A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 2)

I glanced online at Donald’s truth social posting. He’s been on a tear today, posting shit every hour or so (including a demand that he and Biden debate).

But the best is his all caps question, ARE YOU BETTER OFF THAN YOU WERE FOUR YEARS AGO?

To secure the vote of those who long for the days of toilet paper shortages.

It is with great amusement that I’m reading about Arizona’s Republican death rattle over the abortion law from the 1800s. Republicans are falling all over themselves to try to distance themselves from the decision, including that Kari Lake bitch. You made your bed, boys and girls, now wallow in it. Democrats are gleefully blocking any attempts to repeal the law, and the Pubies adjourned to avoid a blood bath.

Interesting.

Yeah, I can’t decide if I agree with this strategy or not.

Are they? Because it looks to me like the Republicans are blocking Democratic attempts to repeal the law.

In fact I’m struggling to find stories showing the Democrats “gleefully blocking any attempts to repeal the law”. Some Republicans are in favor of repealing it, but they are getting blocked by other Republicans.

I’m in the same boat. It’s the flipside of Trump’s torpedoing of the bipartisan border/immigration policy deal.
ETA: Looks like Chefguy misspoke, or was simply mistaken, or there’s some subtlety here I don’t get.

Well, I did read the article before having coffee, so there’s that, but it sure seems to point to my take on it.

Does it? The closest I can see is this:

It looks to me like the Democrats weren’t blocking the repeal; they were flagging Gress’s hypocrisy. And then the Republicans recessed the House.

My reading of that particular piece is that Democrats in the Arizona legislature want to make sure voters are aware that any Republican efforts to repeal the law are hypocritical and untrustworthy – that is, many of these same Republicans are trying to have it both ways (in favor of an abortion ban, yet not in favor of it).

I still don’t see evidence of Democrats trying to keep the ban in place (but I could be wrong).

(ETA: Ninja’d by Gyrate).

Yeah, I’ll concede the point. I’m just chortling over the chaos in the R party.

That’s always kind of fun to watch, true.

Absolutely.
So far, the Pubs (nationwide) haven’t needed any help in shooting themselves in the foot over abortion.

If at some point they DO need “help,” I wouldn’t put it past certain Democrats to help them (by cynically delaying a pro-choice legal resolution), and I would be torn by that. But at least until now, we can just sit back and enjoy the popcorn.

Way back when SCROTUS shot down Roe, I turned to my wife and said “They’ve just fucked themselves. Their own base is going to scream bloody murder over this.” Turns out that for once I was prescient. State governors and legislatures are passing abortion laws because they’ve badly misread their constituencies, and I believe they’re going to pay for that in upcoming elections.

SCOTUS + scrotum?

Seeing that Truth Social logo in your post reminds me, didn’t they get sued for trademark infringement early on because they stole (and barely modified) someone else’s logo? How did that ever turn out?

I sometimes wish I could call Trump a scrotal zit.

People are saying it’s more like a mushroom than a zit.

You tell 'em, Scrotus!

Yes, it was intentional.

I think we can compromise on a statement that the Democrats aren’t going to make it easy for the Republicans to quietly repeal the law.
