Possibly in intent, certainly not by amount of practice and acquired “skill” (if I can use that word in this context). She may be more realistic, or just have smaller goals. All of this says nothing about her wishes for her son’s future. She may hope that he grows up to be the best Man on a White Horse ever, becomes president, and she can rule like the dowager empress. Or she may hope that he leads a relatively quiet life accumulating lots of money in a more-or-less legitimate way. I don’t think we have sufficient evidence to say either way.
(Trump’s skill, by the way, is not to make the cons and grifts work, except for himself, but to allow himself to slide out from under without a noticeable stain on his character.)
The point that you are missing is that I am pretty positive that Johnny_L.A. does not actually believe that hurricanes are in fact god’s punishment of the South. He is merely using that observation as a rhetorical device to point out the obvious fallacy in the christian nationalist argument that hurricanes are punishment for America’s liberalism. In that if we accept their claims that god uses Hurricanes to punish people’s political views, its their views that are the ones god doesn’t like.
