Trump was claiming during his speech that the empty seats were due to the “liberal” school not letting the 1000’s of supporters standing outside into the arena.
Makes sense. Georgia State University officials, I imagine including the university president himself and the provost, probably stood outside the doors yelling at those wanting to attend the Orange Felon’s rally, “Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries. Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!”
In Trumpworld, this is completely believable.
I notice that the Orange Felon used the same excuse to explain why there were no protestors outside his criminal trial.

And how is the school supposed to do that? Inspect everybody coming in? “You’re okay … you’re okay … you’re not … you’re okay …” Stand outside with batons and pepper spray, threatening everybody over a certain number of attendees?
Never mind, the Trumpists will believe whatever he tells them. If he says that the “liberal” school wouldn’t let his fans in, then they believe that the “liberal” school wouldn’t let his fans in.
The same way they’d believe him if he says that the sun rises in the west. They’re in a cult, and whatever the Dear Leader says, goes.
To be fair, I think you cn assume that everyone going in to a Trump rally is a Trump supporter, based on the fact that they’re going in to a Trump rally.
Or, if your goal is to embarass Trump by having him appear in front of a less-than-full house, then you stop people from going in regardless of their political inclination.
I don’t even have to check the usual suspect online sites to know the magatflatearthers are already saying the time of the pictures is different and the one for their hero was before “everyone” came into the venue.
Damn. How the fuck have we gotten to the poin that (a) Trump is a candidate and (b) anything he blathers is believed by anyone?

Did you ever see the animated movie, “The Point”? Without going into a lot of detail, it featured a character called the Rockman, who said, “You see what you wanna see, and you hear what you wanna hear.” That’s what Trumpists do: they see what they wanna see, and they hear what they wanna hear.
Logic, using the truth, doesn’t work on these people. They are that deep into their cult, that they will never give up. If Trump was to quit the race tomorrow, there would still be a substantial portion who would say, “We must carry Trump’s torch forward,” or similar.
It may have been a kids’ movie, but I’d suggest that the Rockman had a lesson for us adults.

Thing is, the empty seats were throughout the arena. Strange not to have the press in their own section. Trump also said that the only reason people came to Harris’s event at the same arena a few days earlier was that there were entertainers like Megan Thee Stallion performing and that people were leaving five minutes into Harris’s speech.
Another gem was Trump saying to let the supporters in because it was 95 degrees outside. The heat didn’t seem a concern for him at the outdoor rallies held before being shot at.
One of the strangest things for me is the people you see in videos saying, in addition to the usual standard MAGA delusions, that Trump is the only President in their lifetime who has cared about the average little guy. Really? I can’t think of a single thing Trump has ever done in his life that somehow wasn’t for himself. I imagine he despises most of them and that they exist only to be used for his benefit.
I’m confused. Stephen Fowler says the seats were full. Trump complains they weren’t full because liberal officials stopped his followers from entering. Are they both speaking of the same event?
And we’ll just ignore the fact that we don’t have thousands of videos posted by pissed off MAGAts complaining about how they were blocked from attending the rally. I mean, no one would post such a thing in this day and age!

Just a general Schadenfreude-ian observation. Lots of headlines on lots of media about how dramatically things have turned around in just two weeks since Biden dropped out and the Democratic Party coalesced around Kamala Harris. Trump has gone from being comfortably in the lead to now trailing Harris, and there’s lots more to come as she continues climbing in the polls and hitting back at the Orange Menace with the all the energy of a former prosecutor. The Orange Shitstain is now scrambling for excuses not to debate her and is angry and scared, as well he should be. If he doesn’t become president he’s likely to become a jailbird soon as other criminal trials get underway.
I guess that makes some sense about supporters’ subjective feelings. But a lot of people who claim Trump is for the little guy will say crime was lower under Trump, he cracked down on immigration to keep illegals from taking American jobs, gas was cheaper because the US was energy independent, Trump is rich so he couldn’t be bought like the “Biden Crime Family”, inflation wasn’t a thing, the US wasn’t in any wars. Everything was better under Trump in their world.
The Good Liars have a YouTube channel with lots of these types of video interviews. When they fact-check MAGAs in real-time, the response is usually something like “I don’t believe that”.

Trump has no governing principles, so his entire campaign strategy is to demonize the opposition. And he had a nice narrative going against Biden, which he had been peddling since he was still president.
Harris is a complete u-turn, and he only has about 3 months to try to pillory her.
And he’s flailing! “She’s not Black! She’s from San Francisco! She thinks things are funny!!”
As I said, he has nothing to offer; it’s all criticism of the others. With Harris, it’s too little, too late.
