A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 2)

Which means that, where Trump 1 had a motive to appear to do what he’d promised to do on the campaign rail, Trump 2 - with no potential for a third term - is basically free to ignore everything that he said on the campaign trail.

To my recollection, there were very few things that he actually worked to achieve during his administration. I recall that he pushed very hard for the Wall. He also tried to get Congress to agree to something in terms of health care reform but I never saw any indication that he had a particular plan for it himself. He really did - at moments - try to reduce US military presence outside our borders.

Outside of that, he did things like shutting down e-Verify and increasing seasonal worker numbers - so, no true passion to get rid of immigrants; he kept passing exceptions to his tariffs on China, and those tariffs were always too small to do anything about China at all, it just allowed (with tax cuts) him to shift the tax burden from the wealthy to the poor; he did some major deals with Saudi Arabia, trying to give them US military hardware against the permission of Congress - so no true hatred of Islamic people.

In all of that, he was probably mostly fixated on the Wall because it was a way to dump infrastructure bucks into sham corporations owned by his friends and business partners. Or, at the best, he was motivated to do it because he was made fun of for it so much.

For healthcare, I’d venture to guess that his motive was to accomplish the impossible. Obama pulled it off. Trump didn’t. Once he failed, he stopped caring about it anymore. Given that he has no plan of his own, I doubt that he’ll go for it again.

So, really, the only thing that we know of that he’s consistent on and pushy about is de-arming the USA. Whether that’s because of politics or lingering compromising materials in foreign lands, I don’t know, but that’s probably the only political agenda that we can think, confidently, he’ll continue on.

Otherwise, his goal is just to be talked about. He’ll do any other thing that he can be talked into as being something only a great and powerful leader like him would do - to the extent that is created headlines.

Oh, he’ll fix health care, and fix it good. I’m worried about Medicare. Many are worried about Social Security.

In Trumps tiny, tiny brain, he doesn’t need either. So neither should anyone else.

You guys have the weirdest ideas what “Schadefreude” is.

As the bear said: are you sure you’re coming here to hunt?

Let’s be fair: we’ve all had a huge shock to the system this week. We have a certain need to respond to what’s said even if it doesn’t strictly fall into thread categories.

The pro-autocracy forces may not be providing us with much schadenfreude for a while. The best we might be able to hope for is stories about Trump surrogates, drunk on power, committing acts of spectacular over-confidence. Picture Stephen Miller, glorying in his immense power to express his disdain for Spanish-speaking people (by deporting them en masse), doing a tightrope act on top of Wall—and falling off.

That may be all we get for a while.

Watching Trumps mental decline LIVE will be satisfying in a Schadenfreudey way.

IF they let us. Oh, they’ll have cameras and they’ll tell him he’s going out live. But they may AI it (so that when he watches himself on FoxNews later, as we know he loves to do, he’ll actually be watching a mash-up of stuff he said in 2016, when he was competent).

If the AI gets blatant enough we might enjoy that, of course. I predict the AI Trump’s waist will get smaller and his shoulders broader with every new video. You won’t be able to tell him apart from a Jean Paul Gaultier cologne commercial model.

A cape wouldn’t hurt either.

And Steve Bannon will have the correct number of fingers.

No capes! Or, maybe, yes, capes, given this clip:

But wasn’t that only as a means of threatening our allies? (Our as in America’s, not Trump’s.)

The sad thing, though, is once he’s finally and fully mentally unfit–and too obviously, at that–then he’ll be removed from office and Vance will take over.

Oh, this is the schadiest-schadenfreud! Nikki didn’t suck Trump’s little mushroom hard enough or long enough. I guess. What a burn!

I will not be inviting former Ambassador Nikki Haley, or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, to join the Trump Administration, which is currently in formation. I very much enjoyed and appreciated working with them previously, and would like to thank them for their service to our Country. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

Hands up, everyone who thinks that Trump wrote that post all by his own lonesome.

I thought Pompeo was a christboy like Barr, dovetailing perfectly into all that P. 2025 schtuff.

You didn’t think Trump actually gave a shit about Project 2025, did you?

As Robot_Arm noted, that’s certainly disputed.

Nixon pulling a similar trick with South Vietnam in 1968 is pretty well-established, by comparison.

Yeah, Trump’s people are all about it, but he personally couldn’t care less.

Well, he has a cape (an American-flag cape, of course) on his “superhero” NFT image. He also has an astronaut NFT image, but no private eye – I still can’t figure out why Tracer Bullet didn’t make the cut alongside Stupendous Man and Spaceman Spiff.

Wow, a coincidence…I just read today about the Richard Nixon’s manipulations in the bio by John Farrell, Richard Nixon, A life. I knew about Reagan, but not Nixon, although it didn’t surprise me. Farrell mentioned how this kind of thing was illegal, but alas, it could not be proven. Even so, Nixon was eventually held to some consequences, although it took a few years. I don’t accept how we have normalized Trump’s actions so that he will never pay for any of his crimes.

Mitch McConnell scheduled the Senate leadership election for Wednesday and it’s a secret ballot, and maga is furious.

This is one reason why they’re going to struggle to get much done, thank fucking goodness.
