A Routine MMP

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s my Firday. It’s currently 41 degrees Ferret Height(5.0 Centipedes) outside.
Happy St. Crispin’s Day!. Go out and put a French host to the sword!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN. ‘Tis 51 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 79 and cloudy. As already mentioned, today will be another day of high RDOS inactivities. My DAWGS are off today but I can watch other kolledge tackleball. Royal we also have our British monarchy show to watch. Sup is leftovers so that will be easy.

JtC here’s hopin’ for out patient surgery.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

The tooth gods have it out for me. While eating some popcorn that I made in the new microwave, I happened to stumble upon a partially popped piece and managed to crack another tooth. While the last one was just a piece of a filling that got knocked off, this one is a bit more tender. Stoopid teeth!

Last night was interesting. MusicMan has been going out to do karaoke for awhile and since I never sleep, I’ve been staying home. Well, yesterday I felt motivated and awake enough to go along. As always, MusicMan has a beautiful singing voice. You’ll soon be able to discover that once I finally get the videos that I took edited and uploaded on FB. However, let me tell you how much I am an introvert and especially an introvert who does not like going to bars. Ugh.

One question, though, to anyone who partakes of karaoke. Is it considered appropriate to sing from afar along with the person who is singing their song? Not a big, flashy song like Sweet Caroline, but just an everyday song?

Ok, I’m back to work on the iEPs which do have a great number of difficult things to make it too difficult to store the responses on a separate page. I’ve already been working on them for about an hour. Hopefully after about 2-3 more hours work I should be done with the remaining two.

Oh, and FCM, where your safety and health could possibly be an issue, I would say that it would be a logical consideration to return Otis. You need to take care of you first. /end sermon.

Starting today with 36 Ferrets - that’s a sign from the Weather Gods to stay inside, right? Well, at least till it gets closer to 50 Ferrets.

Sticky - sorry about your tooth issues. I’ve observed over the years that teeth are weird things and I’m sure it’s tied largely to genetics, tho I suppose regular brushing as well as one’s choice of dentist could play their part, too.

I went for many years - largely my time in the Navy - without seeing a dentist. When I finally did, I had 2 small cavities and that was it. Since then, I’ve been pretty diligent about going twice a year, and that’s where I found the dentist can be an issue, too. I had one who seemed bound and determined to have me get sealants and deep cleanings and all that stuff. So I quit him and found another who never mentioned anything extra beyond asking if I wanted some whitening treatment. I’m leery of having unnecessary procedures pushed on me. Which has nothing to do with your issues, but apparently I had to get that out of my system.

The main item on today’s agenda is taking Otis to training at 2. I’m hoping Trish can help us with the jumping and nipping. We may have to schedule a home visit, since he behaves himself elsewhere. We shall see…

Afterwards, we’ll be taking the mast off the boat. For some reason I don’t understand, trawlers have provisions to use a small sail, tho I’ve never seen one raised. Anyway, we’re having the teak trim sanded and redone, but because of the temperature, it’ll be done in the big paint shed. The mast makes the boat too tall to fit in, hence its removal. Plus it needs to be repainted also. So after doggy training, it’s going to come down (I hope.)

Not much else beyond that. I should probably < gasp > dust and rollsuck. And the dishwasher needs to be emptied. So I guess I can keep myself occupied for a bit. It’s an adventure just waiting to be, um, adventured.

Happy Saturday!!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 9c/49f with a predicted high of 10c/50f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Are you tired of talking about the fucking weather? I’d be more than happy to tell you about my fucking divorce.” Actually, no, I would not. It was a bitter, messy and painful experience that I’d rather not dwell on.

It hasn’t happened yet, sadly my team manager was off sick Thursday and Friday, and her manager doesn’t work on Fridays. I’m hoping the TM is back next week as I have to swap some days around so I am on campus on Tuesday and we should be able to catch up in person then.

That’s excellent news, I am sure she’ll be much happier being in her own bed in familiar surroundings.

My nearest is 13 miles away, I believe I can get a discounted membership through work but have never bothered. Petrol is (today) 4p per litre cheaper than my usual petrol station but since I do mostly local short-distance driving now, it’s not worth the effort of going to Birmingham just for petrol.

I hope the trees do not disappoint, and the cantina keeps you as edgy as you want to be!

In all the karaoke places I’ve ever been, audience participation is encouraged, so no reason not to. I saw the FB posting, MusicMan does indeed have a lovely voice.

