Wolf Blitzer claimed to see a gunman and Secrer Service say they have a shooter in custody.
One agent announced a shooter was in custody over the radio, the pool said.
This report quotes law enforcement saying the shooter was killed.
Law enforcement sources had told CBS News, however, that the shooter was killed.
Looks like the event is postponed a month. Trump wanted it to continue but law enforcement (the adults) of course wants to investigate, and is concerned about safety.
He added, “I have spoken with all the representatives in charge of the event, and we will be rescheduling within 30 days.”
It must have been a rogue FBI, Secret Service or other federal law enforcement officer. Everyone else in that building had been thoroughly screened. Don’t let them tell you it was a Palestinian, or Iranian, or immigrant. It was an inside job.
Very possibly. Or alternatively, the whole “shots fired” was horseshit, and the person in custody is some poor shlub who is going to be a scapegoat.
My understanding is that the shooter got to a security checkpoint and opened fire, so didn’t actually enter anything.
But it’s early and there’s all kinds of info. I am not 100% confident about anything being reported at this point.
Reports are saying the shooter is in custody and named Cole Tomas Allen of Torrance, CA. He was apparently staying in the hotel. A grad of CalTech with a Masters in engineering and a school teacher. 31 yo.

Look, conspiracy theories are cool and I’d love if some of them were true… but there are a lot of Americans who don’t like Trump, and a lot of Americans with guns. I’ll put my trust in Occam’s Razor and accept that things are pretty much as they appear, at least unto new information comes in.
