A post-Christmas MMP

Pleased to hear it! And to echo others’ thoughts, if you need to post, post away!

They don’t make/sell cinnamon rolls here in Oz. :frowning: Besides, mine are better! Hubs insists they’re better than anything else he’s tasted!

BigKitty, that’s the kind of vacation you can do without! Thanks but no thanks!

It’s just after 6AM. I’ve been up since 3:30 or so when Higgs started barking and fussing. I don’t know if **FCD **forgot to take her out before bed, but she immediately went out and squatted. Daughter and Cozmo joined the party. I tried to sleep on the recliner like the other day, but Taz kept coming and going, waking me up, and apparently I had just enough sleep that I wasn’t tired any longer. But still, we stayed there in a heap, with me being the only one who couldn’t sleep.

About 20 minutes ago, Cozmo started scratching at the door again and that led to another trip outside. We fed the dogs, daughter went back to sleep, and Higgs is busily licking… something… it’s dark in here and all I hear is the licking noises. I want to sleep, but I’m wide awake. Dammit.

I was also doing a mental gift post-mortem. I swear, it’s like I was thrust into a den of strangers. One sister gave **FCD **and me each an ornament. But this is the sister who I gave all my ornaments to about 8 years ago. The one I offered our tree to because she loves to decorate and we haven’t had a tree for 13 Christmases in a row. Every year, she gives us ornaments, and every year they end up at the local thrift store.

She also gave me a mug with my name on it, but to be fair, it wasn’t for me. She’d bought it for someone else with the same name, and that person moved away or something so I got the mug. Sis has no way of knowing that I recently purged a large number of my mugs because I had too many and they just collected dust.

The strangest thing was the teacup and saucer from my mother. I do drink tea, but from a mug, not a cup and saucer. And the one she chose is soooooo gaudy, I can’t believe she even gave it a second look. It had a few teabags with it, including one of fennel tea. Weird. So now, in addition to the 10 teacups and saucers I was trying to sell for my mom, I have this one that I’ll never use.

She did give us a very generous check, tho. **FCD **looked at it and said “I see Porsche parts!!” I don’t know what I’ll do with my half. I can’t think of anything I want beyond a pair of slippers, and even if I tried, I don’t think I could find slippers that cost that much. Well, maybe if they were Trump slippers. So I’ll hold it aside till I figure something out.

It was a very weird Christmas.

And on top of that, the necklace I got for my daughter is one she already had. But it was from Think Geek, and there’s a brick-and-mortar store in Orlando. She’s going to take it there and see if she can get a credit. Alas, I don’t have a receipt.

On the plus side, Daughter made up calendars with her photography for her grandmothers and for me. It’s really nice - for a n00b photographer, she does some nice work. Now I just need to find a place to hang it. It would be selfish of me to take it to work, wouldn’t it??

My bro got on The List - he gave my mom a big monitor. WE were going to give her a big monitor. We had already made a date to take her shopping for one, then out to lunch. My fallback gift to her is wine, but she was telling me she just bought several cases. Yeah, she’s a wino, but she got a really good deal… So, no monitor, no wine. If I knew her lawn guys, I’d buy her a month of yard maintenance. Ho ho ho.

It will be getting light soon. Dunno what I’ll be doing today, but I expect it’ll involve a lot of yawning.

Happy Moanday!

That’s good!

The sprog missed his flight, so we’re at BWI. Southwest was nice enough to get him standby on the next flight to San Antonio. That has one stop but no change of plane, so it’s better than the original plan of slogging through Atlanta, but it’s still standby, so no guarantees. Next year, any Christmas travel plans will be made in September, or he’s not going. This is stupid.

It’s fargin’ cold and misty, so I didn’t leave.

I’d go wishing good wishes, congratulating people and handing bandaids, but you’re a lot of people so just grab any as appropriate.

WHAT? No cinnamon rolls, every native animal is deadly poison, Australia sucks!

Today I shall do some shopping. Definitely grocery, maybe some clothes as well.

No sleepage occurred. But everyone is up. I’m showered, dressed, and have breakfasted on 'nanner bread that was in the freezer - it’s very yum.

After tidying the kitchen, I need to clean out the fridge. I fear there are a few science experiments brewing within, and I know at least one shelf is icky-stick. I also need to cut and sew a cat cave that will be part of the cat tower that’s to be built today. And somewhere along the line, I’ll dig out some yarn and start afghaning again. I need to use up the stash of yarn that’s cluttering the smaller guest room.

Always something…

Today is my Ursala kitteh’s gotcha day. A year ago I decided I needed a cat, went to the shelter, and came home with the mini-panther. I enjoy the heck out of her. She’s weaving around my feet and making Ursala chirping noises.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Closing shift tonight, and it’s my Firday. And the long nightmare that is Retail Christmas is over for another two or three months.

Happy Gotcha Day, Ursala!

Not a good year to be in music.
Up and dressed. Some rain and hitting 60 degrees  with more rain to follow tonight and a high of like 34 tomorrow. Welcome to sinus hell.

We were in Dollar General the other day - they had VALENTINE’S CANDY on display already!!! No, it won’t get stale in the next 2 months. Not at all…

Not that it matters. Dollar store chocolate isn’t exactly primo stuff.

