WTF? Shows how deluded these people are.
It’s because Trump explicitly said that’s what tariffs do.
If Trump told them dogshit was delicious chocolate ice cream they’d believe it until they ate it, then when they tasted it they’d blame the Democrats for making the ice cream gross through Wokeness.
DEI: Don’t Eat Ice cream
Let’s not forget those who voted for Trump because of Gaza. They should be charged for all the oxygen they’re wasting.
It’s remarkable. I work at a Canadian company with a Canadian fan of Tucker Carlson and his ilk; in the past two days I’ve learned that Swedes didn’t get Covid vaccinations (disproven in seconds) and that Trump clearly loves his country. How can anyone look at Donald Trump and see a patriot? I’m a more patriotic American than Donald Trump and I’m not even American.
And those who didn’t vote for Harris because of Gaza. They shouldn’t be allowed to have oxygen.
I was driving somewhere last evening, and I heard the last few minutes of the PBS NewsHour on the radio. They were talking about the prospects for peace in Gaza now that Trump has been elected. I got the impression that Netanhayu had given some sort of indication that he was now open to a cease fire.
When I got home, I searched for some news story to back that up, but couldn’t find anything. I was quite prepared to post some choice words about him. I may have misunderstood the discussion I heard; they may have just been speculating, rather than reacting to some actual annoucement or leak.
However, and I may be overly cycnical, but I wouldn’t be all that surprised if Netanyahu deliberately scuppered any peace efforts until after Trump was elected. Which, if it’s true, may he rot in hell.
Benedict Fucking Arnold was a more patriotic American than the melon felon is.
And we thank you for it.

many Trump voters don’t understand how tariffs work.
Most people don’t understand how tariffs work. Let’s not pretend that many Harris voters have an incisive knowledge of these things either , because it’s not something they have the need to learn for their everyday lives. They’re boring until they affect you or me.
I should add that I didn’t know what they were until Trump started throwing the word around either, so I include myself in that camp.

I’d agree. The Democrats should have had a better message. They could have hammered something like Trump’s tariffs will be a tax on American companies that you, the people, will pay for when they pass it along to you.
I think most people do understand what a tax is, in general, and don’t like paying them. If you’re old enough to vote, you’re probably paying more than just sales taxes. Even as a little kid, I knew how to figure out sales tax for anything I wanted to buy in the store (in my case it was easy; sales tax was 5%, so divide 10% [move decimal point] and by 2: $8.40 → 42 cents). I didn’t like it back then.
“Trump tariffs=US taxes” could fit on a bumper sticker or baseball cap.
Here’s a video from the anti-Trump site The MeidasTouch Network on tariffs:

Trump’s economic plan to increase tariffs and deport undocumented workers would be a dagger in the back of the roaring US Economy. Francis Maxwell reacts.
The pundits on MSNBC were hammering home that tariffs = taxes that importers have to pay, and they pass it on to you. But Harris kept saying tariffs = Sales Tax. Which is almost the same thing, but not explained properly, IMO. And of course Trump was either lying or too stupid to know that Americans pay the tax, not China.

I lean towards “lying.” It’s Border Wall 2.0: “We’re going to get someone else to pay for it!”

This is what really kills me. These people think they’re so much better-informed than us, and yet, they just don’t know things that are so easy to find out. My local Trumper was saying how he liked Trump because he was a “successful businessman”. When I asked, he had literally never heard about Trump’s multiple bankruptcies. The same with all the BS about the Haitians in Springfield. He knew all the negative BS claims, but had no idea that they’d been refuted. It’s not that he disagreed with the refutations, mind you, he’d heard absolutely nothing about them. And yet he kept bragging about “how many sources” he reads.

Hey, how can foxnews .com, OANN online and the Intellectual Dark Web ™ all be wrong?
I vote for stupid. Trump Airlines, Trump casinos, Trump University, Trump Steaks, Trump Vodka.
All failed.
I’m sure there are many more. He is a bully that surrounds himself with yes men. Those people are just as guilty IMHO of making this monster.

For every problem, there is a solution that is simple, obvious, and wrong. Those are the solutions that Trump offers. His followers want them to work, so they convince themselves that they will.
When the policy eventually fails, they don’t notice because they’re distracted by a bigger, better solution to some other problem.

Ah yes. H.L. Mencken. I love that quote.
Another - “Democracy is a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance.”
I still believe in democracy though I am being proven wrong.

Democracy doesn’t guarantee that everything will always be fine. And it sure isn’t perfect. It’s just the best system we’ve come up with so far.
