This is not one of those ‘I have no experience but this great education but no one will hire me!’ things.

The employer (not the OP’s company, if you had bothered reading for comprehension, but a small business of a friend whom she is assisting) wants someone with experience. Depending on how small the business, they likely have no training budget or program and need someone who can hit the ground running.

Working a series of jobs for 2 or 3 months at various fast food places and gas stations for the past 7 years does not make you an ideal candidate for my admin job. It makes you a pain in my ass.

Obviously the applicant didn’t read the requirements. After getting this for the 20th time, venting is fine, not arrogant.

If your point is that you are projecting your own job search hardships on the OP, then yes, you have. Either that or your point is that El Presidente is a troll, and then yes, you have made that point too.

Oh, and I forgot to point out the OP is mocking candidates grammar and spelling errors, and there must be at least a dozen in his post.

I guess she holds resumes, cover letters, and thank you notes to a much higher standard than a message board post. Fancy that.

Look don’t get me wrong, I understand where the OP is coming from, and if you are a job candidate, maybe you should heed some of his advice. It’s the smug attitude and looking down at people who you don’t think are as good as you that I object to. Millions of Americans and Canadians get their souls crushed on a daily basis by being let go or rejected by employers. They don’t need HR people like the OP rubbing salt in their wounds.

(bolding added) Had you actually read the post rather than seeing what you wanted to see, you would see that about 20% of the resumes were short-listed, which is a fairly good percentage. However, alice_in_wonderland pitting was about the resumes that had no business being submitted at all, not about crushing souls. Figure that…ranting about something in The BBQ Pit. What is this world coming to? What will happen next? Will they be questions with factual answers in GQ? Kitten posts in MPSIMS? The mind boggles.
