I mailed my Primary ballot in today. I marked “None of these Candidates” for all I could. Weak protest, I know.
Still, good on you.
Well, what Trump has done is if the do get a nuke, they will use it. And now they want one more than ever.
Yup 100%. Never have I, and never will I vote for these criminals.
They had a number of chances to fix this, but they looked away.
Seconded. After 1/6/21, I swore I would never ever vote for a Pubbie.
I used to at least consider Republicans’ arguments. They have proven to virtually always be wrong. And, since the nomination of Mr. Potato Head, they have shown that they are, in fact, fascists. They’ve been getting worse and worse since Newt Gingrich and his Contract on America*.* I will never vote for a Republican until they all become Democratic Socialists.
* Yes, I know.
Do they even have any arguments anymore? Mostly what I hear from them these days is just name calling. And not just from the Orange One, although he, of course, is the worst at that.
That sounds suspiciously woke
I’ve voted for Republicans now and then in local and state elections when they were the better candidates, but I’ve never voted for a Republican for any Federal post, and I doubt I ever will, especially in the Trump Era.
I am all amazement.
I used to do this, especially for a few I knew personally at the local level. But they chose to continue associating themselves with pedophiles, fascists, and grifters. If there’s no viable non-Republican candidate, then “None of the Above” it is
I registered as a Republican* to help a viable Republican candidate, “None of the Above” was the only candidate that wasn’t either MAGA or clinically insane.
*First time I’ve registered for any party primary in NJ in my 62 years.
I know there’s been a lot of fuss and concern about your amazing Trump phones that may or may not have been temporarily delayed*, but don’t worry! They’re coming this week-ish!
*Mention of possible delays in no way indicates that delays happened, or accepts any penalties from any possible delay.
For decades, I’ve told people they shouldn’t think the president has much effect on economic cycles, either way. Some, but not that much. You shouldn’t blame the president THAT much for a downturn, nor praise him THAT much for a time of prosperity.
But this time, it’s objectively true that a president (enabled by a rubber-stamp Congress) really IS responsible for a downturn (as measured by several indices). It’s all so unnecessary this time, and so driven by moronic actions by that one man.
As has happened in several plane crashes, things would have kept improving if he had done NOTHING — that was the cycle we were in — but he had to pull a Bonin and stall the plane for no good reason whatsoever.
Yes. As I see it, the first is because the economy is a very large and complicated self-organizing system that can’t really be controlled very well by the government even when it’s designed to be (and command economies seldom worked well either). And the President isn’t even the entire government (not that Trump ever got that memo).
But, Trump is demonstrating the old principle that it’s much easier to destroy than it is to create or preserve. There’s a pretty limited amount a President can do to make the economy better, but he can certainly make a good try at burning it all down.
And a global system. The US has an outsized role within that system, but it is fundamentally transnational — globally interconnected and interdependent.
Correct.
In fairness to Trump (ugh) he certainly isn’t the one who came up with the idea that the President is God-King of the World and has unlimited authority over it, and could fix everything if he just tried. He’s just the first who seems to actually believe it personally.
I used to argue the same thing. But this is the first president in my lifetime who enacts policy seemingly with the deliberate intent to hurt the United States. And the first time I can think of a Congress willing to back policies they must know will hurt the United States.
Otherwise he might send out a mean tweet at them. Fucking cowards.
Indeed.
