Follow up: Andrew and Tristan Tate arrested in Florida
Influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan have been arrested in Miami after British authorities issued 38 new charges against them, including allegations of rape and sex trafficking.
The United Kingdom’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) released a statement saying that the two men had been arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service on Saturday. The CPS said it was “seeking extradition” for the two brothers, aiming to bring them to Britain to face a total of 59 charges.
I’ll believe these two will actually face any real justice only when and if it happens. Odds are they will skate from this, too. But hopefully they are at least sweating a bit, the bastards.
I don’t know, why arrest them if there are no plans to extradite? Were they charged with anything in Miami?
Are you suggesting that the Crown Prosecution isn’t going to pursue these charges? Or that Trump will try to intervene in the extradition process? Surely in the latter case it would have made far more sense to instruct the DOJ not to execute the arrest warrant in the first place. With the extradition request in place and the Tates in custody, I think it’s far more likely that Trump has now never even heard of these guys.
I am expressing a deep cynicism with regard to the legal ramifications often experienced by assholes with money and connections. For example, in the article I originally cited:

However, last year, the Tate brothers were allowed to leave Romania and travel to the United States. That was despite efforts by British authorities to have the two men extradited to the UK over earlier charges.
3 years on and the worst they got was a couple of months of house arrest and that case is clearly going nowhere. And the UK has been trying to get them extradited for years with no success.
So basically: I’ll believe it when I see it. Their arrest in Miami is a good first step, but that’s all it is so far.
Out of curiosity: do you happen to have an idea how much money they have and which connections they enjoy?

Given the advantages to their “brand” of presenting themselves as hugely successful, I’m inclined to take the higher estimates with considerable salt, but they’re evidently not hurting for a few million here and there, at least.
As for connections, there appears to be evidence linking the Tates directly to the Trumps, though I don’t know how close the connections are:

Tate, 36, was arrested years after he translated a career in kickboxing into life as a controversial online influencer. Women have been central to his plan to build wealth — both through a large adult webcam operation he ran with his brother, and through selling online courses on how to manipulate women, as Reuters has reported.
A BBC article published last year about the Tate’s winning an appeal in Romanian court regarding their assets states:
Court documents released in June indicated the brothers had amassed millions of euros and acquired expensive assets and properties via their business activities, which included adult content and online self-help courses.
So, according to court documents, at least “millions of euros” plus properties and “expensive assets,” which likely refers at least in part to the luxury cars mentioned above.

Yes. We have a treaty with the UK for this (.pdf warning). I would not expect anything to happen quickly, though.

For the record: I don’t believe that this horrible thing from Uncanny Valley that looks a lot like it was AI slop inspired has cost Mr. Furnari even close to the 100,000 $ he claims. He is just whining.
