I remember the Trump video from a few years back. Shit like that is why it’s hard to tell satire from real life.
God did give us Trump. Because not enough locusts were available.
The locusts were supposed to work with Trump, but even locusts have standards.
I thought the locusts voted him into office?
What voted him into office was, tragically, tens of millions of americans.
In case you’re not aware, a “locust” isn’t a species. It’s actually a description of a behavior; in particular, a species of grasshopper in Africa can go from being peaceful to becoming widely destructive when a time of scarcity triggers a chemical change in their brains.
I was making the analogy that Americans are losing their minds after being subjected to right wing lies, a new public acceptance of bigotry, normalization of terrible behavior, rule of law being suspended for the “right” people, etc.
They’re like locusts swarming polls for their own destruction. Voting in a convicted felon who organized a failed insurrection, who committed espionage act violations, was recorded attempting to extort Georgia officials into faking vote counts, was found by a jury to have committed rape, and so on. Doesn’t matter, he’s their guy. In the pasr such a person couldn’t even come within sniffing distance of the White House. Hatred and ignorance has triggered people like locusts.
Thank you for the explanation of your thought process, much appreciated.
I think that dehumanising people with different opinions (which I dont now think you were doing) risks making the problem of undoing the rot much harder. Sorry if I’m not explaining myself well, it’s late here.
Demographic anxiety.
Trump would never have gained power in his 20th-century attempts, because whites weren’t yet anxious enough.
This freaked some people out enough to let them overlook massive corruption and incompetence—so long as Their Guy would be the Hammer of the Non-Whites.
No schadenfreude here, sadly, unless it’s for the entire world—being made much, much poorer this very minute by the efforts of Donald and his Band of Venal Morons.
It would’ve been fun to listen in on the phone call where Trump reassured a Saudi leader after the attack on the country’s oil pipeline.
(imagining a happy group of Saudi royalty dancing around in their robes, chanting “it’s going to be fine and dandy, Trump has so decreed”).
Well, I know that I would certainly be reassured. Who wouldn’t, hearing that from such a wise and skillful statesman?
This is a short but very telling video showing trump progressively lowering expectations for the midterms over time; beginning with typical bragaddocio about how much the Repubs are going to absolutely crush the midterms… to “eh, the party in power always loses the midterms. Nobody can explain it. They still love me, they just don’t like the Republican party that much. Whaddaya gonna do? (shrug)”. trump is getting ready to throw his own party under the bus! “The Republican party? I hardly know them. I think they brought me coffee once”.
For someone who brags incessantly about anything having to do with himself against all evidence and reality, and also is doing everything he can to sabotage the process, the level to which he’s willing to accede that maybe the midterms may not go so well for the Repubs toward the end of the video is very telling. At least, it gave me a little frisson of schadenfreude…
Strange. That doesn’t spell YMCA…
I was expecting some blokes pissing on the course.
But this is better ![]()

This looks fun!
Rep. Stephen Lynch gave Scott Bessent an earful.
During Bessent’s appearance before the House Financial Services Committee, Lynch said Trump does not have “a grasp” of “what we’re dealing with” regarding AI.
“I’ll be honest, I don’t think the president could spell AI if I gave him the first letter,” quipped the Massachusetts Democrat, the ranking member of a House Financial Services subcommittee focused on AI.
