A self-rescue MMP

Cedar Point has a new coaster and the Old Wench was invited to be one of the crash test dummies for media day. Free coaster time with no line ----- very good thing. Reporting to the park at 4AM on a week day ------ not so good thing. Cleve-landers, that grumbling noise you hear passing through Wednesday night/Thursday AM will be me.

Perhaps, but I thought I’d start here since y’all have a faint grasp of my inherent weirdness. And, there’s bunch of us within 150 miles of the place.

Regarding the OP, I grew up spending my summers on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, and I know of the marshes and mud of which you speak.

I have to say the odors of marsh gas, gasoline and motor oil are such triggers of joy for me, they immediately remind me of my endless days on the water and tromping through the grasses.

I am glad to read of your recovery. The thing is as I read your description I heard every wet splorking sound and I smelled it!

Thanks for a good read!
I had a shitty Sunday as listed in another thread here. I have a 4 day work eeek then a 3 day weekend with my children, so this week can’t go by fast enough for me.

(Note: I just saw the typo of ‘week’ to ‘eeek’ above. It seems appropriate. I will leave it.)

Oddly upbeat for a Monday. Hmmm.

Happy Moanday everyone. I spent yesterday reorganizing my craft room by boxing up all of my quilting books for storage and 2 or 3 hundred quilting magazines (which are being donated to a friend), moving said heavy boxes of books and magazines (twice!) and putting all of my yarn out on the newly moved bookcase so I can see all of the pretty, yarny goodness. I boxed up some old craft stuff to sell (anyone want polymer clay or papercraft/scrapbooking stuff?). I can now get to my little floor loom and have more room to move around the cutting table without danger of bruising myself on the corners. Next task is to arrange the yarn in a pleasing manner by weight and color. But man, I hurt today! The task after that is to reorganize the fabric closet. That will take some doing!

Also, I may be losing my job because the business may be folding. I’m not really worried about it, but I’ve gotten used to being paid for doing nothing all day.

It’s stopped raining and being (quite as) windy!

I opened the windows to let some fresh air in and now the African violet is giving me Bad Looks because it’s chilly.

After I finish this pot o’ coffee I’m going to get my mane trimmed and drop off another load at the used bookstore. Watch me buy more books like I need any more right now. This. This is why my ultimate goal in life is to steal the library (room) out of the Old Shack in the Woods. I will *need *that room soon. It has shelves on all four walls.

Afternoon, all! Well done on getting out of a fix there, BBBobbio - I always knew fishing was a dangerous game!

It’s been a busy weekend over here, and I am very grateful that today is a public holiday (not that I’m getting much lazing around done). On Friday I went down to Reading to see a comedian, came home Saturday afternoon and didn’t do much apart from half an hour on the Wii and making chilli for dinner.

Yesterday I was over at my mum’s all day, she still has the tail end of a very nasty chest infection and is on her second full course of anti-bees. She has had a chest x-ray which came back much the same as usual, she has some old scarring on her lungs from previous problems like pleurisy and pneumonia, so there wasn’t anything on there to worry her GP. She is pretty much recovered now but I had promised to go over and do some stuff for her so I changed her bedding, did the laundry, took her out for lunch, did the grocery shopping and took her to the garden centre so that she doesn’t need to do anything strenuous for herself.

Today as it’s a bonus day off, I have been extra productive! I weeded the front borders around the drive, then I weeded and prepared the tubs in the back garden for planting as I’ll be growing veg in those and my friend has some seed potatoes for me which I’ll pick up tomorrow when I see her. After that, I had a little lunch break, then roasted loads of veggies that had been around a while and would go off if they weren’t cooked, and I made some fruit and oat bars for our taster night at Fat Club tomorrow evening. Then I vacuumed, and now I’m having a short rest and a cup of tea before I get on with the ironing, then do half an hour on the Wii, prepare some meat for a marinade for dinner tonight, and then have a bath to recover from all that exertion.

I’ll be the one in a heap on the sofa watching “Game of Thrones” later.

