A Routine MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 59 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 79 and sunny. We shall procure provisions this mornin’. Not much is needed so it will be a quick trip. RDOS inactivities will take up the rest of the day until it’s time to head over to the Wednesday doin’s over to the church house.

Nellie sorry you are havin’ so many physical woes. That is a lovely and bittersweet postscript to the story of your student. Bitey dawg woman appears to live in an alternate reality.

Sticky_Buns hope you can get the sleep issues figured out soonest. Yay on the weight loss!

BooFae here’s hopin’ HR can do sump’n about drama minion. I trust there is documentation of all the behaviors that disrupt the department.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose, bother of bothers, I should purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Ugh, I slept for a coupla hours, woke for an early bio-break, and now I canNOT get back to sleep. :frowning:

It’s called Monarchy, hosted by David Starkey. I watched Ep 3 last night. William the Conquerer was not a nice man.

At the risk of further exhibiting my failing memory, what’s your master’s in? And good luck getting a certificate in something to get you out of the pizza joint. I think radiology would be interesting, were I inclined to a medical-related certificate. Mostly because it likely doesn’t include dealing with bodily fluids. Good luck!

I haven’t even started trying to figure out the automatic stuff on the Santa Fe. I drive it so rarely, I still haven’t mastered the cruise control. I have reservations about my vehicle doing things automatically - when I’m driving, I want control. Go ahead and warn me of a vehicle in my blind spot, but leave the driving to me please. Thank you. :stuck_out_tongue:

FWIW, the nearest Waffle House to me is 55 miles away in a different state. Guess I’ll just have to miss out on the floor show.

When we moved here from FL (21 years ago?!?!?) I’d follow the website from our old county. Then I got bored with it - it didn’t affect me and I just didn’t care. Now I really don’t care.

When we got Otis, we literally drove by the house we had in Virginia and thru our old stomping grounds. It was kind of disturbing to see how much it’s been built up. Again, glad we don’t live there.

:tada:  :clinking_glasses:

Good buddy Mel gave me about 9 hours of sleepage last night, interrupted only twice by my nagging bladder. I’m thinking today I’ll try to dig out as many lilies as I can from the area that’s about to be landscaped. I don’t want to pay the crew to be gentle as they prep the area. I’ll take my cart and once it’s full, I’ll quit. Then I’ll ask them as they’re digging if they can set aside any they dig up and see what the deal is. If not, well, I didn’t buy any of them - my mom gave me most.

I figure I’m good for maybe an hour of digging. Then maybe a trip to Food Lion to check out this week’s specials. FCD will spend much of the day continuing the electrical hook-ups to the generator. All that’ll be left is figuring out supper - maybe sausage and sauerkraut? We shall see.

Happy Wednesday!

If you haven’t seen this recent thread, you might get some interesting ideas:

Good morning.

It’s 46°F and foggy outside. It’ll be cloudy today, with a slight chance of some afternoon or evening rain showers, and a daytime high of 64°F. Supposedly, an atmospheric river is supposed to hit us on Friday, and Saturday, of course, looks to be soggy, too.

FCM, such good news about your mother!

Shoe, that is really forward-looking and gets you off that floor and away from teenage drama/snits.

Sticky Buns, I’m sorry about the lack of sleep and grumpiness. I hope things improve soon. Great news on the weight loss front!

Nellie, I’m sorry to read that your back is bothering you so much. Your neighbor seems to live in multiple universes, but what I really hope is that reality arrives and a solution is found for bitey dog and her.

BooFae, I sure hope HR figures out what to do about drama queen minion. People like that drag down the whole office.

VanGo, I’m glad to read the rib isn’t broken, and I hope the bruising heals up quickly.

My son is sick. He sent a note on Messenger last night, saying he had two jackets on and that the space heater in his office was turned up to max, and he felt awful. He must have caught a bug on the plane or at the airport. As always, I told him to message me if he needed anything. He won’t, but I always offer.

I made navy bean and ham soup yesterday, and there is plenty left over for tonight’s dinner. It was tasty and hit the spot. Other than making soup, I just did little bits of tidying or picking up here and there.

I should run the rollsuck today or tomorrow, and I should probably wash the floor. We’ll see how energetic I am. I think I’ll hold off on buying a foraging knife for now and sharpen the one I have. I’d be very surprised if my friend still wants to go mushroom foraging on Saturday, so I don’t see the point in spending money on the knife.

