A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 2)

Boris Johnson reaps what he sows:

As mentioned in the Rishi Sunak thread, it’s entirely possible this is a deliberate stunt by a man with a long history of doing stupid things for attention.

That makes sense. He only looks (very) stupid.

He’s incompetent, dishonest, corrupt, bigoted, and an overall blight on the country, but not actually stupid.

I’ve often heard that he looks like a bad copy of Trump. Perhaps it’s the other way around…

Boris deliberately cultivates the “amiable buffoon” persona in order to distract from his utter moral bankruptcy and long history of disastrous failures left in his wake for others to clean up. Trump actually thinks he’s admired.

You forgot ‘lazy’ and ‘lecherous’.

I can agree with this in certain extreme circumstances, where the origin or the message influences its reliability. For example if a woman claiming to have been raped by Pete Buttigieg turns out to be a male worker at the RNC, then doxing him if fully justified. But this is not one of those circumstances.

Why not? A overtly bigoted publication has its staff and subscribers publicly revealed. People have the right to have bigoted views, and express bigoted views… but do bigots have the right to express themselves anonymously? At best I’m unconvinced.

I think I love you.

:notes:This morning I woke up with this feeling/I didn’t know how to deal with and so I just decided to myself :musical_note:

As much as anyone else. And who decides, you?

Sure, I will happily take on that burden. Yes, IMO, bigots shouldn’t have the right to anonymity when spewing hatred. Spew hatred if you want, but others have the right to find out who you are and tell everyone about it.

I meant, who is going to decide who is a bigot? By what process is that determined?

You are aware that you are posting on a board that prohibits doxxing any posters, including trolls and alleged bigots? So go ahead, FAFO to your heart’s content.

I haven’t exactly tried to hide my identity. It would probably take you about 2 minutes to figure it out, if you don’t already know.

But here’s why I’m not worried – for one thing, it’s going to happen anyway. This is the internet we’re talking about. For another, I consider it the consequences of being in a society. Yes, you are free to spew hatred. But if people find out about it, they may say things to you that you don’t like. They may even tell others about you. That’s part of living in a society.

RGD: Doxxing. Originally, my opinion that the only time doxxing was justified/iable, was when you were doxxing a doxxor. But… here’s the thing, over time, I’ve just decided it isn’t worth it. Especially because no matter the justice of nailing a hypocrite, oftentimes it gets their family or friends dragged into the morass. I mean, look at RFK Jr. - a horrific waste of space, but whose entire family has now looked at what he’s become and stands against him.

We aren’t going to know how many others are getting tarred in a single doxxing attack, who may well have worked hard to prevent some useless sack of shit from harming others, or are innocent on their own.

Doesn’t mean that the schadenfreude (this thread, remember) doesn’t flow when some shit-stirrer gets outed, but I just want to avoid the backsplatter on others.

FTR though, while there is a non-zero risk to RWNJs and those associated with them from the magical ‘antifa’ they love to shout about, it’s not a major risk to life and limb, although it certainly can lead to quite a bit of bullying and discomfort.

The risk to various pro-democracy / rule of law / rights to personal choice and body freedom from RWNJ doxxers is absolutely not limited to just threats and insults, and I wanted to make sure I was absolute clear on the lack of equivalency.

You may resume your normal bickering.

When Trump read the transcript of the tape, he said, “That doesn’t sound like something I would say,” Hicks testified.

I assume he looked at the transcript then his eyes glazed over, rendering the thing incomprehensible, and pulled “doesn’t sound like [me]” out of his ass.

Wow! Doonesbury flashback!

Heh. My music app randomly played that song covered by Tenacious D the other day.

OF COURSE I SANG ALONG! What am I gonna do, NOT sing along when Jack Black is channeling the Partridge Family? Come on!
