A Scandal of Breasts

No, I am not talking about breast-feeding in Target (but, honestly, what is wrong with people?) or just trying to make up a new collective noun.

I want to bring your attention to the implants that may be at greater risk of rupture, and the fool who made them.

This should be titled “What a Dangerous Idiot”

Haddad said Mas acknowledges using unapproved silicon gel, but is adamant it is safe.

“PIP knew it wasn’t in compliance, but it wasn’t a toxic product,” the lawyer said, adding it “had not been proven” the implants were any more likely to leak.

If you are not in the industry, but just an innocent consumer of medical devices - such as alcohol wipes, cardiovascular stents, and breast protheses - you are probably horrified.

If you are in the industry, you are probably outraged and horrified (and possibly chanting “U S A” in your head), because you understand just how … wrong this is. (If you are in the industry and you are neither outraged nor horrified, you better hope* I* am not the one to go auditor all over your ass.)

I am no innocent, but this … just …

You don’t implant an unapproved and non-qualified critical raw material into a person’s body. You don’t assume implanted materials are non-toxic. And you don’t imply that it is someone else’s job to prove your product is unsafe, rather than yours to prove it is.

No wonder everyone hates the medical industry. You know, I would like to apologize to the rest of you for this member of my industry.
Idiot.

My favourite kind of scandal.

A tempest in a D cup.

Sure, it’s all fun and games, until someone ends up with silicone in the blood stream; then it’s hilarious.

Some day I will have a warning letter or recall just for you.
