I forgot to share one little bit of aquarium drama. We have a coral banded shrimp which is fairly large - his body is about 3" long and his front-claw-span is at least twice that. In the time we’ve had him, he’s grown, molting at least 3 or 4 times. When I went to the fish store last week, among other things, I got 3 green chromis - each maybe an inch long. At maturity, they’re usually 2-3".
Yesterday when we got home from work, **FCD **noticed there were only 2 small chromis in the tank. When he looked at the shrimp, it was holding what looked suspiciously like the skeleton of a fish that was about an inch long. We don’t know if he managed to grab the chromis as it swam by or if the fish had been stunned by the anemone or if it was sickly. In any event, it became sushi. I was surprised - I knew the shrimp was a scavenger, but I didn’t know it was a predator. **FCD **offered it a shrimp we had for feeding the big anemone, and apparently coral banded shrimp have no problems eating their cousins.
It’s a dangerous world under water!!
And speaking of water, I think I need to shower now…
I has a blurf. That is because I’ve just sat through a 2hr meeting about exchange students. Big blurf indeed. But today is pub day so I’ve got something to look forward to!

Moooom, mebbe you should name your aquarium The ThunderDome.
A gentleman does not kiss & tell; however I am not Swampy; sorry no TMI here! OTOH, I might be willing to admit to owning a necklace that said “Hartz” in my past.
a flea collar, if you didn’t get the reference
In other news, it’s raining out & I’m looking for a tractor trailer full of flour to crash for -on-the-road biscuits.
Yeah, rain & shortening on the interstate, must be fun driving!
All righty then. I’m showered, dressed, fed, and about to go into the garage and assemble a wagon. I know you wish you had my life!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up, caffienated and at irk. ‘Tis a loverly 70 Amurrkin out and sunny with a predicted high of 84 for the day. I met OYKW at Booger King for a bizkit this mornin’ before irk cause he called me at six a.m. and wanted me to meet him. How could I refuse!
gigity HEE! That was funny.
flytrap maybe your email is mad at you. Think of ways you might have slighted it and beg it for forgiveness.
Spidey you got fleas?
Ok that’s all I got for now. Need to get back to irk I reckon. Sigh.
Morning,
Blurf.
Not sure what I have to thank for the disco thumping away in my head.
Still bummed at not doing roller coasters. I like them, but can’t really justify paying $20 per ride.
Something is wrong with my body? mind?
It seems to think that the alarm going off means it’s time to fall asleep.
The sun is shining, I’m up and at irk.
Have to walk hell pup today and put the laundry away from yesterday.
Found two houses to go see, but I haven’t heard back from the agent.
Have to call the insurance company to find out why they haven’t taken out my car insurance payment. I think this is renewal month but it should have been automatic anyway.
Haven’t decided what if anything we are doing for Sah-kids birthday.
He only wants two friends to come over and both of them will have a hard time making it.
Maybe we’ll just wait and do a big graduation thing.
So as I threatened I will tell you about his one friend and the mess of her life thanks to her mother.
It’s so nice that it’s not my family that is screwed up this time, unless Sah-kid decides to marry her or something.
Anyway his friend is named Tracy (yeah right, like I am going to use real names here) and her mother is Alice.
Tracy is a year or so older than Sah-kid but she was held back a year so they are in the same grade. Originally her mother and I brought the kids together so Sah-kid could help Tracy with her math homework.
When Tracy was 17 (she’s now 19) her mother who was @33 took up with a
17 year old boy.
Yes you heard that right, a 17 year old boy.
Not only was he only 17, he was a high school drop out and illiterate.
And yes, it’s legal.
Not only did Alice take up with the 17 year old, she left her husband and took Tracy and her other two kids and move in with him.
If that wasn’t bad enough, she then got pregnant by him. She had the baby girl a few months ago and that is when she admitted that the now 19 year old had been abusive and beating her
so she took the baby and her other three kids and move halfway across the state to be closer to her family.
So not only did Tracys mother date a boy the same age as her, and go on to have a baby with him, but she also dragged Tracy out of high school half way through her senior year.
I don’t know what Alice was thinking.