That’s about all that’s happening in my little neck of the woods. Life is mundane, for the moment, and I guess that’s alright.

Take care of yourselves!

Ha-ha-ha!!! sez the cranky night nurse, dream on.

i do like the kondo method of folding. that does work very well. also thanking items for their service to you before you let them go, satisfies my whimsical side. ms kondo does say that spending time with your family is more important than a fanatically tidy place.

sometimes you need to do a huge pull everything out clean, other times you need a declutter in place clear. i find the ala carte thing works for me. bits and bobs from various organizational/cleaning gurus.

And why is a sick person in an office instead of in bed? Kids these days!

Welp, based on @missred’s vicarious Nashville Waffle House adventure with the pepper spray, I decided to visit our local Waffle House. Although Florida has over a hundred, Greater Miami is kinda short on them. So I launched down the freeway 12 miles to the nearest one and here I am right now enjoying the floorshow.

The staff has been sweet, the floorshow has been mildly entertaining, the food was good and plenty of it, and the place has ebbed and flowed from empty to jammed to empty to now jamming up again. The warning signs at the front door instructing patrons on the established rules of conduct amount to “No felonies inside, please”, and were a bit intimidating. But seem to be working. So far the meal has been as everyone hopes their meals will be: gunfire-free. (That’s a Dave Barry allusion; I’m not some jerk who expects trouble)

Anyhow, meal is done, they’re gonna need my seat soon, so I’m gonna head home to commence the RDOSing.

I meant his home office. He’s 100% remote, thank goodness. I apologize for the misunderstanding.

Do you think either higher education or medicine is free of teenage drama/snits? I wish I had your optimism… Maybe there’s some zen monastery somewhere which doesn’t have any of that sort of thing, but I’m not holding my breath. But being paid better for dealing with it is a biiig plus!

I’m all plague-ridden today and took the day off. Went in to get my laptop so I can check emails and pretend to be irking if someone askes (hey, I’m a student, what did you expect?) but I’m far too sneezy and snotty for the lab. Annoying timing though, I’m running late with things already.

Howdy Y’all! Provisions were procured and stowed. All done in just under an hour. Go Us!

MOOOOOOM I found Royalty last night and watched the first episode. It was really good. Think I will watch number two shortly just for funsies.

Taters hope your son is feelin’ better soonest.

Pilot glad you enjoyed dinner and a show. Of course the best Waffle House floor shows are between midnight and six a.m.

Journalism. BA in English. But those skills are rusty, outdated, and not very marketable.

I’m so jealous. I barely slept last night, and feel like absolute shit right now. Good thing I’m off today, but there’s shit I gotta do and I can barely get out of bed (and the bathroom) dammit.

Well, this was supposed to be my first ‘routine’ day of the week, after all the car buying and almost-selling and stuff, so…I started by sleeping in almost to 9am, which threw my routine for a loop right at the start. Am trying to get back to it, but we’ll see how the day goes (which, BTW, is bright and clear and 59F heading to 70F). Soccer tonight and we’re supposed to play a game instead of practicing, so that’s another modest disruption to the routine.

Now, time to play catch-up…

doggio, well played.

nellie, thanks for the postscript to the story, quite touching. And hope Luna isn’t too inquisitive in the future…and some gentle {{{ }}} regarding your back.

Sticky Buns, I’d loan you some of my sleep from today if I could. And a cracked filling will make anyone grumpy. And conga-rats for losing 80lbs. Took me about 3 years to do it on my own, but I feel so much better now.

boo fae, I do hope the Minion problem gets sorted out, I kinda feel for the Drama Queen, she must have some problems, but when they affect her workmates constantly and she doesn’t deal with them, well…

shoe, been there, tossed and turned that. Hope you have time for nappage.

FCM, must be a good day for sleeping 9 hours, I did too, but only one Bladder Alert.
Happy lily-digging!

Taters, hope son is feeling better soon, planes and airports are good places to catch stuff.

Pilot, I have two Waffle Houses within a 5 minute drive, I might have to stop in one soon just to keep up with all y’all.

Feel better soon, Nut. You too, shoe

And it’s already time to consider lunch and I’ve only been up an hour or so. Getting into the sloth-mode routine is going to be hard, but I’ll try my best. Take care and happy Hump Day all.