Yesterday was fun, I had a nice quiet day at work as there were only two of us in the office. We had a bonus delivery of cake in the afternoon as someone had ordered catering for a meeting and they’ve got leftovers so that was a nice end to the day. The commute home was not too bad, and we were soon on our way out again to see Y&T at our favourite local venue. Afterwards, we took a wander to the Giffard and had a couple of drinks in there. I wasn’t feeling all that great (have a cold coming) so we left earlier than we’d usually do, and I was in bed by 1am.

Had a late start this morning, I’m all snotty and croaky with a raging sore throat so the extra rest was necessary. I have to go out this afternoon to do some errands, we have a friend coming over later and we’re off to see another band tonight in a different venue. It’s about a half-hour drive from home so I will drive us there and back, we’ll be home by midnight from that one, and I will be in bed soon after!

It amazes me that people will drive out of their way to save a few cents per gallon - especially since it likely costs more in the fuel they burn than the bit they save. But, no - “It’s 5¢ cheaper at [other station]!!” Yeah, and for 15 gallons, that saves you 75¢ - is your time worth so little? Not to mention the gas you used to go out of your way to save the 75¢…

Dishwasher is empty. Time to shower, dress, and tend to some chores, I guess.

Mornin’ all.

It’s 43°F and cloudy. Rain should be starting up anytime now. We’ll have more or less steady rain this morning that’ll be pretty heavy at times. This afternoon brings showers and clouds, with a daytime high of 56°F. It was pretty darn soggy yesterday, although the wind gusts they were talking about never really materialized in my area.

My friend canceled going foraging, as I suspected she would. I can’t blame her. We’ll try again next weekend.

Sticky Buns, I’m sorry about your tooth.

JtC, I hope you only require outpatient surgery.

Since it’s going to be pretty soggy this morning, I’ll probably just hang out and do some indoor chores. I was thinking of finding a new restaurant for us and going to dinner tonight, but I haven’t settled on it yet.

I might download a book today since I’m sick of television, too. I used to read more and I need to get back into that.

It’s time for more coffee. Take care of yourselves.

I’m showered and dressed. Dustage (for certain values of dustage) is done - I didn’t take all the books off the shelves. Rollsuck is done. It’s time to chill a bit.

PS - SS is getting a 2.8% COLA for next year.

Read the room. Some places, it’s not only standard, but expected. Others, it will get you funny looks. Sorry about your dental woes.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP.

It stormed last night. I took Nelson out and walked him to the mailbox before it began raining again. It’s stopped for now, but is supposed to do this all weekend. Fortunately, I live in a neighborhood not prone to flooding. Hope I didn’t jinx that. :stuck_out_tongue:

The big things on the list today are waiting for Brown (snerk) to come pick up my poop in the box and washing a load of towels. Such excitement!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Am going to church event. I can walk there in 7 minutes. The youth are having a fun harvest event. Pizza, board games, costumes.

Cornhuskers kick off at 11am against Northwestern at home. We would appreciate your good thoughts from afar. Go :american_football: Big :ear_of_corn: Red :balloon:!!.

Fewer than 200 posts in a week makes this the least-chatty MMP in my recent memory! :joy: I’ve read – or, at least skimmed – all, but again don’t have the energy for replies/interaction.

It was another long, busy, tiring week at work, and the fun started first thing Monday morning when a new hire showed up two days early (a subcontractor; his company screwed up). It was nonstop from there, including an in-person interview at 8am yesterday that meant I had to go to the office every day this week. Happily, yesterday’s candidate was good; I’ll be making an offer. Also happily, the afternoon was quiet enough that I was able to leave shortly after 1pm and take the rest of the day off – and, I’d already worked 40 hours. I got home before 2pm, and was able to chill for a while before heading to tattoo removal appointment #16 (at 4pm).

Today would have been Bailey’s 17th adoptiversary. She’s been gone for 6 weeks: I still cry about something doggy-related most days, but I think the sharpness of my grief is finally starting to dull. Late October is already a tough time of year for me because of the “lasts” before my mom’s death – last visit/conversation, last email, etc. – and now I can add this date to the mix. *sigh*

In happier news, I was able to give dog bed #3, the raised feeder, and all of her bowls to a co-worker who recently got a puppy: my payment was pictures of 4-month-old Finnegan using the bed. He’s still too small for the raised feeder, but won’t be for long (I don’t know his breed, just that he’s expected to be a medium-sized dog). All I have left are Bailey’s main dog bed, harness, and leashes; none of which I’m ready to get rid of yet. Everything I wanted to give away is now out of the house.