Good morning everyone, and happy Monday. It hasn’t even been a week yet but I feel like I’ve been onshore for an eternity already. Can I go back to work yet? :frowning:

I mowed the lawn this morning. Yay! Time to do some dishes and… then we’ll see.

Hope you all are well.

A comic for swampy

Blurf.

 THE HORROR!!! Let this be a lesson to all of you! Anything less than an unopened twelve pack is a tp emergency!

N.O.L. today is peanut butter and cheese crackers cause I forgot to bring what I had made with me. Oh well. It’ll be tomorrow’s N.O.L. I made up a veggie lasagna last night which will be tonight’s dindin so I have that to look forward to eatin’. The recipe, btw, is in the recipe blog.

Irk could be irkier so there is that. Also, gigity I kinda like the term irk eeek.

How have we never happened upon this before?!?!?! It is truly genius!!

My brain is turning to mush - the verbiage is so horrid…

Back into the fray… :frowning:

Things to do in and around DC:

As to the plantings, for the record, I kept trying to get them to let me help, and they would say things like “I just want to dig up this one other area.” And “You can help on the next one, but in the meantime can you get me some water.” And when I would come back they would have already started digging the next hole, amending the soil, etc. I did dig up 2 whole shovel’s full before my father didn’t like the way I was doing it and took the shovel back. I was super grateful for their help, as my husband flaked out on me after mowing the lawn. He said he was going to do it, but was covienently busy clipping hedges when project time came. . I am super happy and can not wait until the hydranga’s bloom. The snowball verbona, rhododendron and lilac are already in bloom. Its about time my backyard had some color in it dagnabbit!

I’m HUNGRY! WAAAAH!

Today is Monday, so I biked to work. I didn’t pack my lunch, because today is Rotary, and I eat lunch there. I got involved in a project and realized at almost the last minute that it was time to leave. My usual ride buddy wasn’t available, so I ran down the hall to check out a college car. Grabbed the keys, went outside, started’er up…and the tank was empty.

I decided at that point that, by the time I got the tank filled, it would be too late to slip into a meeting from which I was also going to have to leave early.

Alas, I also forgot my debit card. So, no money, no iunch. :frowning: Can somebody FTP me a sammich?

She was Swampy

She took in foster kids, collected food and furniture for the homeless, ran a day care up until a few years ago, traveled all over Europe and was always smiling and enthusiastic about life.
She was only 86, if you’d met her you would have thought she was years younger.
She accepted life and people as they come, had a generous heart and rolled with the punches with style and grace.

She was a beautiful woman, both inside and out.

Super laaaazy day juggling (badly) in the park.

Tis that rarest of things in the UK- a sunny public holiday. The park was seething with hippies and students, it’s like a mini festival down there.

Alas, it cannot last- tomorrow I start this stoopid course, which I’m really not looking forward to. 3 days of “remember not to bite customers” and “don’t go to work with no pants on”. At least it’s only 3 days, not two weeks this time.

Work Eeek is brilliant, as is Moanday.

Cold, wet, rainy weekend. 2 3/4" of rain. But I’m leaving work early to go see Iron Man with my favorite nephew.

Lawn-motor status - still down. I’ve removed the carburetor and the small engine guy says the solenoid is working properly and cleaned it. I’ll reinstall it either tonight or tomorrow and see if I can get it started. If not, I’m going to have to look at buying another mower.

This weekend I baked Incredibly Stinky Liver Dog Treats for the dogs, and they think the world revolves around me. This stuff smells so bad I moved my toaster oven to the back porch and cooked them out there. They don’t stink too much after cooking, though. I also baked some beautiful loaves of bread.

StG

Aw shucks… Y’all makin me blush. The thread should be titled MMT for Monday Morning Typos.

I think I’ll start cleaning out, I mean, tidying up my office here at work. I will begin by cleaning out my craft stash drawers. (Yes, multiple drawers. I have yarn, knitting needles and crochet hooks at work. 3 drawers of them.) Debating taking the art on the walls home, but that may look too much like I’m leaving. Which I’m not, not yet. The HR guys assured us that he is going to do everything in his power to keep the paychecks coming.

Hi errybody and happy Moanday
