A replacement for Goldeneye on the Gamecube?

Not asking if any sequels are planned. I was considering a Gamecube as they’ve dropped in price so much and I need to know about some multiplayer games for it.
We played N64 Mario Kart and Goldeneye a lot in our house and I need replacements for them as the N64 will most likely be consigned to the attic back home or EBay. Mario Kart on the GC is rumoured to be entertaining enough on multiplayer but how do I replace Goldeneye? Any good multiplayer shoot-em-ups? Or any other good multiplayer games at all?

I like Super Smash Brothers and Mario Kart: Double Dash!! as well as the party games that come with Super Monkey Ball, but as far as a shooters for the GC, 007: NightFire looks like it’s your only choice for now. This site shows a Splinter Cell, a Rainbow Six, and a 007 title coming out in the near future, so save your money.

I just bought my GameCube with my Christmas money, and greatly enjoy it, especially the Zelda promo disk they were giving away with them, although those are pretty tough to find. I got mine with the Super Smash Bros. bundle, but the girl at Target had some of the Zelda promo disks laying around so she threw one in for FREE.

Even though it’s not multi-player, Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker is possibly the best game I’ve played since Diablo II, and is on my all-time Top Five list. I can’t recommend that game enough. The replayability is slim, but playing it through will take you a week, even if you’re an amazingly skillful obsessive completionist plagued with insomnia and an eidetic memory. It’s broad and deep. I love it.

Unfortunately (or not, depending on your views) Rare was bought by Microsoft, so any sequel to Perfect Dark will most likely be an Xbox exclusive. Fortunately, some Rare progammers fled before then and founded Free Radical, which made the Timesplitters series. The first is for PS2 only, but the sequel Timesplitters 2 has been out for some time on all 3 major consoles and is both very fun and very inexpensive.

Wacky characters ranging from walking squid to Elvis impersonators to flying snowmen to robot wanna-bes. A variety of levels. Monkeys with rocket launchers. A very suspicious-looking Russian dam in the mid-1990s. CPU multiplayer bots so you can go it alone.

The only drawback if you’re looking for complete excitement is that most of the multiplayer stuff (characters, levels, game modes) has to be unlocked by completing the single-player challenges. They’re good fun though.

BraheSilver, I gotta know: did you take the Brahe part of your nick from the astronomer, or from the guy at Penny Arcade, who presumably took it from the astronomer? Are you, in fact, Tycho?

If you want a game like Goldeneye, Time Splitters 2 is the way to go.

No. I am not him. I only ever heard about PA from “hey, are you-” questions back when I played Tribes 2. I’ve changed my nom de cyberguerre but keep it on the SDMB since it’s wacky and obscure and I’ve grown attached to it for reasons I don’t feel like disclosing.
