Too late, zellie. Least said, soonest mended and all that.
(where is BooFae, btw?)
You do NOT want to know who Benny Hill was. I wasn’t sure if he was dead.
He’s a fat old fart who liked to paw women and ogle them all the while he would tell fart level jokes on TV. He would have scantily dressed women on his show acting stupid–ho, ho! A regular laugh riot.* PBS ran his series for awhile. He’s British–and I like to remind Brits of him whenever they try to pull the “we’re more cultured than you lot” bit on us.
He is (was) a jerk, a wanker and supremely unfunny. And he had his own show!
Yeah but we only let him make TV programmes so we could mock all those excessively Anglophile Americans who will lap up whatever rubbish we say is cool.
Children, children! Og didn’t put that ocean between us for no reason – no fighting over the chips and tea, now! (But you Brits can have Benny Hill. Eww.) Sheesh. Kids these days.
We used to hand-crank ice cream when we visited my aunt and uncle in Indiana. Definitely not a southern thing with them. Mmmm…homemade ice cream…I need to get me one of those electric ice cream freezers because the homemade variety is about ten million times better than the boughten, and I say that having just eaten a bowl of Turkey Hill! Yeah, it’s THAT good.
I have had a moderately productive day. As in I got what I needed to done, but not much more. Oh, I’m nearly finished knitting the bamboo scarf; I’ll try to remember to post a photo because it’s exceptionally pretty, if I do say so myself. And this pattern is open enough that it doesn’t take nearly as much yarn as I thought it might, so I’ve got enough yarn left to knit a shawl using a variation of the same pattern. It’ll be a pretty dress-up shawl for someone, for sure.
I’m so glad I don’t have to deal with annoying cow-orkers any more. At least in person; they still drive me crazy by email or, actually, by not responding to email. They have gotten better about it, though; I’ve bitched loud and long for several years, and it’s finally getting through to them that, duh-hey, if they want their work done, they have to stay in touch with the people who actually do it. Cow-orkers. Hrmph.
Time to finish up a bit more work and/or knitting and get some beauty sleep. I am SO looking forward to sleeping in this lovely cool air again! Not that it will last for much longer, but I’m sure going to enjoy it while we’ve got it.
Hi all. I know I said I was going to keep up this week, but we have been back in hospital for a couple of days with Noor - suspected infantile spasms. The MRI they did shows a marked reduction in the size of the initial haematoma and they suspect that what I interpreted as possibe spasms may just be “normal” developmental activity. We are back home now (Thank Og), but Noor will need to have an EEG done in a couple of weeks just to check there is no suspect brain activity.
I will catch up on reading the MMP over the course of today/tomorrow, but for now I’m off to do all the household chores that have been on hold since Tuesday morning …
yeah, but at least the women in their films weren’t bimbos (on fact, some of them were conniving bitches who tried to take advantage of the boys)
but I was never a Stooges fan - Give me the Max Brothers any day - I’ll even take the Ritz brothers over the Stooges
I made it thru night #4 - we were actually pretty busy. Plus my compatriot and I got all snarky about the woman who occupies our cube on days - alas, I’ll have to work with her next week as this training evolution wraps up. With luck, it’ll be a 3-day week…
I’m really tired today, but it’s still cool and overcast, so it should make for good sleeping. My yawn muscles are overly strained, so I’m going to take them and the rest of me back to the dim, cool chamber and crawl between the sheets. I hope I can rid my mind of the story I was listening to on NPR as I drove home - all about bedbug infestations. ick!
Nah, I think I’m tired enough to crash pretty completely. Back in a few hours…
The only time I’ve ever slept at work was when I was in the Navy, and we were underway or during duty days. It’s really hard not to sleep when you’re at work for six months.
I visited a friend who went to Purdue, when I was up at school in North Chicago (Great Lakes Naval Base) back in 1983. She was a freshman at the school, and wasn’t as excited to see me as I thought she would be.
Bodtty, prayers and good thoughts that everything will be fine headed right out.
Yawn. Woke up to the sound of circular saws, and tried to will them away telepathically. It didn’t work. They’re still doing construction at the apartment across from mine. It looks like several more days work. They’re taken it down to concrete.
Actually, the first I woke up I was under the blankets, in my comfy 20C apartment, shivering violently. Shaking. I was aware that I was war enough, and I still pulled another quilt over me and shook for about fifteen minutes. It was weird.
Tea. And then chores to the accompaniment of the Shouting Contractors outside.