Life has been super stressful (both good and bad stress) for the last 8 months, and I’m at a point where I definitely need a break. This week I started thinking and planning, including deciding whether I want to visit family or try my first dog-less staycation: I chose the former, and in early November I’ll be going to NJ (top of the turnpike) for just over a week. The trip will cover two weekends. I’ll drive up on a Friday night and spend the first weekend/few days seeing the cousins on my mom’s side, and around mid-week I’ll drive an hour south to my mom’s hometown and spend time with her recently-widowed best friend (my “aunt”; I went to her husband’s funeral in August). I might work remotely a day or two, and also might be able to visit some family on my dad’s side while I’m in that area. Travel can bring its own stress, and nine hotel nights will not be cheap (partly because I prefer and can afford to stay in small suites), but it should be a good trip and I’m looking forward to it. It’ll be really nice to be up there just to visit everyone, and not because of a funeral.

Time for lunch, and maybe some Lego. Recent stress is driving me to put together my new holiday sets much earlier than I’d planned, but so far they’re small and I’m able to store them all in the third bedroom. All that’s left now are three bigger sets, but my need for Lego therapy might outweigh the fact that I’ll be assembling large Christmas sets before it’s even Halloween.

Oh! I do have some good news: WifeBFF was released from dialysis, and got her port/tubes removed yesterday! :tada: Her kidneys have recovered from the damage done by the old high-dose antibiotic, plus her heel wound is looking good and she can stop taking the new antibiotic. She’s finally starting to feel better, and the plan is for me to go to her place for dinner tonight. Her oldest friend will be there, too: she’s been staying with them for almost two weeks, but will be going back to FL soon. I haven’t seen her in a long time, so that’ll be good.

They had enough Blueberry loaders I was just on the 100 and 200 Slides. It wasn’t exceptionally busy, except somebody sent a bunch of Home Despot 48" LED tube lights through the belt system instead of by irregs, like a sane person with a more than room temp IQ might do. And there was 1(one) broken one in each pack. So I ended up reboxing 9, and shitcanning the 10 broken ones. Also, I had a Amazon return with a wrecked label, so I sent it through overgoods to Amazon. When I opened it, it was packed with household trash instead of bubble wrap or paper. This is the type of person the white trash looks down on. But I stopped at the ABC store for some more rye for tonigh’s. Vieux Carré. The brunch bacon, eggs, toast and G&T(brunch without alcohol is just a sad, late breakfast), laundry is in the dryer, so a quick nap before kollege handegg, hockey, and F1.

Indeed.

Go for it.

Just the thing to cover this year’s 3% inflation.

Didn’t Stephan King write a story about that? :open_mouth:

Planning on this one?

Yay!

Well, the heart doc took blood pressure and asked questions. Recommended that she start taking statins and lose weight. He also wants her to get ultrasounds of her heart and neck. I don’t think she’s going to follow through on that as she’s heartily sick of doctors and hospitals. Checked on the scrip for the statin this morning, only to find out that that particular pharmacy branch is closed until further notice. Now what?

A quiet day today and a niece visit tomorrow. We’ll likely take her out for brunch.

Was sunny but a bit windy and decidedly chilly here today- about 9C max, according to the weather people (about 48 Ferrets for those who prefer). First day it’s been properly feeling cold, IMO.

I’m very glad I managed to get the living room all finished and the new woodburner installed before winter properly hit; the last few years have felt a bit like a Dickensian novel, with me living in an unfinished hovel, ain’t nothing like living in chaos to make you appreciate a bit of paint and lighting that works as wanted. I do really need to get the disaster area of the kitchen and the corridor/stairs done as well though. Shame I have basically no free time.

I did a little gardening as well, in the polytunnel I put up this year, which again I am thoroughly appreciating in the wind. Cleared out the tomatoes and sowed some broad (fava) beans and peas that should cope with overwintering. I have rather a lot of green tomatoes left, despite the unusually warm summer, as everything went in much later than planned, so didn’t really get going until too late. I’m thinking a green tomato chutney may be on the cards for the next few days, if anyone has any good recipes. I’ll need to get some more stuff done in the garden tomorrow as well; the clocks go back in the early hours, so sunset will be before 5pm from now until spring.

