FWIW, andrew, before you even started this thread (which I think was a bad idea and you should probably ask to have it closed) I was thinking about starting a pit thread suggesting that you cool it with the new threads for a while. People will be more receptive to participating in your threads if you participate in theirs. I.e., your posting record suggests you’re far more interesting in hearing your own voice than others’. It would also go a long way to your “education” as a doper to turn the “listen” knob up a little, and the “talk” knob down. Balance dude, balance.

you’d see clearly it was a thread about my thread.
My point exactly- Frank refers to starting a controversial thread as ‘not being on best behaviour.’ Controversial does not neccesarily = bad behavior, especially since I asked the question out of a desire to learn, not to make waves.
In fact, seeing controversial as = to bad behavior is a sick and dangerous way of thinking, one which I think this board should be lightyears ahead of. Nope, I ain’t exaggerating- you Mods seem like Fundies to me right now, or like the PC idiots in our society who don’t allow anything controversial.
I mean, No Hate Speech and No Flirting is a good place to draw the line, I agree. But on this side of the line, everything should be fair game. In fact, I had a thought that it would be awesome if someone started a chat room in which absolutely anything was allowed (except talking of killing the president, or talking of specifically meeting to kill anyone). If I’m ever rich enough to start a vBulletin board on my own, you better believe that site will exist.
And if you had read all of the thread about your thread, you’d see clearly that there’s a question as to whether Tuba had the right thread. 
If you could find the right composer (a Sir Arthur Sullivan clone) you could set that to a G&S parody, with a chorus doing the “The Mods. are all right” line from the OP as a refrain! 
And if YOU had read the whole thread clearly, you would see that the first post is about my thread, clearly; and that when Tuba spoke of it later, she meant my thread, but by the end realized that she was wrong when she had thought it had been closed (she misinterpreted the OP’s words) instead of just the one comment in post #12 being said ‘no’ to by a mod, with the rest of the thread continuing un-closed.
Never mind, let’s not bicker over this point anymore.

I don’t think it’s appropriate to have public discussions asking people graphic details about their sex lives. At least not here. I am sure there are forums that support that, and the young man is old enough to go to those websites.
I’m no prude, but I generally don’t expect people to behave any differently here than they would in normal company. Among my social milleu, people do not enquire of one another what they think about while waxing their tadpole, or whether or not they “stem the rose,” if I can borrow a phrase from a recent movie. Nor did this seem to be the sort of web board that encouraged such discussions, which are pretty far removed from fighting ignorance.
Just my opinion as a customer, of course. Whatever the admins decide to do is their business.