The uncooked steak is still in the fridge & the General’s dinner (along with other things) wuz swiped around 8:30 last night. There were some miniature corn ears in it.

27 yo & she’s not even litter box trained? :dubious:

Uh-uh; it’s one of the four most amazing days of the year: Cheap Chocolate Day!!! (& also the rest of the Xmas stuff is 50% off, so the hoarders stock up on next year’s wrapping paper)
The sudden onset of crud that interrupted steak dinner & magically changed it to the General’s is possibly ruining today’s planned lunch (Carnegie Deli) in NYC. :frowning:

I’m not sure who’s 27 yo in this household - maybe daughter’s bf… :stuck_out_tongue:

My sewing machine is giving me fits. I can’t get the tension set correctly, and I don’t know why. I miss my industrial strength Viking, but a new one of those would have cost about 8X what I paid for the one I have. So I shall suffer. Stoopit machine.

Well, back to work.

Happy Gotcha day, Ursala!

Up and caffeinating and almost ready to hit the shower. I’m going to take a ride before the rain starts in and pick up some bamboo skewers on the way home.

My niece is redecorating (she’s going through a divorce and actually doing things her way  ) and when I asked what she’d like as a [del]good riddence the asshole is gone[/del] decorating item, she told me a couple of ojo de Dios in earthy fiber. That I can do with my fiber stash, but need the bones for them. She’s also going to sew some simple pocket drapes for me as soon as I measure the windows and get the fabric. If I can get some fairly decent fabric for <$120 (which is what I priced drapes at), I’ll take her up on the offer. Her brother told me that he’d even hang them for me when he came to set the DVR up right (something I didn’t do when I moved and have had to watch movies on the desktop) and install the roku stick.

Da niece also promised to take the china home when she came down for some art therapy with AuntRed next weekend. Yay! I can order the rollaway bed once that space is cleared out in the laundry room. I figure that I’ll upgrade my studio chair and skip a love seat/recliner that wouldn’t really fit in the studio, along with the rollaway (for overnight guests) and that will be the extent of my furniture buying for a couple of years.

Dollar Tree and the local grocery store were also putting their valentine’s candy out.

Got my groceries, got my next year’s calendar, did not get Tiny Tabby a new collar. I saw one I liked, but I need to measure her neck to see if she still needs kitten collars or if she can wear adult sizes.

Speaking of tiny, Seasonal’s grandpa gave Irish Storyteller a tiny drone for Christmas. He’s been having endless fun flying it around the living room driving the cats crazy.

Happy Moonday!

It’s a cloudy 41 degrees outside. Supposed to go up to 57 tomorrow!

I’m having a rough day today.

Yesterday I tripped and fell, hard, on the way to take a shower. My knee was twisted under me and hurt like hell. Sah-son came running to make sure I was okay and to help me up. I almost stayed home, but I went anyway and limped my way through the day.
It wasn’t horrible.
Then I went to my friend’s house and ate a little and talked a lot.
I didn’t get home until after 11.

Today my knee is swollen and stiff. My shoulder hurts. I woke up with a cramp in my left leg early this morning, and then with a cramp in my right leg after I went back to bed. To make matters worse, something I ate yesterday is not agreeing with my stomach today.

Today is a normal work day, I hope my belly is better by the time I have to log in.

The sprog got a seat on the next plane and is now in San Antonio. I got my hairs cut, a camouflage Terrible Towel for Airman and a USC shirt for me, and a Pusheen calendar. I’m eating lunch and I think a nap is a good idea.

Daughter and her bf have been building the cat tree. I just finished the first phase of sewing for said tree. Shortly, I will make a cushion for the cat cave.

We went to Olive Garden for lunch, silly me thinking everyone would have soup and salad. Nope. We ended up shelling out over $80 before it was done - daughter and bf ordered an appetizer and fairly expensive meals. Oh well, such is life.

Well, time to make a cushion.

Good morning all.

Boxing Day shopping yielded a new dress at 60% off, and some new shorts for the kids. I also bought fresh Sicilian cannolis for afternoon tea, and they was gooooooooood (well, I only had one, but omnomnomnomnomnomnoooommmmmmmm).

HRH is on my sh*tlist today - no electronics and no swimming, after she and her friend lied to me yesterday and told me her friend’s dad was coming (they live next door) to supervise them swimming in the pool. The girls went swimming without any adult supervision, so they are both in deep doo-doo.

Today is chemo day - only today and next week left in this round, and these are short days (about 2 hours, only pre-meds and Paclitaxel). The kids will go to Grandma and Grandad’s house, where HRH will have to suffer the indignity of NOT swimming, and having to see Grandad’s “disappointed” face, when he hears about her bad decision yesterday. It’s tough being 9 years old and learning about consequences.

I’ve got a bright pink splotchy rash all over my body and it’s itchy! It’s an allergic reaction to the medication I was taking for bronchitis. So now I know I’m allergic to penicillin.

Nothing compared to what my dad’s going through, who’s still in the hospital.

Visit is over, it was nice, other family was there. Thanks for the welcome back, and the George Michael news was shocking.
