A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 3)

Ah, is this a bunch of made-up foofarah? Sad!

They un-redacted it and added my name in. 600 times! SAD!

As a Kentucky resident, I’m conflicted about this. While i have no issue with the schadenfreude aspect of Trump voters receiving retribution for voting for him, it does hurt the state economy, and not everyone who works there was a Trump supporter.

What are Trump’s tariffs doing to Canada’s economy?

Which factors into my being conflicted about it. It’s not a cut-and-dried issue for me.

Collateral damage from Fuck Around and Find Out.

Don’t like it? Work harder at getting the vote out in the midterms. This should incentivize people.

Who am I kidding? They’ll just blame Biden.

It’s hard to be enthusiastic about watching MAGAts get their just desserts because you know many people who didn’t deserve it are also getting hurt. I can take some small solace watching the current administration fall flat on their faces, but I can’t forget we’re all being hurt in the process.

Well, that, and the implicit recognition we all - innocent bystanders and even MAGA themselves - are better off if and when the clown show eventually ends.

I do wish there was a way to accomplish that without decent people affected, but that train left the station long, long ago.

Wars are never won without sacrifice on the part of the good guys. You think Canada’s economy is all loaves and fishes right now?

Deleted this was a bit too mean.

May I point out that it isn’t just Canadians? This British person is also boycotting his favorite whiskies.

Good peaty Scottish substitutes, should they be needed: Caol Ila; Lagavulin; Ardbeg.

Early ratings of the Trump Kennedy Center Honors broadcast last night are registering as the lowest rated broadcast in the history of the Kennedy Center Honors.

Oh. So it’s the highest rated ever per Trump.

‘The ratings are in fact tremendously high, some people are saying the highest ratings ever.’

Heh, I’m in the US, and even I decided to get Japanese whiskey on my last trip. It’s Suntory time!

Well, congratulations to anyone from other countries who’ve been boycotting American liquor. From reports, the warehouses are full of unsold American whiskey, so you all get credit.

I understand that Suntory now owns Jim Beam. However (I could be wrong) I don’t think that the Beam distilleries make the Japanese brands. Someone who’s more knowledgeable about the liquor business can confirm or deny this.

You are not wrong.

Indeed. But I’m not disappointed in Japan. I’m disappointed in my own countrymen. Plus, I had kind of grown tired of bourbon. I lingered in front of the Four Roses section for a moment, but decided to go Japanese. I thought about Mars Iwai, but decided to go with the less flavorful Japanese whiskey. Beam was never a consideration.

And yes, the bottle I have lists it is a blend of the product of Hakushu, Chita and Yamazaki distilleries. None from Kentucky.

I am a huge fan of nigori sake myself.

I believe this is correct. One of their other distilleries in the same town makes craft brands like Knob Creek, Basil Hayden, and a few others from before the buyout, but none from the other Suntory subsidiaries, as far as I know. The big distillery won’t make anything but it did provide supporting operations like bottling and so on for that one, so it won’t be 100% closed for the year.
