A post-Christmas MMP

I like that name. Our Outside Cat Adam can be a Damn Cat sometimes.

3%? Gee, can they spare it?

sari, I worked for a GM subsidiary for several years. My discount was 8.2% and I drove quite a few Chevy trucks (the one I just retired was a Chevy). As far as the Darts go, they were on hiatus for about 30 years before coming back out with them during Chrysler’s throwback phase. Mine was a '74.

I haven’t done much today, but I did get out of the house. I’ll step back out to pick up something for supper. I’m thinking barbeque if the good place is open. If not, then it’s Thai, Lao, Chinese or Indian takeout.

How does that work, do you get 8.2% off the sticker price, or do you haggle with the salesman, come to an agreement, and then pull out your 8.2%?

You come to an agreement, then mention you get the discount. AFAIK it doesn’t cost the dealer anything as the discount comes from GM.

We used to get a new car every year as my father would sell the old car for the price of the new one. He was getting a 33% discount. I thought we were rich. He was being smart, he’d have a new car that was still under warranty and never had a car payment.
Good old days, when he made a bundle, had stock options, fantastic insurance, and a great retirement plan. He was able to retire at 50 because when your age plus your years of service equaled 81 you could retire. At 50 and an half he had 30 and a half years in.

Home again, home again, jiggedy, jiggedy, jig.

Operating with a huge sleep deficit. Only slept a few hours since Thursday.

I will fill y’all in tomorrow on the “never-ending wedding”.

sari, I’d probably qualify for the discount, but the choice is “New car” or “used paid for car plus hockey tickets”. So I went with what made me happy. And my dad gets the family discount, plus one for being a GM owner since the 60’s, plus he has a GM rewards credit card. With the trade in, they might be paying him to take a new car every few years.

Dinner tonight is herbed poke chops, blackeyed peas with country ham and jalapenos, and sweet potatoes. I might make a cup of spinach, so I get my lucky greens in.

Welcome back, Butters!

doggio, it sounds like maybe buying a used car from your dad might work. :stuck_out_tongue:

flytrap, it was like sari said: make your deal, then apply the discount. More years than not, I passed my discount to a family member not working for GM.

This IS my fathers Oldsmobile!"

I don’t think that buying a used car from anyone associated with Dogbutt is a Good Idea.

Just sayin’.

Swampy, sometime after midnight, I saw Fergie on the TV; she used to be a part of the Black Eyed Peas; does that count?
Twas a loverly day for a vacation, was walking the boards in just a t-shirt (on the upper half; was appropriately attired on the bottom half as we was in 'Lantic City, not :eek:Wally World:eek:) after surf & sand; even got a milkshake.
We also walked past A’dam Good Deli, but as we didn’t go in, I don’t know if they’re good, damn good or just meh.

Shouldn’t Dominick be back at the North Pole, or It-ly by now?

It gets worse ---- I used it to make a total of 4 pots of tea today. The OW has a cold and I just flat-out like brewed tea.

FIRST!!!

Pretty much a do-nothing day…apparently he world has weathered the first day of 2017 without any particular disasters or celebrity deaths…only 364 more to go…

I have a sore throat. Ugh. At least I also have tomorrow off to recover (paid, even). Phone tweaking got put off, but we do still need to contact Junk-a-Car to get rid of the citrus.

You had a lemon?!

I woke up with a headache and a crick in my neck where I slept weird. In addition, I developed an itch on my neck and left wrist a couple of days ago. I’m wondering if it might have something to do with a new hair conditioner that I’m using (I keep a ponytail holder on my left wrist for times when I need it and actually sleep with same holder, so it’s a possibility).

I’m going to play in the studio, do the lunch prep that I usually do on Sunday afternoon and maybe watch some TV. Sloth, it rocks!
