make a profit from replacing the transmission, you should start getting suspicious.

I’ll be at a dead horse here; Fox and related media will never “investigate” this or reveal its failure to their cult followers. The Moran’s will just “believe” that the busing program, Biden’s impeachment, Hillary’s incarceration, My Pillow explosive evidence are done deals. Just get the lies out there in BOLD PRINT and it’s MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

I hate to admit it, but I think you’re right, at least in this instance. He flipped the first two syllables of ‘be reducing’ so it came out “re-be-du…”. I’ve seen that clip several times, but most clips cut off right at the “re-be-du…” and that weird sigh he makes right after, which gives the impression that he’s really losing it. That clip shows him saying what he meant to say right after, which gives the flub a bit more context.

You know what I also hate? I hate that I’m wishing accelerated dementia on anybody, even trump, but this is what things have come to. The fascist idiot is far too close to regaining the Oval Office for my comfort, and it seems like the most likely way to ensure he doesn’t at this point is, if he becomes so incapacitated mentally that there’s no denying it, before the election.

And I’m not actually wishing that trump get dementia, just that if he is going to (not unlikely given his age, habits and family history) that it be sooner rather than later.

I’m getting a little tired of looking forward to feeling some schadenfreude. I just don’t like being that kind of person even when the schadenfreude is justified. I’ve been thinking that I want Trump to live long enough to see his world implode and spend a little time in prison before dying. Now I don’t care about that, I just don’t want him to be elected.

" Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder."

Yeah, I’ve come to accept that I am now That Kind Of Person. I’ve gone from Saint Francis to Francis the Talking Mule, hoping to kick Donnie when he’s down.

Thanks, 'Pubbies.

Sure, I like the word ‘scrambling’.

I misread that as “scambling”, which is oddly appropriate.

“So, we’re going to bet a million dollars, and then you’re going to flip a coin to see if you win it, then I’m going to flip a coin to see if I steal it. See? We both have a 50% chance of getting the money!”

Dr. John Gartner talks about the “neurological smoking gun” that demonstrates that Trump has dementia, even though few psychiatric professionals will go public with their opinion. And it’s not the same as Biden’s minor aging brain issues.

I’ve cued it up to one of the more telling arguments. The first five minutes I’m skipping discuss the differences, if you’re interested.

Threats, low quality blackmail attempts, pleading, rending of garments, intimidation, presenting opportunities to skim our money for their pockets if he wins, blind justice department eyes to suspect or outright illegal practices, but no requests for money.

Mike Pence’s ‘bombshell announcement’ on Friday that he’s not endorsing trump is made less of a ‘bombshell’ by the fact that…

…the reasons Pence offered for his decision were little more than a bland litany of policy issues. Pence said, for example, that he disagreed with Trump for “walking away from our commitment to confronting the national debt.”

Pence went on to say, “I’ve seen him starting to shy away from a commitment to the sanctity of human life. And this last week, his reversal on getting tough on China and supporting our administration’s efforts to force a sale of ByteDance’s TikTok.”

It would’ve been nice if Pence had added “…oh yeah, and also because trump instigated an insurrection in which the mob threatened to hang me, directly as a result of his incendiary statements”.

So not as schadenfreudey as I would have liked, but I’ll take what I can get.

“…and didn’t lift a finger to save me, my family and my Secret Service detail, and even offhandedly told another White House staffer that he was glad to see what was happening.”

This makes me happy: Trump has been unable to get bond for $464 million judgment, his lawyers say

As long as the appeals court doesn’t let the fucker off the hook. But he’s been skating his whole life, so I bet it’ll happen with this too.
