A Routine MMP

In other words, you gave 'til it hurt.

Good on ya’ cookie, show them whippersnappers how it’s done.

Nice surprise at Food Lion - not only were the cokes on sale, but so was the root beer that FCD likes. I got 4 cases of each today, and I’ll get 4 more of each this weekend. I also got the baby back ribs that were on sale (for certain values of sale.) The tricky part was finding freezer space for them (they came frozen.) One went in the little freezer and the other fit in the fridge freezer. I may do a little rearranging… I got the makin’s for chili for my sweetie. I don’t like it (the seasonings specifically) but I don’t mind making it. I’ll cook it up tomorrow before I have to go fetch the grands.

Otis and I did a mile anna quarter. After digging in the garden, I didn’t have much more in me. Following a bit of chillage, I’ll cook the sausage. For now, I need to sit a bit.

Finally drifted off for an hour or two, and feel somewhat better. Thanks for the good wishes & sleepy vibes.

I’m still abed, getting some Monkey snuggles. I really should get up soon & see if there’s some applesauce in the fridge or something. But I feel so shaky and wrung up … I wish I couldget more rest.

And the heat is on.
The blower is loud in my new apt.

I was peeved because I was missing my exercise class. Turns out that doing two hours on your feet, twisting and turning and lifting cans is a pretty good substitute. I took two breaks to rehydrate, but it was about the limit for me. I could tell my blood sugar was plummeting as I was getting a bit dizzy. Got home and chowed down a Nature Valley bar.

Our new river is set for opening to the public tomorrow. We cobbled the entire streambed. The rest of the exhibit team has decided to call it “Peach Cobble” since I put in a rock that she dug up from, so far, the only hole she dug in my yard. She came up to me with a rock in her mouth, like the size of a softball, the most normal looking rock ever, but she had dug down a foot to find it.

I don’t think that name will stick for the river going forward. But it will stay on the keys.

I love this.

I liked doing that at Second Harvest when my group of heathens volunteered. I also liked packaging diapers with Nashville Diaper Connection. I’m hoping to find some of the same kind of volunteer work soon.

Did mostly RDOS today. Tomorrow, Sis and I will have our girls’ day out. Now to finish up the two cards I started earlier.

Howdy Y’all! Also Lawd Have Mercy! I am too dang old to wrangle young’uns! More on this in a bit. We are home from the Wednesday doin’s. We et beastloaf, smashed N.O.T., corn, rolls and brownies with chawklit icin’. Yum! We helped serve tonight. OYKW helped with cleanup whilst I dealt with the crumb snatchers.

Now the tale of why I was wranglin’ young’uns. On All Saints Sunday (November 2nd) we will have a grand processional/recessional, and a Baptism. We are pullin’ out all the stops which means also herdin’ at least eight acolytes. We rehearsed that tonight along with makin’ sure they all have the correct size vestments. The rugrats tend to grow cause apparently their ‘rents feed ‘em on a regular basis. After forty minutes of this I was worn slap out! How do people do this all day long! Other verger and I have decided we have lost our minds to do this. I suspect, however, that we will pull this off and it will be glorious.

VanGo AWWW! Peach helped daddy with his work project. How sweet!

I hope all goes well, I know that you will be excellent at your job. Can you focus on being a mamo tech? Your sense of humor would help make such an unpleasant procedure something almost like fun.

I enjoyed her show for a few episodes. My last job wasn’t sparking joy in my life, so I walked out mid-shift. That was some good advice!

I’m glad your GF is currently sparking joy in your life!

I’m glad you were seen, even happier to know that you didn’t actually break anything. Now try to take it easy, OK?

As to the water, is there a way you could mount a ring of something to help amplify the burble? I’m thinking about how if you put your cell phone in a glass, it amplifies the speaker?

I have a little advice for you. Do NOT browse the dip aisle. If you do, do not look at the Cannoli dip. If you must look, do not put it in your cart.

I’m serious, pay attention to me. You want NOTHING to do with it ever.

Soooo good with biscotti but you can eat it with a spoon. Each teaspoon is about 5 million empty, addictive calories, there is absolutely nothing healthy about it.

