That dissection of Trump was a masterpiece – thank you for posting! A fine piece of writing, and absolutely true in all respects. I love the way it starts with typical British understatement (“Trump lacks certain qualities which the British traditionally esteem”) then very quickly picks up steam!

Random anecdote: In our spring '23 local elections, the seven library board candidates weren’t listed with party affiliations. I had to research each of them to ferret out the MAGAts. Fortunately, it wasn’t hard. Unfortunately, only three were clearly MAGA, so I had to dig deeper to decide which three of the four sane candidates to vote for.
