A return to Mundanity

Well, since the SDMB has turned into a veritable daytime soap opera the past few weeks, it sure seems like a pretty good time to cool off for a while, ease back, and just share the randomness of everyday life. Feel free to throw in a joke, good stories, mundane stuff from your life, or anything that you think might be smiled on favorably by the SDMB masses (all of whom are controlled by Diane)

My MPSIMS
I am now hooked on rollerblading, and am surprisingly agile at it. Except when I hit a patch of sidewalk that is mossy, yet doesn’t look mossy. My groin will never be the same.

Also, I am eating a great lunch wrap that my wife made. Sometime, hopefully soon, she will be putting up a web page for recipes and I will heartily recommend it to anybody that eats.

So, anybody else?

Wow, that voting thing sure was fun. Not at all controversial or overly dramatized.

Uhhh, let’s see…

Learning to play the guitar. Problem is, the index finger on my left hand is just short enough that the joint at the knuckle covers the first string. Some chords require all strings be covered, and this creates a problem.
Also starting a screenplay, and I’ve got a veritable shitpot-full of miniatures to paint. I’ve also got close to probably 2/3 or my collection of Magic:the Gathering cards finished. Goddam hobbies.

Dammit, Mullinator! Quit trying to ruin all of the great chaos, pathos, and other things that end in ‘-os’ that have been going on lately. It makes for great reading.

I wasted my 100th post on this? Let’s see, what else can I say …

It’s snowing where I live. Again. T-minus 11 days and counting before my 9-day vacation to sunny, warm Phoenix, AZ. A-woo-hoo!

“In much wisdom is much grief; and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.” - Ecclesiastes 1:18

Good Idea, Mull. I’m looking forward to the recipe website. With all the SDMBr’s out here it could really become huge.

Mundane stuff:
I woke up in the middle of the night with rain gurgling in the gutters, and two contented cats parked in the windowsills. It was one of the most peaceful moments I’ve had in a while; it’s just too bad I couldn’t have stayed awake longer to enjoy it.
When I got up, it had changed to snow, and made my drive into work interesting. It was fun though, because I’ve driven my car for 18 years now, and it’s reached the point where I put it on rather than enter it. I know all its manners, and it gives ample warning before breking loose on the slipery stuff.
It’s refreshing to do this as a break from the other stuff! thanks!

Tempus is fugiting all over the place! Carpe that diem!

“Finished” how? As in counted and categorized?

Wanna buy some more? (I gotta get over to Chris…)

Jeez, I can’t believe the typos in my foregoing!

Hell, yes. All sets by color, three sets to a binder, appropriate color lands in spaces where I need a card.

One black card needed for Ice Age, and then I’m complete from there up to Mercadian Masques. Trying to quit, so I’m keeping myself from buying that set.

I’m sorry, I can’t post here until I finish Diane’s foot massage, so I just be lurking this thread. Carry on.

“Many count their chickens before they are hatched; and where they expect bacon, meet with broken bones.”
–Miguel de Cervantes–

Mercadian Masques? Jeez, I have been out of it for a while!

What card do you need? I might still have it.

BTW, what’s your schedule look like for lunch this week?

Man, we’re gonna freak some people out. I need Flow of Maggots. Everything else I need is before Ice Age; Legends, Antiquities, Arabian Nights, etc.

Absolute crap. Let’s try for next week.

My boss bribes us to take calls by giving us black tar heroin (tootsie rolls) and crack (hard candy). Bad for the teeth, great for morale.

I wrote a short story that, to my surprise, turned out to be horror. In fact, it was so much horror, that my friends who’ve read it ask me if I’m okay.

Whaddaya know? According to my list, I’ve got 3 of 'em! (As far as I know, my list is up to date.) I had 'em priced at a buck a piece, but have no clue what the current value is.

Lunch next week? Sounds good. Except (obviously) Friday.

“Flow of Maggots” would be a great name for a punk band.

I am addicted to Yahoo Cribbage.

I was almost going to ask, and then I remembered just how much I love working for the State.

What’s next Friday?

Mundanity. Ah. That’s what I needed after almost having my heart explode through my ribcage earlier today.

Here’s some: I’m waiting for three new crochet hooks to come in. One of them has got to be the right guage for an afghan I want to make. I’m about a third of the way through the one I swore I’d make for “us” before giving another one away. It’s going to be nice. I look forward to working on it tonight after grocery shopping, cooking and having some life-affirming sex.

Thank goodness for MPSIMS. That’s “IMPsims”, y’all.

You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be misquoted, then used against you.

Why, Cant, sweetie, you mean to tell me you’ve forgotten Abraham Lincoln’s birthday? Sixteenth President of Illinois and these other, lesser United States?

Yes, that’s right folks, David B and I will be lazing about next Friday, blissfully away from our tax-subsidized jobs. And just to rub it in, we’ve also got the 21st off, seeing as it’s Washington’s birthday. And we get Election Day off, too. Nyah.

But if it’s any consolation, I’m not getting paid for it. Damn contractual position…

Aha! See, we government employees get Lincoln’s B-Day and Washington’s B-Day combined on one day called President’s Day, which is on February 21 this year.

And I get paid, too. Nanny nanny boo boo!

What?! You’re one of those…those… those contractual people?! Jeez, man, why didn’t you say something earlier? I can’t be seen eating lunch with you! Gack!

My study of Chinese is progressing well. For instance, I can now say “How many pennies to buy your mother?” and imply that it will be fewer than 10, and “The food at dining service is incredibly bad.”

BTW Chinese New Year is this Saturday, and it is the start of the Year of the Dragon. I was born in the year of the boar. When my sister was in Vegas she bought me a necklace with the character for boar on it. I think it’s really, really cool. It’s sitting on my bookcase. I never wear it because I don’t think I’m cool enough to carry off jewelry.

Since we’re sharing: My fiance and I got married on Friday! Just a civil ceremony with the BIG wedding coming up in September!

(no, I’m not pregnant)
