A Perfectly Reasonable Amount of Schadenfreude about Things Happening to Trump & His Enablers (Part 3)

This doesn’t sound like a native English speaker. “America is grateful all the time for…”? “We suggest Ms. Williams to thank them…”?

I suggest DHS to deport the spokesperson.

To a country he or she has never been before, obvs.

You can’t deport AI.

They would have done better if they’d used AI.

I’ve loved her music for years, now I have another reason to love her.

Paramore’s song “Ignorance” comes to mind here.

The Images page (Google) shows not only the statue, but rows of small models of it, in a variety of colors.

If these are being sold* they might be a popular prop at the next No Kings, on Saturday the 17th (ten days away).

To take a different slant: there are still some upcoming debates, in the time leading up to November 3. Perhaps a model of the statue could be placed on each GOP candidate’s podium, for him or her to appropriately worship…?

*Turns out that those with 3D printers can get a free file that will let them make their own!

And I’m sure if Natalie does pass this on, the asshole will read it as “plaque” and start beaming that smug smile of his.

“Um, sir…”

Nobel peace price awarded to ICC judge

Who happens to be a South Africa woman of color. Strike!

Catsup must be fairly running down the walls at the White House this morning.

Trump has imposed new sanctions on the ICC since the Nobel announcement.
" Hours after the award was announced in Norway, the Trump administration imposed sweeping new sanctions on the ICC as part of a campaign to dismantle the tribunal that the U.S. believes has become politicized and attempted to unfairly and illegally prosecute Americans and Israelis on war crimes charges."

I’m waiting for the inevitable 2am social media post calling her “low IQ” and how much bigger his IQ and worthiness are

Catsup, and sanctions. Bolding mine, translated from the German Handelsblatt with the help of DeepL(dot)com:

On Friday, the US government under President Donald Trump imposed far-reaching sanctions against the International Criminal Court (ICC). The move came just a few hours after former ICC judge Navi Pillay was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

Washington takes particular issue with the arrest warrants issued by the court last year against Israeli government officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Furthermore, the ICC has in the past conducted investigations into alleged crimes committed by US soldiers in Afghanistan, although these have since been closed.

The Court, established in 2002 to prosecute war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide, is based in The Hague and has 125 member states. These include all EU countries as well as all NATO members, with the exception of the USA and Turkey. The South African lawyer Navi Pillay, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for her work in international criminal justice, served as a judge on the Appeals Chamber of the ICC from 2003 to 2008.

At the award ceremony, the Nobel Committee stated that it had wanted to send a message at a time when “judges and institutions of international law are under political attack”. An international legal system in which war criminals are held to account and victims receive justice is a prerequisite for a peaceful world.

US sanctions generally prohibit all US-based companies from engaging in any form of cooperation with an organisation subject to sanctions. This forces banks to close accounts, insurers to terminate insurance cover and software companies to cease cooperation.

For months, the court’s management has been preparing for possible sanctions against the institution itself. Among other things, the office computers have been switched from Microsoft software to open-source alternatives, and new arrangements have been put in place for banking and health insurance.

Oh, boy, somebody is fuming right now. I would not like to be close when this orange bile-filled furuncle bursts.

I’ve been thinking lately that the next President, assuming a Democrat, should have Trump arrested and turned over to the ICC. Do it quickly before any judge has a chance to place an injunction.

If something is too nice to be true, it usually isn’t. But what a nice fantasy this is! The complications and ramifications would be epic. Please excuse me now, I have a little day-dreaming to do.

A fantasy a bit more plausible is Trump incompetently travelling to some country that respects the ICC, being detained there and the Democratic president doing absolutely nothing about it, not even a pro-forma protest.
If anybody complains a simple “What would Trump do if the situation was reversed?” should suffice.

ETA: on the other hand the SC did say that nothing a president does in the exercise of his presidential role is illegal, so I would guess kidnapping Trump and sending him to Le Hague would be perfectly legal.

If Heinz would just come out with gold-colored catsup…

The most we can realistically hope for is the teaching in history of how totally awful Donald Trump and his actions were, long after he’s dead. That will be his legacy.

Does the ICC even want him for anything?

Doing a quick search, I believe the only charges that have ever been filed against Trump have been state and federal domestic charges. Nothing international yet.