Morning all. I may have FCM’s life starting next week. There may only be payroll money to pay til the end of this week. sigh But that’s okay. Unlike the last time I was briefly unemployed, I am not feeling like I’ve been divorced or kicked out of my family*. I have tons of stuff to do and create for my next vending event at the end of the month. Keeping busy is not a problem.
My husband thinks that I am going to drop the cleaning service if I go on unemployment. I quickly corrected him on that. I haven’t scrubbed a toilet in 2 years, and I ain’t gonna start now. (I pay for the service out of my own pocket) We are in a happy place where me not being employed will not be a problem for a long while since we don’t have a mortgage.
Happy baby thoughts, hugs, giggles and beer for all!
*I had been with that firm for 10 years, small, family-like atmosphere and all that. Being laid off was like being suddenly handed divorce papers.
Lookwhat Higgs found in the back yard! She had been barking like crazy and I finally decided to see what was going on. What a goof!
I assembled our new cart with minimal cussing. The instructions were in a small black-and-white booklet that wasn’t quite the high quality of something that was a copy of a copy of a copy from an old xerox machine… To be fair, the text was legible, if small, but the pictures were fuzzy and just slightly better than worthless. I had to install the front axle assembly twice, since I put it on backwards first - it wasn’t till I couldn’t do step 3 that I figured it out, and even knowing how it had to go, the picture wasn’t clear.
No matter. It’s done. Yay!
And it’s loverly out. The house is open and until a few seconds ago, it was sunny. More rain is in the forecast for today, so I won’t bother trying to do anything outside. Meanwhile, I’m avoiding the mess that is my kitchen and not thinking about the bathrooms. Why didn’t one of you come over here and clean my house? I thought you were my friends???
I actually prefer haunted houses and dark rides (they remind me more of real life) but since the Old Wench has control of half the money and all the ----------------
That’s not totally fair. When Kennywood opened Ghostwood Estate she spent more of the day in ground support as I’ll do for Gatekeeper. It all works out in the end. But Kennywood started at 8am not 4frakinAM!
So I found out yesterday, that the kitchen light isn’t burnt out. Instead it had tripped the circuit breaker. I went into the bathroom, so it blinking, and reset it (… why is the bathroom outlet connected to the kitchen?!)
Then when I was cooking, it kept tripping (… why is the only counter outlet connected to the bathroom?!!). I managed to get meatballs made, but when I was trying to make Jello it really didn’t like the electric kettle. Okay, fine, the cord just barely reaches to the kitchen floor outlet… But then it wouldn’t reset.
So now I have no light in the kitchen, because the range hood goes to that outlet. I wanted to make devilled eggs, but not in the dark. And even though my kitchen is tiny, it’s too dark too wash dishes at night.
I left a message for the landlord. Waiting for them to call.
The two are connected so they only need one Ground Fault breaker.
Not the wisest move in Known Space.
It seems dumb to me to have the two spaces that are likely to have shorts because of water be connected. Also it’s annoying to have to go into the bathroom to (try to) reset it. But what do I know? At least the bathroom light isn’t connected there too.
And it saves running wire from the light to the circuit breaker panel.
N.O.L. has been et. A roast beast, cheese and mater sammich to be exact. Piles of paperirk have been completed with more on the way. Got appointments set up to go see new potential host agencies. I feel so productive!
Fancy-schmancy cart there MOOOOOOM! Plus good for Higgs! Gotta watch out for them turtles. After all, one did once beat a hare in a race. Thus, one never knows when a turtle will make a quick start and create all kinds of havoc!
Our old oil company was bought by another, and the transition of the on-line records has been less than precise. Earlier today, I called to schedule the annual checkup for our furnace and a/c systems. Then in the mail, I got a letter stating that we didn’t have coverage for the a/c and did we want to add it. I was so I called. Turns out we are covered but the online records are hosed. So our service call next month is free, except for the several hundred $$ we pay per year for the service contract. Money well spent, as far as I’m concerned…
I took Higglet to get her nails trimmed at a new place near us. The groomer used to work at PetCo and she remembered me from taking Bernie and Scruffy there. For a mere $15, she trimmed Higgs’ nails and used a little power sander thingie to smooth the rough edges. Yay! No more puppeh scratches!
And on that note, I need to clean the kitchen, since none of you have seen fit to come here and do it for me. Buncha slackers!!
