In the Great Debates thread on multiple universes and God started by Scylla, http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=43526 , clicking on “post reply” takes one to the
“no forum selected, please pick a forum” screen. It does this whether you’re displaying it as listed above or by going to “unread post”
One snag that I might be responsible for is that I concluded a sentence in my last post (the next to last post) in that thread with the phrase (now broken apart with spaces to assure I don’t inadvertently repeat the problem here) “N + 1 - hyperdimensionality.”
This displayed as Nhyperdimensionality when the post showed, and I discovered the problem when I went to post what that word was supposed to be – leading me to believe that the plus-one-hyphen combination may have caused a glitch.
Anyway, here’s the problem, with my apologies if my post inadvertently caused it.
I know this sounds simple minded, but why don’t you just try it again, and then you’ll know for sure.
Just repeat your post on one of the hundreds of test threads lying around here.
I can’t tell quite what you mean, or I’d try it myself.
Why guess when you can know? If it’s not repeatable, it’s not fixable, is what the help line people always tell me.
It appears to be working now, although the second page will not open for me at the moment. However, while I was able to post to other threads, that one would not function to allow a post reply for a substantial time. And it did not appear to have anything to do with traffic, since it would respond the same as any other thread except for the mislink to the “no thread specified” screen.
