A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 2)

He’s also called them worse than that since. It’s on.

You are giving him far too much credit. He reacts to the momentary irritant just like any other bacteria. There is no thinking involved.

Donald Trump himself has called many of his supporters “suckers”, “losers”, et cetera and even told them that he doesn’t care about their votes, and despite all of his promises of protecting his followers and pay their legal bills if they beat up protestors, he has yet to put his money where his mouth is. (Yes, he campaigned that he would pardon January 6 insurrectionists, but then, he had almost two weeks to do that previously and he did fuck all, so I guess we’ll see what this new promise is worth.)

Until Elon says something nasty about Trump himself, this is all just churn between MAGA and ‘Dark MAGA’, which frankly is probably something that Trump loves because it means (through his narcissistic lens) that they’re all fighting to curry his favor. Laura Loomer may believe that she is Trump’s ‘special girl’ but that isn’t going to stand up to any test of who is more influential via-à-vis Elon. And there is literally nothing that any MAGA congressperson can do to Elon Musk, while he can credibly threaten to fund an even more radical primary contender or even set his legions of attorneys upon them, as SLAPP-suing people for inconsequential or imagined slights is second nature to Musk at this point.

There is certainly no strategy coming from Trump. He is, however, amenable to ‘suggestions’ from his inner circle of advisors (many of whom have their own plans) at least until they get caught out saying something he doesn’t like.

Um, Steve, I think a fair number of those folks are proud of being racists … (see also: pot, kettle).

It’s easy not to care about Godzilla until he’s stomping in your town, Bannon. He’s been in Trumps’ graces for so long that he doesn’t remember what the cold feels like.

Or until the next suggestion comes along. It’s always been my understanding that while he’s easily influenced he’s also highly unreliable in part because he constantly switches his position according to the most recent sycophant he talks to.

Thus my comment momentary irritant and bacteria.

The impending Maelstrom will be quite entertaining.

I’m seen some Trump supporters online taking some copium for his H-1B stance. I’ve seen a lot of people in the MAGAsphere arguing that all politicians go back on campaign promises and Kamala would have been worse anyway. Others have drank the Kool-Aid and say Trump has only been against illegal immigration and was always fine with legal immigration. While it’s delightful to see the likes of Laura Loomer realize she’s been the sucker the whole time, I’m hard pressed to think this might really lead to any major consequences for Trump or the MAGAsphere in general.

As I recall first term Trump was vocally in favor of bringing in skilled workers, from say Norway, it was just the unwashed hordes from “shit-hole” countries that he was opposed to. So this isn’t a complete change. As for the actual process becoming more difficult under his administration, I wouldn’t take that is being part of a policy decision on his part, but rather a lack of understanding that blanket policies aimed at weeding out the undesirables, might make it more difficult to keep the “right kinds” of people.

The problem the cultists have is that it isn’t Norway that Elmo and Vivek want to import cheap labor from.

On the whole I suspect that’s right.

There is one somewhat hypothetical effect of this blow-up, combined with the Luigi Mangione story—in which right-wing pundits were confident their audience would fall in line with seeing it as a ‘Left-Wingers Applaud Death of Noble CEO, aren’t Left-Wingers Awful!’ story–and they didn’t.

That amorphous possible effect: the Base is getting used to doing something they never even considered doing during the past eight years— questioning their instructions from the Dear Leader.

Does that have the potential to mean something? I don’t know. I hope so.

They booed him once during a speech when he encouraged COVID vaccinations. It’s not totally unheard-of.

Laura Loomer tried to pull a you-can’t-ban-me-I-quit on Elon by starting an account on Bluesky… and immediately got banned.

Heh, “Bluesky requires that users do harm to others”. I suspect something may be inauthentic about this notification.

I noticed the same thing almost immediately.

Maybe she can start her own subreddit.

Podcast from Russia with Tucker?

I suspect Loomer made it up completely.

eh, forget it