In Nuts’ Speshul Free Storage news, the neighbour has not returned today. I suspect she’ll be back either late tomorrow or after irk on Monday. At least this is only 2 small parcels which only need to get taken to the house I share a wall with, not 9 huge bags which I have to store for over a year and repack and wrap and post…

Refilled a ( gasp! ) empty kibble bowl, gathered my semi-uneaten lunch from yesterday - try again today - and pick up Sprinkles on my way back in.

Oh! Last night a guy at the window had the cutest stuffed animal on his dashboard. I was gushing over it, even dragged one of my co-workers over to see it … and when I came back with his order, he GAVE IT TO ME.

I thought it was a black cat, but it’s actually a demon/dragon. Which is still perfectly appropriate.

I’ll try to get better pics later, but I’m in a hurry to yank on clean(ish) pants and get rolling.

Imgur

He is cute. That vas very nice of customer.

Turns out the “silent night “ line of goth Christmas at Michaels is very popular. So many empty spots. I have decided to call the reindeer guy “Orpheus Cole “. He works well hiding the tv wires. His head pokes just into the corner of the tv. I’m finding it fun and not annoying.

No wildlife on this shopping trip. I finally remembered to get new pillows, so full bed switch today. Snapple was 3 for 7 dollars at target. Ben and Jerry’s on sale, that was exciting.

Glad the blue jays won. Go Canada!

Back from training. Idiot dog who walks so well on the street with me was a total brat to me as we tried to practice in the store. Then Trish took him and he was an angel. Furry a-hole!

We’re going out for Chinese tonight just because. Kids will be staying with me tomorrow since their other grandmother needs to de-stress. So pot roast for supper.

And another day winds down.

I’ve read all as the week’s gone on, but have made rather few comments. From just today:

@Misnomer: congrats on the impending NJ trip, and the major recovery of WifeBFF. Both will destress your world.

The good news is Trish got to watch him misbehave. Helps her to understand what you’re really dealing with. And with luck provide advice that works.

Quick update on my world …

Up through Friday afternoon my week was mostly pleasant RDOS with one routine doctor appt that took a whopping 30 minutes. Then early Fri afternoon GF called. “Wanna do Friday night dinner & low-rent rendezvous? Silly question, of course I do!” So we met in the middle, had very nice yaks, foods, & drinks, then off for our low-rent rendezvous. Which was also nice.

This morning after hotel breakfast she went home then was going to meet her son for dinner & overnight tonight at his place. So his snit is over, but I’ll be very interested to hear how the whole meeting w him goes, where his head is, and where it’s going. It’s a darn shame she really botched the unplanned reveal a month ago when we were in CA. Oh well. She certainly understands what her message is this time.

Next weekend in my USAF reunion trip to Myrtle Beach. Which GF was intending to attend w me. That’s all derailed right now; a bunch of divorce-related crap in her life has exploded on short timelines and it’s for sure she can’t spare the 7 days we’d planned together. Various rejiggers to shorten the trip for her are possible, but difficult. I rather suspect I’m going solo. Sigh. She’d probably have found the reunion itself rather boring, but I will miss our planned togetherness which was 4-1/2 of the planned 7 days. The reunion itself is Fri night - Mon morning, so more like 2-1/2 total days.

OTOH, anything that speeds the divorce closer to done also speeds the end of her monster stress and huge todo list. So yaay for that.

That’s the week’s story at CasaLSL. About to seek dinner & then watch the World Series game 2 starting at 8:00 ET.

Cheers all!

Howdy Y’all! RDOS inactivities as usual here. Watchin’ some kolledge tackleball off and on, watchin’ some of our royal programs, nappage and day drinkin’ have filled the day. We had an early sup. Think we will find sump’n stoopid and/or trashy on Netflix to watch just cause. Plus there’s ice cream to be et!

BBBOO I followed the game off and on. Hooray for the Huskers win! It was an excitatin’ game.

Oopsie how nice that another doggo can use some of Bailey’s stuff. Glad the pics made you happy. Seems like the trip will be a good thing as well. Yay for BFF! She needs some good news health wise.

doggio even white trash needs trash to look down on. I refer to that type as trash that will not burn.

Sticky_Buns sorry about the tooth woes. As to karaoke, I say if the spirit moves you to sing along then belt it out.

Cookie sorry for wife’s continued health woes.
