A question for those who have seen the long-running TV program, “Family Feud”.
In the jackpot portion at the end of each Family Feud episode:
Has it ever happened that the first family member's answers totaled 200, so that the second family member didn’t have to answer any questions for the family to have to won the jackpot?Yes! I forgot which host- I think It was Richard Dawson. It was really funny- he made up the craziest questions for the second player. Completely unanswerable.
Yes, it has. This particular example is from the Richard Dawson era, but I’m pretty sure I’ve seen it in the Combs era, and possibly the Harvey era, as well (I’ve not seen much of the Anderson, Karn, or O’Hurley eras). I’d also be surprised if it hadn’t happened in one of the foreign versions, too. [Edit - Obviously not the same case ITD is talking about, since they didn’t bother bringing out the second contestant, in this case, so it’s definitely happened more than once.]
Good Lord, watching that back really makes Richard Dawson look like a creep! Between the lips kissing and him being all over her I just got the skeeves that whole clip.
I know it was the time but still…jeez…
I saw it a couple times in the Combs era. The questions he gave the second person were awesome.
I also have a vague memory of Daisy Duke reaching 200 during one of those Stars vs Stars episodes in the 80s. Anyone else remember that?

It wasn’t exactly common but happened often enough that I saw it happen many times when I would watch FF home sick form school and years later here and there in reruns on the Game Show Network.
Side note: the current FF is garbage. The producers seem to have said to themselves that people love YouTube Clips of people saying dirty and/or stupid things on Family Feud so lets just do that all the time.

I don’t watch the show much anymore, but it seems that they’ve made it significantly more difficult (if not impossible) for this to happen. Many of the top answers will only be worth 30 points or so. Even if you give every single top answer, you may end up with only 170 points.

I’ve noticed some of this also.
They survey 100 people with the question and the “points” are the number of people who gave that answer.
They used to have questions where almost half of the respondents gave the same answer, “Name a way kids get to school”. 48 people say bus.
Now they have those “on a scale of 1 to 10” type questions where even if you get the #1 answer only 25 of the respondents agreed.
The only time I saw anyone do that was in the Combs area (the first two were, “There were three Stooges; name Curly’s wife,” and, “A number between three and five.”) The one time I saw Dawson not just bring out the second contestant to join in the celebration, he put up some really low score, then asked the same questions, but when the contestant repeated an answer (and the buzzer didn’t sound) and Dawson asked for another answer, the contestant said, “What?,” and Dawson stopped the gag there and showed him the real score.
I believe it was Dawson, possibly Combs (and none of those after) who called the feat a “hole in one” during an episode.
