I was going to say that TFG losing the ability to enter Canada is both misleading and a bit of a no-brainer if you stop to think about it. He’s now a convicted felon who hasn’t completed his sentence, of course he’ll be denied entry. He’ll be denied exit from the United States to anywhere until he’s completed his sentence. Once he’s completed his sentence it’s an entirely different matter.
Regarding voting, if he is sentenced before the upcoming election, he won’t be able to vote until the full term of the sentence is completed, meaning any and all of the following as applicable: the prison sentence, house arrest, parole and probation after completing any prison time. Only after that can TFG appeal to DeSantis to have his voting rights restored in Florida. It’s not a pardon, the conviction stands, it’s the governor of Florida restoring the right to vote, TFG remains a convicted felon. It’s just that Florida is one of the few states that effectively permanently takes away the right to vote by requiring a personal appeal to the governor to restore it. Most states only require felons to complete either the full term or incarceration or incarceration and parole, at which point the right to vote is automatically restored.
Nope. He was convicted in New York. Florida law says “use the rules in the state he was convicted in.”. New York says you can’t vote if you are in prison; other than that, you’re good to go. So, he can vote in Florida (unless NY jails him).
Alan Dershowitz has a new theory as to why Donald Trump’s conviction won’t be overturned by any appeal judges: they don’t want to be “Dershowitz’d.” He imparted this nugget of wisdom on Steve Bannon’s War Room podcast after Trump was found guilty in his hush-money trial on Thursday, according to Newsweek. “People know what happened to me when I defended Donald Trump on the floor of the Senate. Nobody on Martha’s Vineyard would speak to me,” Dershowitz explained, adding that he was also “cancelled” by Harvard.

I’d point out that just like Trump will instantly bring peace to Israel and Ukraine, and how he already successfully built the wall and made Mexico pay for it, we all know that he drained the swamp, during his term - that was, after all, what he promised to do - and there is no more corruption in America thanks to Donald Trump.
And then include some links to the pardoning of Rod Blagojevich and the appointment of Elliott Broidy to the position of the RNC finance chair position, his conviction for bribery, back in the day, and the various indictments attached to him now.
Don’t forget the “terrific” health care plan that he replaced Obamacare with. And his masterful handling of the COVID pandemic which turned out, as promised, to be just a harmless flu that quickly went awsy.
According to a court filing in a related case, Salem settled the lawsuit brought by Andrews for an undisclosed “significant” amount.
But then it says:
A lawyer for Protect Democracy declined to comment on Salem’s statement due to the ongoing case. It is unclear what impact Salem’s apology will have on the lawsuit, which is currently in the discovery phase.
Salem Media was only one of the defendants in the lawsuit. D’Souza and a couple other people who made the film are also defendants. So Salem Media settling does not settle the entire case.
I’m not sure if he’s just lying as usual, or if his mental deterioration is so bad that he genuinely can’t distinguish his own thoughts, such as they are, from the adoring mob’s cheers echoing through his empty head:
Trump then asserted that he never called for Clinton’s jailing.
"I didn’t say ‘lock her up,’ but the people said lock her up, lock her up,” Trump said…
This is typical 7-year-old Trump here. It’s the political equivalent of the “I’m not touching you” game that little kids and trolls sometimes play.
He initiated it, he allowed it at his rallies without speaking against it, @Euphonious_Polemic’s cite proves he supported it actively, but he never actually said the words, so no one is allowed to hold him responsible for it. And anyone who tries to hold him to it is just being UNFAIR! He’s mentally and emotionally stunted and has been his entire life. Let’s never forget that.
While typing up this post it occurred to me, and this point is probably been made elsewhere, that he could have treated this like a John McCain moment. That Town Hall I think it was in 2008? When McCain took a question from an audience member who tried to claim Obama wasn’t American and was actually a Muslim or something like that, and McCain shut it down in front of everyone? Trump could have done something like that and would be a much better ethical foundations to make these sorts of claims today. As it is he’s a venal, lying bastard with no principles so of course he’s going to jump on the first thing that he thinks helps him without considering the broader consequences.
