A post-Christmas MMP

I never gave a car a name.
The children of a woman I dated did, though.

Rassilon works, if you’re a Whovian

I named my Grand Cherokee after Rory Williams from Doctor Who, since he’s old, plastic, and almost unkillable.

2017
everyone!

Thanks, Kopek; and a Happy New Year to everyone on SDMB.

I woke in the wee, dark hours to discover it was darker than usual. Our power was out. Naturally, the first thing I thought was: Putin, you bastard!!! But it came back on again. Near as I can figure from another clock, power was out for about an hour and 20 minutes or so.

After that, I drifted in and out of sleep till about 6, dreaming about brushing my teeth with a fork. Now I’m up, Higgs is fed, and the two digital clocks in the kitchen are reset. Our bedroom clock has a battery backup, so I’m pretty sure it’s OK, but I’ll verify it later, when **FCD **gets up.

Power outages concern me, only because we need power to have water. We do have a generator, but I don’t think we have any gas any more - the last of it went into the mower. We should probably get some, just in case.

Other than that, Happy New Year!!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 53 Amurrkin out and rainin’ (very light) with a predicted high of 72 and rain today, tonight, tomorrow and tomorrow night. We shall see. Actually I believe TWPTB will be right on this one. Today I shall deheathenate Luterun style, finish cookin’ NYD N.O.L., eat said N.O.L. and clean up afterwards. That should be enough for one day, right?

We went to bed around ten last night after movie viewage. I stopped after three gin ‘n tonics but the other three did not so I imagine OYKW, JDD, and Partner will sleep through a large part of the mornin’. Would it be mean of me to “accidentally” cause pots and pans to crash in the kitchen?

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then purtification for deheathenization must occur. Onward into the new year!

Happy Sunday Y’all! and…
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. I’m off today, so I shall be watching hockey and football all day. Especially since it’s raining.

Happy new year!

nettie, I once had an old school Dodge Dart that I named Mathilda because it was old folks green. When I replaced it, my ex made an art car out of it.

I left the gathering around 12:30 this morning and was in bed by 1:15. I cleaned the turnip greens this morning and they’re in a pot on the stove with some neckbones. The blackeyed peas are on warm in the llittle crock and will be nicely reheated for lunch, when I’ll fix a skillet of cornbread to go with. Other than that, I’m going to laze around for most of the day, maybe head out somewhere at some point to have a reason to get out of my jammies. :stuck_out_tongue:

Up and made a Mr Coffee full of tea. So if the universe ends it is my fault — as usual.

Howdy Y’all! Back from deheathenization. Mac ‘n cheese is made up and beastloaf is in the oven doin’ its thang. All is well at da cave. The revelers are all up and shevelled even.

Happy New Year!

Just back from breakfast, WalMart, and SING!! It’s a cute movie, tho there were far too many songs that I didn’t recognize. Now get off my lawn!!!

I’ve got laundry started. We put away the mulcher/vac. **FCD **is watching miscellany on TV - switching between the Cowboys game and other stuff. I’ll assume the crochet position soon. Much laziness shall ensue.

Happy Sunday!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It’s a N.O.S. 49 degrees outside.
Contrats on the new car Nettie
I can barely name a cat and you want help naming a car?!

Metal Mouse - I always drive Chevys, because my father worked at GM and I get a discount. Not much of a discount, but every little bit helps. I’ve had Fords twice, both used, and both had a lot of issues.

I’m so glad it’s finally trash day.
Two weeks worth of trash is too much to have around here.
I have lots to do today. I want to get it together so I can start irking lots of overtime for the next few weeks.
I need some good paychecks.

Happy New Year!

I did not have a calendar burning event, mostly because it turns out I don’t have a calendar. I did think about it really hard. We’ll call it a symbolic effort.

Sari how about “Spike” for cat? No reason in particular.

I need a new BBQ, so I may be doing some online shopping for that today. Also need to set up two fish tanks - we finally brought our fish up from California. They’ve been hiding in a smaller tank in the bathroom. The kids each have a larger tank for their rooms, so they each get a fish from “home”.

It’s 33-35, and sleeting/snowing. The kids are rooting for snow. They don’t have school tomorrow, so they want a LOT of snow, so they get snow days next week.

So Gordie started an electrical fire. When we came in from out last walk, he shook off some water, that went right into the grill on the back of the foot massager.

sari, my uncle works for GM, but I’ve never had a GM product.:dubious:

“Spike” is good.

Last load is in the dryer. I shall continue afghaning. It’s a good, lazy afternoon.

I used to pet sit a cat named Spike. I can’t remember the other cat’s name, but he was old (18 or 19) and very decrepit. However, he was also diabetic and it is amazing how fast an old, decrepit cat can move when they see you coming with a needle. Even when they see you coming without a needle. Actually, once I caught him the needle part was easy, the pill part was hard. Ingmar, I think it was Ingmar. After he died they got Clarisse.

I think I have settled on Adam. I like it better than Ivan and it converts easily to A Dam Cat.
Although he has been pretty good lately.

Doggio - won’t your uncle get you a discount? Or can he? I can’t remember who all qualifies. The discounts used to be pretty nice, like 12%. I think it’s down to 3% now.

How long have Dodge Darts been around? I think that is what my ex husband drove and that was a looooooooong time ago. Like 40 years ago. In fact, if we hadn’t gotten divorced we would have been married 40 years last year. I don’t feel like I’m old enough to have been married for 40 years.
Until I try to stand up, then my knees remind me that I am not 18 anymore.

I just heard the washer beep, so back to doing laundry.

We drank, we ate, we laughed, we talked and then they all went away. Thank Og! A good time was had by all. As I always say, I love company comin’ and goin’. Pots and pans have been washed and dishwasher is washin’ away. All is good.
