A serious question for Sam Stone on Factual Errors

The Deep from the show The Boys (a clear Aquaman/Namor homage) has gills under his rib cage on either side of his abs. It’s pretty gross and he’s very self-conscious of them.

He’s not a mermaid but he’s a “human with gills” so counts for this discussion.

I believe I’ve also seen a portrayal of mermaids (I can’t remember in which medium) that had gills around where their hips would be if they had a human lower body, or to put it another way they are on the sides at the top of the fish part. Which seems (relatively) sensible to me.

Excuse me? That would be Splash. Daryl Hannah would kick Costner’s ass into next week, and that’s without feet.

I can tell by your user name that you’re clearly not an unbiased party to this debate.

Gah, I make mistakes all the time. I just this week confused Brian Dennehy and Brian Keith. Not the actors themselves, just their names, for some unknown reason. I’d certainly never try to brazen out a complete bonehead error like that.

That’s not really that hard a mistake to make though. Not to me.

But I can be an idiot so take that for what it’s worth. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I guess, but, as I said, I know who the two actors are as individuals, I just want to call them by the other’s name. I don’t know what neuron misfires to make me do that.

According to my Lord and Saviour in Heaven, Jimmy Buffett, I also have FinsToTheRight.

Keith David and David Keith, I mean how can you tell them apart?

You don’t!

And here we are, stuck in the middle with you.

C’mon, Man?! Why you gotta’ bring the Carradines into this??

Those are clowns, not fins. Clownfish?

You know why mermaids wear seashell bras?

Those were bras? I thought those were odd mermaid growths

Mermaids are an unusual type of mollusk.

This thread has just gone right off the rails. :flying_saucer:

Help, Sam! We really need you to post an article that says the opposite of what you think it did… quick, before we’re wasted away again in Mermaidville.

Hey, we have to rail about something.

And now back to David Keith, Keith David, Keith Carradine, David Carradine and Don Juan the Love-Sick Urechis Worm in Sam_Stone: Bred In Canada, A Crumb in America!

If you cooked a mermaid, would there be a meat portion and a fish portion like a surf and turf platter?
