A Sad Tale of Two Best Friends

I find this very affecting. Story and photos are here.

A monkey and a dog are best friends. The monkey even likes to ride the dog like a horse. Bastard neighbor is annoyed at the pair and becomes even more so when they receive media attention. Bastard neighbor poisons the dog. Photo of monkey trying to wake up his friend to go play. :frowning:

People are jerks. Sometimes it helps to think that the asshole things people do in this life will come back to them in this life or the next.

Aw. :frowning: The poor monkey looks so stricken.

“Jerk” is an understatement.

That is so incredibly sad. Wow. I can’t believe it. Some people are so heartless. cold and cruel. What an inhumane thing to do.

Can’t and won’t look at the picture.

Unimaginable.

I’m actually pissed at myself for reading this.

Sucks sucks sucks. Dammit. I so totally hate things like this I can’t even express it.

The animals’ owner is a cop. At first I wondered what was up, because in Thailand, police are generally a law unto themselves, and this would have to be a pretty wimpy cop to let something like this pass, let alone happen. But then I see the bastard perp neighbor is another cop. Obviously a more powerful one. I can tell you not a thing will happen to him. There are good cops and bad cops here, but they’re all pretty much untouchable by the law.

I don’t have the words to adequately express how angry this makes me. I could do physical harm to that bastard and never regret it.

That is so sad. :frowning: Maybe if enough people are upset by the media coverage of it something will happen to the perpetrator? I would like to think so at least.

I can’t believe that I can still be surprised by the things we humans do.

my god. the rat bastard. I hope astonishingly bad things happen to him.

That is just absolutely awful. I hope the owner manages to get the transfer he requested so he can get away from that horrific person.

I’m afraid not. First, again the perp is a cop and thus untouchable. Second, it’s already passed out of the news. Animal cruelty is such an everyday occurrence – which surprises many considering this is a Buddhist society – that not that many people raise an eyebrow. Monkey riding a dog? Cute as all get out and gets coverage everywhere. Man poisons the dog? Small coverage in the English-language press, next to none in the Thai press.

Holy CRAP that picture of that monkey desperately hugging his dead best friend was devastatingly sad.