But it went off in her hand, totally not her fault!

As a side note, I know from personal experience that the food was just fine. We once pepper sprayed a pizza (weed/booze were involved) and ate it to see what would happen. Nobody turned green or died. Nobody really tasted anything TBH, but we sure did smell it while the pizza was being assaulted.

That is amazing. Such wonderful news considering the tragedy involved.

I hope your back starts feeling better. Hubs was pretty hurty last week and I was considering just shooting him and putting him out of our misery.

That sucks. I’m so sorry for you.

I had NO idea teeth weighed that much, maybe I’ll start eating cruchy stuff too!

Kidding, I know you’ve worked for it, Great Job!

Well, dang. I’ve heard the latest flu is not fun at all, I hope you have missed that!

I have a MLS (Master of Library Science). My degree was useless before I even finished uni. There are a thousand Librarians applying for each 10 hour a week page positions, you have to be related to someone to actually get on full time at the Reference Desk.

Go to the thrift store and buy a leather or thick canvas jacket. Cut the arms off and sew elastic garters to the edges. REMEMBER to put them on when going out to play with the dog.

Good job! Hungry children don’t learn well.

Lack of food and sleep just fucks you up so much. Can you ask your folks for money for Christmas? Just enough to let you take a few days off and just sleep?

I have no doubts!

So, I don’t really have much of a routine. I get up when I wake up and I go to bed when I’m tired or hubs has tossed the fuzzbutts out. There are things that get done daily, but for the most part they just happen when they happen. Except dinner. Hubs is all about routine and wants dinner at 1800. (He also sets an alarm to get him up in the morning, for his naps, for kitty feeding time and kitty treat time.)

Not much has been happening here. The forest is changing colors and the leaves are falling like rain.

Harry hasn’t heard anything about our housekeeper, and he’s worrying about her too. He went by her bf’s place but says it looks empty.

Her daughter will be five a few days before Halloween. Her daughter is a girly-girl who loves unicorns. I think that every little girl should have a wind-up musical jewelry box, so I bought a unicorn themed box. As this is also the sort of thing that must come from a family member, I showed it to our housekeeper - she was thrilled - and agreed to keep it hidden here because she didn’t really have good hiding places at home.

If she doesn’t show up before Halloween I’m going to be sure that she’s gone from our lives forever.

It’s getting cold here. I knew that there were four seasons here before we moved, that’s one of the things I was looking forward to. Its going to take me some time to get used to them, though, the seasons change so fast. Or is that just because I’m getting old?

I planted garlic a couple of weeks ago and dug a clove up and looked at it. The little roots were already started, so I think it will be successful this year.

I’ve been ignoring my bag o’ potatoes. I planted some potato eyes in an Aldi bag thinking it was plastic. Aldi bags are plastic coated paper. The bag has pretty much disintegrated and now I have a bag shaped mound of dirt with some dying potato stalks. When the stalks start dying you know its time to harvest.

I’m sure there are some very tasty potatoes in that mound of dirt, but I really do not want to touch it. I know that as soon as I do, there will be a huge mess all over the back patio and sweeping makes my back hurt.

One of my favorite designers is having her annual trunk sale so I looked at how much I usually spend. The animal shelters are also suffering so I earmarked half for them and will still be able to get some lovely things in the mail.

Times run out, gotta go do other things for a while. TTYL

Up from naptime. Having a martini, tortellini and meatballs(Aldi changed vendors, so it’s a few ginormous meatballs instead of meany small ones), and spinach with black olives and Asiago cheese. .

Hope you avoid it, and Hubs feels better.

Yeah. but ya done good.

{{{{shoe}}}}

But glad it at least works.