Got my free clothes.
Wore my winter jacket and scarf.
No, heats not on yet.
I put drop cloth over the large only window. Its about 8 feet across.
Off to work.
When my boss texted me my schedule, he said, Let me know if this works for you.
Nice!

I would absolutely love that feature! I wonder if it has a manual control for fog.

Yay!

My grandmother used to rinse / drain (homemade) kraut, put it in the skillet with some chopped onion and sliced apples, stir in some caraway and put her kielbasa in until everything is cooked through. It’s one of the few ways I’ll eat kraut.

Feel better soonest nut!

I hope that your son does the sensible thing and gets some rest / fluids so’s he can get well, taters.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Nothing but making out next week’s menu and grocery list on the have to do list today.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Educate me - what’s special about a foraging knife as opposed to a pocket knife or a switchblade?

Really? Any specific, not-too-gross examples you care to share?

Erma Bombeck often addressed this. She prioritized spending time with kids over maintaining a spotless house, believing that children grow up fast and the time spent together is more valuable than housework, which can wait.

I shall try that - on Tubi also?

ick!!! I don’t like caraway, so I have to buy seedless rye bread for me and the seeded kind for my sweetie.

Our recipe (such as it is) is to boil the fresh sausage till it’s cooked (45 minutes as I recall) then pour off all but maybe a cup/cup anna half of the water and dump the drained kraut in there and heat it thru. Then slice up the sausage and add it and make sure it’s all nice and hot, then inhale. There may or may not have been onions, but I like that idea. Or I’ll cook up the onions with russet chunks as the side. FCD likes that particular side.

I spent almost an hour digging up some lilies - I might have rescued about a quarter of what I have. Most are probably the wild orange ones. I may break down and buy some other varieties. We’ll see after the landscapers are done.

Once I boxed the lilies, I was taking my cart and tools back to the shed and Otis attacked. Yeah, I know, he’s just playing, but the boy plays rough. I hate to think how it would have been if the hoodie wasn’t between my arm and his mouth. Anyway, I found one of his chew toys out there, and I threw it for him a few times. He got bored with fetch and decided to steal one of my gloves. Idiot.

When I can get him out of play mode, he does really well with the skills he learned in class. And when he starts to get out of control in the house, I’ve been putting him in the yard. I will address all of this with Trish on Saturday. Meanwhile, where can I get those padded sleeves used to train attack dogs???

After I finish lunch and after Otis has his mid-day kibbles, I’ll harness him up for a walk. Then I’ll crate him and make my Food Lion run. I don’t think I’m doing this RDOS stuff quite right.

I did find Royalty on Tubi. I have also bookmarked Monarch. We shall be up to our ears in English Monarchy and Royalty for quite some time!

So the 100 Sort Table again. Which was slammed all morning. And they took one guy and replaced him with a Blueberry. I finished up helping the Blueberries on the North side load Top White. damages weren’t hideous. I had everything bagels with cream cheese and smoked salmon for breakfast, and started the sauce for tonight’s tortellini. Naptime!

Sadly no. But I could never compete with your haberdashery-ly flair.

Hope the day gets slightly better.

And there was much rejoicing

After the last few years of your job, yeah. And hope Son feels better.

I had to deal with a loose urine sample this morning. At least it didn’t get run over lake that one time…

I’d suggest puppy Quaaludes.

Feel better, Nut!. Maybe swampy can sing “Soft Kitty” to you.

Being certified may mean more money, and hopefully less likely to be targeted during the next layoff round. And the work should be interesting. I did agree to do it, so I must have thought it was a good idea. Debating about signing up for a course as well, just to make sure I learn the stuff. Something to think about next week.

I don’t think I need to go to a course to be certifiable. Comes with the territory. :winking_face_with_tongue:

Seems to be quite a few bugs going around in mumperville. Hubby crashed this afternoon, so probably I’ll get it tomorrow. :frowning:

My cousin (either he or his wife is in radiology, or maybe both?) lives in Ohio and works in a VA clinic/hospital so he’s subject to the federal drug rules and gets tested regularly for illegal substances. So he has to wait before he retires, or gets a job someplace else , before he can partake of the devi’s lettuce.

Didn’t sleep well last night, so I might crash sooner than later.

Did our good deed for the year. We volunteered, with some other Home folks, to pack food boxes for school kids in need. Our station alone packed over 425 bags of food in two hours and there were eight stations with people a lot younger than our group. One of our volunteers is 96 and was able to stay on her feet the entire time.

Time to rest my aching back.