[Shake and Bake commercial]And I helped![/Shake and Bake commercial]

Dip doesn’t tend to be my Achilles heel. Cheese, OtOH, is another story. :stuck_out_tongue:

Think cheese cake filling…

Good evening all, and time for the late-night final. Was the perfect sloth most of the afternoon, watching soccer and finishing (finally) the Sunday NY TImes crossword. Our soccer game got moved at the last minute but we had 10 boys there and they won 9-0 (to be fair, the other team was missing some of their best players). Then went to the gym for about 90 minutes and came home for Ham-n-Cheesers finished off with Chocolate pudding and applesauce (just because I’m counting calories doesn’t mean I won’t have fun with them). Not overly tired as I didn’t get up until nearly 8am, so bedtime will be when it happens. Temperature is down to 46F and I am tempted to get the heavyweight comforter out of storage and put it on my bed, but think I’ll hold off for a bit. No car title in the mail, hopefully tomorrow.

Coppertone, imagine it is getting cooler up north, glad your boss is a considerate sort.

FCM, Otis does love you, just has a physical way of showing it. Hope the class can help. I like JtC’s idea. And I really have to try the no calorie A&W Root Beer sometime

It was trying to escape? and the one that got run over…ick :splatter:

VanGo, I just know the new river will be a hit. And the Peach Cobble name is fantastic, hope it lasts.

Swampy, I coach 7 six or seven-year old boys and am assistant coach to a dozen 10-11 year olds so I know what you are talking about

Dicey, go forth and get certified, if possible, it sounds like a positive for you.

Cookie, a good deed indeed. Well done.

JtC, my best wishes to your missing housekeeper, I wish her well whatever her situation is.

And it’s heading towards 11pm, so I guess I need to prepare for Slumberland. Catch y’all tomorrow.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s 48 degrees Ferret Height(8.9 Centipedes). There’s a Fire Danger Alert today.

Well, it did escape the shipping bag.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 7c/45f with a predicted high of 11c/52f and scattered showers. Weather app says “Today is not your fucking day. Tomorrow doesn’t fucking look good either.”

Poor guy, I hope he feels better soon. I am sure he appreciated the offer of help, even if he doesn’t take you up on it.

I work in higher ed, and worked in the Med School…there is nowhere that’s free of drama. Academic staff are as bad as students when it comes to tantrums and foot-stamping when they don’t get their own way. And feel better soon!

Sticky Buns congrats on the weight loss, that’s a great achievement!

That is indeed a good thing to do. I hope your back forgives you for it.

Awww…that’s so sweet!

You live in such a great community where people are concerned for others. I am going to sit here and worry right along with you.

Yesterday was frustrating in that I had two things I really want to get done, and achieved neither because something else big and complicated got in the way. That job is almost sorted now, so at least something was achieved, just not what I wanted to get out of the way.

I went to the pub with my friends last night, they have decided not to have any more ferrets now that the last one has gone. They have a cat, and think that is enough of a pet for them although I might be able to persuade them that they really need a second cat…

Today is grey and dreary outside, we have Storm Ben coming our way today and promising heavy rain with strong winds. ‘im indoors is coming home tonight so hopefully his train journey won’t be too badly affected. I’ll have to wait for him to let me know later this evening as I’ll be fetching him from the station. Other than that, I have a boring 3hr leadership training thing this morning - fortunately it’s the last of five sessions, and I’ll be glad when it’s over as it’s really just a re-hash of something I’ve done before so it’s been no benefit at all. I’ll be taking a strong cup of tea with me.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 46 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 78 and sunny. We shall be bears who lunch at Asia hog trough Buffet. That will take care of today’s main need to feed. The rest of the day will be spent in RDOS inactivities. We (royal we) have much English royalty stuff to watch. This greatly pleases us.

There seems to be an abundance of under the weather Mumpers and kin. Hope everyone is better soonest.

Coppertone yay for heat and a boss who seems flexible about schedules!

BooFae hope you survive the trainin’. I always hated havin’ to rehash old trainin’ stuff. Unfortunately corporate and HR folk seem to love it.

JtC hope you here from housekeeper soonest.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy so I can take meds. I suppose I must purtify as well and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. The things we do for our public!

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Is it perhaps a vent that’s not fully open causing it to sound loud? Just a thought.

I’d have to wear them all the time because he always wants to play. Well, except when I’m in the kitchen. I think the spirit of Higgs told him that if he’s a good boy, he’ll get snacks while I cook!! I’ll be making a big batch of chili, plus some mac-n-cheese-n-peas to take for the kids tonight. So lots of kitchen time. Hope he continues to chill in there.

His training is going really well - we’ve both worked with him at home and he’s doing all the stuff we learned last week. plus he saw where I keep the training treats in my side table, so when I open that drawer, there he is. The dog is S-M-R-T! I’m hoping Trish gives us the magical guidance that’ll keep him from noshing on my arms and jumping on me.

Not mixed together, I hope…< shudder >

No kidding. Once a year we had to do assorted security and handling of classified materials reviews. One in particular (that was never changed or updated) had such tips as “vary your commute route” and “never get a ground floor hotel room” and “don’t talk to sexy strangers in bars who ask about your work” - yanno, really helpful info for drones who sit in an office all day… it was easy enough to click thru the slides, then take the quiz at the end, tho you had to click slowly - I guess to prove that you were reading them?

The furnace kicked on this morning - before too long, the pellet stove will be burning full time. I fired it up as soon as I came out to make my breakfast. How strange that 68° is just a tad too chill, even when wearing my fuzzy robe.

FCD bought a bigger critter fountain for Otis - I can’t tell yet whether he likes it, but Ziva doesn’t. I’m not crazy about it either - it seems too shallow. But we’ll give it a day or two. Meanwhile, I’ll put a plain bowl of water in the bedroom for Ziva. Poor thirsty kitteh!

Speaking of whom, last night on 2 occasions, she followed FCD into the bathroom demanding skritches when he was upon the throne. She never did that before!! Cats is soooooooo weird!

Daughter is leaving for another weekend in Akron with her bestie. I’ll pick up the kids after school, feed them, then put them to bed, and with luck, SIL will get home before 10. I hope I remember their evening routine.

For now, tho, the latest NAR is waiting for me. Happy Thursday!!

Nope, but did use the same spoon… :scream:

FCM, I remember that training well, I think they did update it (and the sexual harrassment annual training) later on, but the words stayed the same. ANd now I have to redo my soccer safety training every year, and that gets updated maybe once every 5 years, so I know it nearly by heart. And just hauled the room space heater out and turned it on, so guess I’m getting old and cold too (49F outside now but heading to 76F). And I’m pretty sure you confirmed that’s Akron, Ohio, which is a 6-hour drive according to Google Maps, so must be a bestie bestie.

Boo fae, hope Ben is too bad a storm, like that name for a storm (unless it is hitting me, of course..). Stay dry.

As for me, up about 7am, broken fast and read e-mail. Not much on the agenda except coach my 7-year olds this afternoon, it will be our last practice so I need to think of some fun things to do. May wear my Sherman Tank slippers to practice if the ground is dry and I won’t fall over. Outside of that and the usual gym time, nothing except RDOS and slothing is in the cards.

Have a good Thorsday all.

OMG - how could I forget that one?!? And when I was at Jax, we also had some sort of inane “treat people nice” training. One year, it was run by a supervisor who acted like he was a preacher in a black baptist church - it was embarrassing! And it was the first and last time they let him do it.

They have been besties since they were 5 (daughter just turned 40.) Her friend will be coming here for Thanksgiving, and they hope to alternate which one makes the trip every month. Guess I was no one’s bestie because I can’t think of anyone I’d drive that far to see for a weekend. Not even the guy I thought I was in love with 50 years ago…

Chili is almost done - I forgot to pre-cook the black beans - they’ll go in about 20 minutes from now, and I’ll simmer it all for maybe another hour? Dunno. I’ll set a serving aside for FCD’s supper, and the rest will go into freezer bags.

I also mixed up another jar of peanut butter - I buy the kind that’s just peanuts and salt, so the oil separates. Once I blend it together again, it goes in the fridge. The last dregs from the last jar have been spread on one of Otis’ chew bones and he’s licking the dickens out of it! And as soon as the black beans go into the chili, I’ll start the mac-n-cheese-n-peas.

And the trick to not being gnawed on by Otis is to be working in the kitchen. That’ll get old fast! Day after tomorrow, we’ll see the trainer again.
